Jazmine Sullivan has a new song out, titled “I Need You Bad,” produced by Missy Elliott. Sullivan, who is just 20 years old, was recently signed to J. Records right after singing her song “In Love With Another Man” in front of Clive Davis and a board of label executives. The Philly native has one of the most unique voices in the industry to date.
Ms. Sullivan has been in the industry for a while now – performing, writing and lending her beautiful voice on background vocals. But it’s now her time to shine, with an album on the way that will make the masses fall in love with music and true artistry again, with contributions from Salaam Remi and Missy Elliott.

I heard this song last week and immediately loved it. I like the beat and this girls vocals are ON POINT.
I wouldn’t say her voice was more distinctive than other artists, but it is much stronger. Especially, for a twenty year-old. You could’ve fooled me. Her voice sounds wayyyy more mature than her years, and it’s far more noticeable than any other “popular’” twenty somethings musician out to-date.
If this track was intended to be a buzz single, than it has definitely started a buzz for the spring/early summer.

Eh I knew people were going to do that. I love Lauryn Hill and Jazmins Sullivan but they are totally different. Jazmine sounds like Kim Burrell, Laila Hathaway, and Nina Simone mixed together. All the alto sultry soul singers that have cultivated soul music. She is dope and she has an ol skool appeal to her that would work out fine with a mature audience. She might have it hard though because she is just 20 years-old and most at this age are doing pop music and she doesn’t have a pop voice. So she has to do the neo-soul thing. I dig Jazzy alot her vocal skills are crazy! Anyways I can’t stand when there is new artist they start to compare them to Lauryn instantly lol. That is ridiculous and love Lauryn.
