♫ NEWS: LIL MAMA ON THE LACK OF FEMALE MCs / OMARION DROPPED? / NE-YO BORED WITH R&B / J.HUD ALBUM DUE IN SEPT.

In a recent interview with Realtalkny, rapper Lil Mama spoke on the lack of female rappers in the music game now-a-days. The 18 year-old old says:

..Like if you look around now, one of the biggest things in hip-hop is the eye candy in the videos. So when you see a female hip-hop artist you expect her to be eye candy. …I think that by coming out at the age of 17 sort of helped me out, because if I would have came out at 19 or 20, they would have probably been like you need to wear this, you need to wear that…

Lil Mama’s debut album, Voice of The Young People, is out on April 29th.

R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo says he is “a little bored” with urban music. Check out what he said when he was speaking on his new album..

“There’s some stuff on there that sounds like something the Beatles might’ve done,” Ne-Yo told Billboard. “There’s some stuff on there that sounds like something Billy Joel might’ve done. I can’t do just straight urban music no more, because to be completely honest with you, I’m a little bored with it. I’m just moving with what music excites me now.”

J-Hud looks like a big ol “Gum Ball” heehee

That’s what Omarion gets, should’ve stayed with the group. God don’t like ugly.

    Love Neyo

  2. TIFFANYSWORLD

    HAPPY SUNDAY ALL…GOD BLESS

  3. UM...I GUESS

im bored with r&b too, neyo…

  4. imjustsaying

And who will buy lil mama’s album????? seriously get real!!!!!!!

  5. BarbieChick

oh check it check it check it, i’m three! hey! and BOOOOO omarion, never liked him anyway, GO Lil’ Mama!

  6. turmoi1913

I can’t wait for Jennifer’s album. I’m hoping it’s soulful R&B and they don’t try and make her sound too “pop”.

  7. LoNdOn GaL

i hear what lil’ mama said. it is sooooo true doe.

    omarion………….. who cares?

neyo ur bored wit r&b. most of the old r&b artists (namin no names, riri) r producin different songs apart from r and b. how can u b bored wit dis music. stay wit it.

    j. hudson, i cant wait 4 da album

  8. blackisbeautiful

I don’t know Day 26 album was some good R&B Ne-yo well do what you like and feels best for you;)

That’s good to hear about J-Hud but that picture was a no no lol

Lil’ Mama is telling the truth. I know alot of people throw shade at her for looking manly and shit but Lil’ Mama is about her business and she CAN rap I’ve seen her freestyle lol so best of luck

  9. Phil-Up

It will definite be interesting to see how Lil Mama sells. I don’t know if she has really built up a fanbase yet. That song with Chris Brown seems to get a lot of radio play though.

Even though I am not a fan of Omarion. I think he is just as good as Chris Brown. He just hasn’t really tapped into the potential he has as an artist, and he never will if he keeps collaborating with Bow Wow every year.

Ne-Yo is right R&B is hella boring right now because the quality and feeling is gone. I haven’t heard really good R&B since the 90′s to be honest.

I really hope Jennifer Hudson brings something different to the table. She’s talented but I really don’t want to just hear her wailing over the radio.

  10. Olga

The change in music style by Neyo is cool, it’s brings a good mixture of classic and fresh. Uh, is anyone else bothered by the fact that Lil Mama is 1)Named “Lil Mama” and 2) Looks and sounds like Bow Wow! smh

  11. BadGirl23

lol @ 1, gumball though lol

Sorry O but you need to find something else to do boo boo.

Ne-Yo I agree, urban music has been bad for a minute now but you have got to open your ears, there’s a lot of other different type of music out here that’s good. I luv R&B that’s why I keep the oldies in all the time but I don’t limit myself to hip hop/r&B or I would be doing myself a great injustice.

  12. blackisbeautiful

    @ 4

Kids will buy it. Lil’ Mama is at an awkward stage as being a young female MC. She doesn’t want to come off too mature like Jean Grae or too raunchy like Lil Kim and Foxy did it so she has no choice but to continue putting out these kiddie songs but real talk she can rap though lol

  13. tia

i feel you lil mama…..do you thats wats most important, always do you

i thought omarion was with chris stokes label…..did i miss something, but anyway yeah if you aint wats hott right now they will drop you like a bad habit….seems like everyone is getting dropped these days

ne-yo……boy bye…its only boring if you make it boring….i mean yeah do wat excites you but dont call r&b boring if you aint trying to do nothing to add to it…..be a pop star i dont give a damn lol

yes yes yes….j-hud you betta bring it

  14. Ninagirl1

I wish there were more pics of J. Hud sporting the bob. She is such a beautiful girl.

  15. Young One

R&B is gettin wack now. Its like unless your songs are written by The Dream, You aint shit! LOL! I dont blame Ne-Yo, Beyonce, Timbo, Justin, none of the for wanting to attempt something else.

  16. m

Yup gumball with a wig, whew I had seen a recent pic of Omarion he plump. iIwould not care if Neyo sat down or went country or whatever as long as he continue to write

  17. Dame

I love Neyo and I know his cd will be fire.

Lil Mama whatever I can’t take her seriously with THAT name.

    J. Hud I am not feeling her AT all sorry.

  18. hood_shit

Somebody always hollaring they bored with something… Ne-Yo SHUT THE HELL UP! I’m bored with you!

Lil Mama- chick please! Female MC’s always go in waves…. whats new?

Omarion will get another deal- please believe…. He knows what to do to get it…. WINK!

    J. Hud- lets get it ma!

  19. Dame

Oh sorry O! Doesn’t he have a deal with nasty Chris Strokes label?

  20. richbitch

Ne-yo you must be feeling yourself a little too much right now, we’ll see how boring r&b is when no body buys your next album. I mean the nerve of the new “artists” could you image a real singer saying something like this, no because they are in it for the love of the game not imitating like some people….

  21. Rashad

Jenn’s album is going to be hot!

  22. KNOWN

lil mama’s cd isn’t even out, w/e @ her still trynna get hype
    don’t care bout omarion
glad neyo is trying to change it up
CNA’T WAIT FOR J HUD, I HOPE IT’S AMAZING AND NOT ANY OVERSINGING!!

  23. Lovely young lady 22123

Oh well Omarion sorry but never liked you anyways
    G Good job J-Hud
T True Lil mama that is soo true
Im I’m still feeling RnB but some singer’s can’t even sing and that’s a big turn off on
    it
Have Gracious Sunday Everybody And GOD BLESS

  24. KNOWN

but i do find neyo to be getting very bigheaded, when your talented you are, it’s an amazing gift but cockiness isn’t becoming especially when ur hat is a must and ur live vocals are questionable. he’s not bonafide, his writing skills are good tho

  25. bridgette

Neyo how can you be tired of R&B because there hasn’t been any out since the 90′s. This crapt is not rhythm and blues. I don’t no what it is but it aint soul music. You can’t go in the studio create some ridiculous beats and think that it is soul music. Soul music is just that something that came from your soul. I don’t see a freakum dress really coming from the soul and if it is then the soul is in trouble.

  26. Nothing But Love

Neyo.. your the one making R&B boring

Omarion.. i dont really check for him like that so.. its whatever i guess although i didn’t see it coming.

  27. Nothing But Love

ok lemme rephrase my last comment..

Neyo… your one of the reasons why R&B music is boring.

  28. blackisbeautiful

Y’all whine too much about the state of music. There are people out here that out out really creative music but the majority doesn’t support because it is not mainstream. Catchy music sells. Heavy 808 with a southern bounce sells, and the pop electro sound sells. So my thing is to stop complaining and listen to what you like. I did and I’m content. I stopped listening to the radio since 2006. I’ve been fine since. I like alot of a mainstream to underground. I’m not prejudice to music that is out of today. I just stop hating.

  29. Nothing But Love

    @ 28 aka BLACKISBEAUTIFUL

Yeah i hear what your saying i think radio is problem its too damn predictable thats why i stopped listening to it as well.

  30. Giggles loves Mariahs new album

Lil ma is speaking the truth, its all about image in the industry sadly but thats the way it works.

The obsession with looks is why r&b sucks and so does hip-hop, pop has virtually died. Some days I do think r&b for our generation and the future is dead. Even “r&b singers” aren’t even singing r&b anymore and that says it all.

However there are some r&b gems out there who don’t get the attention them deserve like Tamia, Amel Larrieux etc.

Jhud looks a mess in that pic but I looove her voice, she can out-sang most of the contemporary singers, but September? thats a long time away. As a fan im disappointed.

  31. mphsmade

J HUDSON!!!! COME ON GIRL!!!! IM SO AMPED FOR THIS!!!! I HEARD A COUPLE TRACKS AND I GOTTA SAY, “AMAAAAAZING”!!!!!!

  32. ThinkAboutIt

Wow… I thought Jennifer Hudson was Patti LaBelle.

Two certified Gold albums and you get “dropped” – what does it take these days?
I know that BowWow business was dismal, but he did have some success with them.

Ne-Yo bored with ‘urban’ music? He can expect some backlash from that — and it won’t be good. Much like Alicia Keys and her mistatements, you have to be really careful what you say, folk are so unforgiving.

  33. PRISTINE

Ne-yo bored with r&b? I’m bored with Ne-yo. But I won’t knock him for wanting to be more creative (or for wanting to make that ‘pop music’ money). I just wish he would add a bit more soul into his music.

  34. GreatestLoveOfAll

shes tellin the truth lil mama. Other than underground MC’s, Missy, Remy and Foxy most of the women are WACK as hell!! Cmon Lil’ Kim, Trina, etc. Glad someones tellin it like it is. Sad thing is that most females liek Trina dont see a damn problem with how they market themselves. Lol, Still Da Baddest FLOPPED anyways, it FELL to #28 this week and will fall even harder later on.

  35. GreatestLoveOfAll

And who cares about Omarion?? Hes replaceable and will only be remembered for B2K and Ice-Box.

  36. GreatestLoveOfAll

Ne-Yo’s got a point. What happened to all the REAL R&B out there?? Other than himself and Keyshia, Fantasia, Mary, and a few others, all these wackass gimmicks like Chris Brown, Rihanna and Cassie are stankin out the joint.

None of these losers can compare to the likes of SWV, TLC, Boyz II Men, Johnny Gill, En Vogue, Blackstreet, New Edition……………when folks were REQUIRED TO HAVE SINGING TALENT!!!!!

  37. MEKKAH74

I feel you Ne-Yo. I think R&B goes through stages. In between those stages it gets boring. We had the bump n’ grind era in the 90s before D’Angelo, Maxwell, and Erykah switched things up a little. Then it got boring again, because record labels tend to seek artists that sound like the already successful artists. We hear about “the next so & so”, or the “cross between Artist A & Artist B”…Then the market becomes saturated with pretenders. Radio doesn’t help, because half the time they are too scared to be versatile and play a little variety. I really don’t know what’s going on right now with R&B, but I can never give up on it. As a music lover, I just sit back and be patient. If I’m someone like Ne-Yo, then I go out and try to be that pioneer, push the envelope & produce something new.
    Test the waters dude.

  38. NikkiMustSayIt

I’m not a huge fan or nothing but: Poor Omarion!! Bow Wow is a corn, you should have known!!

Good luck to J-Hud!! LoL to the red gum ball comment!!

  39. I like u xyz

Please come back Jon B and Maxwell.

  40. nelly

Omarion may have been dropped but his career us definetly far from being over he’s extremely talented and will be placed at a label god feels is the right one for him.. Had a chance to meet him and he’s a very laid back humble dude and is fine as hell he’s really a nice guy.. And for all this b2k stuff he didn’t have to stay in a boy band for the rest of his life if his dream was to be a solo artist thats called growing up… Neyo us right half if music us garbage right with a few exceptions.. He’s also a very talented songwriter and half if the tunes you was snapping your fingers to neyo wrote it it for that artist he needs to go back to being a songwriter thats where the most money is… I see jenuder Hudson doing really well I’ll be buying her cd.. I wish all of these artist luck especially omarion thats my baby…with his sexy fine self

  41. Nope

Lil’ Mama may wind up being one of the best female mc’s. She definitely has a flow; now if she could stop rapping about lip gloss, ice cream and school buses! But she has a point, if they dress her up all hootchie-fied, she’d sell better. Sex sells, even if it’s wrong.

Who’s checking for Omarion anymore? No one that I know. So, if he fell off, it’s time to change the game for the better. And none of that partnering with some whack rapper who thinks he’s more than what he is.

Jennifer Hudson will probably have a real (good) R&B album, and it won’t sell much because it won’t be as manufactured as some of the newer well known artists. Not that I don’t like some of the music played on radio, but for the most part, you’ve heard one song you’ve heard them all.

  42. msmiami

Omarion god dont like ugly… And your fans dont like the fact that you fucking bow wow///// But he’ll get another deal////

  43. Diabolical

Omarion should have been dropped … I guess the high school aged girls needed someone to throw their panties at *shrugs* … I hear what Ne-Yo is saying, a lot of it sounding the same. I’m hoping the artists that are doing something different, I.E. Santogold and Solange, get some good play.

  44. Lil mama will be on the cover of King magazine by next year……watch.

    Omarion, nothing personal…..just good business.

Neyo, if R & B is boring, you bored it.

J Hud, you look like a big old Stop sign.

  45. Flygirl

I think the best of RnB was the 90′s it was the era in which I grew up in and I loved it then and miss it now. Back then it seemed like the artist actually sang with passion and it was all computerized as it is now. It wasn’t much about dancing per se but there are a few out now that I like. I think with so many people trying to crossover into mainstream they like to appeal to a pop sound. IMaybe now the do it more so for the money and not the love of it. When listen to artist like Al Green and Marvin Gaye even though they are from an older generation they sung with great passion that you could feel it. I’m glad that Mary is still going strong and reppin from the 90′s though.

  46. Kennedi

    ……WHOA Jennifer…!!!!

  47. Enough Said

Lil Mama SPEAK THAT ISH…she is so right
Ne-Yo..whatever…if u bored w/ R&B music stop using the same recycle beat and lyrics to all your damn songs…PLEASE

  48. Speak Lil Mama… I feel u!

“Hip Hop started out in the heart. Now everybody tryin to chart”- Lauryn Hill

  49. …..bout time jhud …. dirt always come back to haunt you remeber that omarion lol,,,,, now yo shit stank … i was so hurt when b2k broke up …..

  50. LIL MAMA MAKES MY EARS HURT. SOMEBODY STICK A SUCKER IN HER MOUTH, PLEEEEEEASE. I’D RATHER HEAR NAILS ON A CHALK BOARD FOR REAL!

J-HUD: YOU ARE WEARING WAY TOO MUCH RED AND IT CLEARLY ADDED 50 LBS TO YOUR BODY. PLEASE DON’T DO THAT AGAIN.

  51. Peacekeeper00

Neyo needs to sit down somewhere. If it’s so boring then why don’t you bring something fresh to it? He is helping to make it boring so he isn’t saying anything. He is jumping on the pop bandwagon because that’s what’s popular at the moment.

  52. lol @ Omarion’s records being certified gold…. poor thang.

  53. SHAYIZZLE

I agree with what Lil’ Mama is saying; its all about eye candy today.

I don’t like Omarion to much, Im really on the fence with him.

  54. BASSMAN

    Lil Mama told the truth..

    God don’t like ugly, Omarion!

Can’t wait to hear it, Ne-Yo

    Good look J. Hud!

  55. SassyT

In my opinion, I’ll have to say that the 70′s and mid-80′s was an era of great R&B. Like someone else stated above, the music today sounds so cookie-cutter. Back in the day, you could tell one artist from the next – they had their own style and it wasn’t about shaking their butts -they could actually sing! I’m not putting today’s artists down because people like what they like, but I’ll take the oldies any day!

  56. Simone

Neyo you are bored because all of your songs sound alike.

  57. math

#47, thank youuu. All of Ne-Yo’s songs sound the same to me so I’m gonna need to stfu -_-

  58. Jasmin

its time for miss hudson the dropp the pounds. Dream girls is over and I almost forgot about her… and she looks a mess in that photo

  59. It is not the dress????

She coul dvery well be 50 lbs overweight whe nther is a bu n in the oven, the girl is preggers.

  60. notbuyingit

    @28 Amen!!!

people complain about the urban music, but yet flock to the stores for the talentless artist out here because the songs are catchy(SOULJA BOY, OMARION, CHRIS BROWN, RIHANNA AND CIARA list goes on but y’all get the point). people like Musiq, Jill Scott, Raheem, Ledsi, Ayo who making good music most of you aren’t supporting. So y’all are just reaping what y’all sowed. Ne-yo can’t really talk because he basically copied Michael Jackson which is boring….but whatever i’m done LOLOLO!!!
