♫ Album Review: MARIAH CAREY – E=MC² ♫
Mariah Carey, who has just beat out Elvis for having a whopping 18 #1 singles, releases her 11th studio album, E=MC² this week.
Although I wasn’t initially impressed with Mariah’s first single choice, “Touch My Body” (or it’s obnoxiously juvenile video), or the original title of the album (remember That Chick?), the song grew on me and I was eager to hear more of the material from the release of the album. The cleverly chosen title means “(E) Emancipation (=) of (MC) Mariah Carey (²) to the second power.”
I think Mimi stuck to her guns and did exactly what I thought she was going to do: stick to the same formula that she did on 2005′s Emancipation of Mimi. But if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Mariah garnered herself some huge success with that album, so it doesn’t surprise me that she kind of went with what she knew her fans would love. Again, she used the team that gave her so much “umph” the last time, with productions from Bryan-Michael Cox and Jermaine Dupri, while slipping in some current hitmakers like Danja on the infectious, “Migrate” (listen) and The Dream for her first single.
Impressive isn’t really the word I’d use for the album, even though I think it has a lot of catchy hooks and fun songs. I think that Mariah’s only real intention this time around was to get that #1 single out so she can break some records. You can bet that just like Janet’s Discipline, E=MC² will not be Mariah’s last album, seeing as though both of them just signed new deals with Def Jam.

I’mma bootleg( my personal review) this album first before I spend dollars on the actually thing, and If I don’t like it, well, guess what I won’t buy it.
Mariah is beautiful for sure and a true talent in her own right! I saw her performing yesterday on oprah…. Anyone trying to say Mariah should leave her post is crazy! She has a solid fan base, and young kids, old, middle-age, STILL adore her so why quit now? It’s not like there are too many R&B singers who are doing it way big so she might as well wear the crown, if not her then who????
I recall speaking with a vocalist a few years back, who told me that in a few years, Mariah will have ruined her vocal cords, because of the unique ad-libbing she did on her most famous tracks. I didnt quite understand what she meant, but I do now. She has really put a strain on her voice, it is obvious. If staying away from ballads means more protection for her voice, then thats a smart move for her to make, because the damage sounds almost unrepairable.( She fought to bring her voice out on oprah)
As far as the immature content, I mean if the audience wants cheap, sex talk, then why not? At the end of day people arent really thinking about a persons age or content when they hear a beat that ‘s jumping! You cant deny- Mariah can write her ass off! She can coordinate a song like no other in the biz…..I AM NOT HATING!
HOLD THE F*CK UP. I just listened to this ish on youtube. nope. not buying it. sorry. I still love you mariah but i honestly cannot listen to most of the songs all the through, i get the ill A.D.D.

i really like the album ! i mean LOVE it. and im not just saying that cause i LOVE mariah!! so far my favorite tracks are “Love story, I Stay In Love, For The Record, Last kiss and Thanks For Nothing”
I like TMB. The only 2 songs on this album that I continue to sing over and over, is Side Effects and Cruise Control. The others I dont care to learn, at the moment. However, Mariah is mariah and my favorite, so I bought the album anyway. A true fan must show support through anything. BAd album or not. Not her worst, but I’ve seen her best, or hopefully her best is yet to come.

I downloaded Mariah’s album off of a Chinese website for free and I’m glad I didn’t waste my money. Not worth it.
