♫ Album Review: TIFFANY EVANS ♫
15-year-old songstress Tiffany Evans released her self-titled debut album this week.
It’s been a long time coming, considering the release of her first single last year, “Promise Ring,” which featured Ciara. I was a little scared for Tiffany because of all the dates that I’d heard and the push-backs, but with the release of her Darkchild-produced second single, “I’m Grown,” she was finally ready to let the world watch her shine.
If you don’t remember, late last year, CL had an exclusive interview with us, where she revealed information about the album, her transition from acting to recording, family and friends, as well as life on the road.
The album include productions from The Clutch, Rodney Jerkins, Beau Dozier and more. I’m really excited for Tiffany because she’s been working so hard on this. She’s a sweet, down-to-Earth and has a great head on her shoulders. Tiffany Evans is a fun, age-appropriate album, where Tiffany really gets a chance to flex her vocal muscle and show off those pipes of hers. Stand-out tracks include the two singles, “Promise Ring” (featuring Ciara), the semi-controversial “I’m Grown” (Tiffany even had to release a personal statement), “Girl Gone Wild,” and “About A Boy.” So make sure you check Miss Evans out and show her some love.
Check out Tiffany on MySpace and make sure you cop her self-titled debut album, Tiffany Evans, in stores today! Tell her Brian from CL sent you!

I don’t like the song “I’m Grown”. I saw the video last night and was like this little girl needs to sit down. Fifthteen is not grown, honey. A more appropriate title would’ve been “I’m Growing Up”.

Isnt she the 9 year old girl who walked into some place when her family was homeless and sang some song and got a record deal….
If she sings that song Let me be your angel… Then she can sing… But this is cute… I can see teenagers loving it.

I have the album and it is really good. I don’t think you did her justice with your review. This is my review for the album.
Tiffany Evans shines on her debut album. It’s amazing that this material was decked out by a girl who is only 15 years old. It’s hard to believe that back in 2005, Tiffany was a mere 12 years old starring in the Tyler Perry smash “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” and doing various music videos for Disney. MTV also did a news special on her stating that she was one of the great artists to look out for. Seems like they knew exactly what they were talking about. To start off the album which has 11 tracks, Tiffany calls on the help of Ciara for the “puppy love” smash “Promise Ring”. While some underrage girls may be out doing more raunchier things with their guys, instead of “rocking their promise rings”, Tiffany remains in her age range and show’s Ciara up vocally on the school kid, 90’s sounding track. On her first televised performance, she even stole a couple of Ciara’s dance moves and nailed her vocals perfectly. To say that Ciara is her role model, doesn’t it seem like she may be able to teach her a thing or two? To keep the party rolling, Tiffany totally switches things up and get’s Bow Wow to back her while she makes it known that “I’m Grown”. It’s hard to believe that you can go from promise rings to being “grown” so quickly. But the thing is, even when she’s only 15, she manages to get you to believe that she actually is grown. Maybe its her mature voice? Maybe it’s just the swagger that she carries. She delivers her vocals like a pro who’s been in the game longer than her 15 years on earth. But she should be careful, that sort of thing can harm a youngsters longevity in the music biz. Then there’s the kiss off to haters everywhere “Impossible”. Tiffany commands them all to “doubt me, I want you to” while she “can’t stop, wont stop”. The beat sounds like she’s ready to go to war, and from the emotion in her voice, she sounds like she’s ready for the fight, and ready to win. Tiffany shows that she may one day be up there along with the greats like Mariah, and Whitney one day, throughout this album. On certain songs, such as “Can’t Walk Away” and “About A Boy”, & “Favorite Broken Heart” she takes the teenage love affair route. But she’s only 15, what can she know about love? And on most of the ‘love’ songs she sings about having a broken heart, like on “About A Boy” when she says, “this one’s about a boy, I used to love, no happy endings”. Can a broken heart so young leave so much to sing about? Then on “Lay Back And Chill” Tiff tells all the fellows what they have to be to get with her. The title says it all. Though the bulk of the album is surprisingly splendid, there are times when Tiff leaves you confused, such as in the intro to The Clutch produced “Girl Gone Wild”. Tiffany tells a group of friends that a girl from school looks like Mrs. Tingle from second period, needs to take a few hints from her, and needs to show a little leg or something. Then in the song she sings about another girl going wild. Hmmmm….could this song very well be directed towards herself? Could Tiffany be the “private school girl with your skirt rolled up, showin’ off what you aint even got yet?” Two tracks where Tiffany excels extemely are “Thinkin’ About” and the gospel tinged “Angels On Earth”. ‘Thinkin About’ finds Tiffany channeling one of her old school faves she may have heard her mother listening to while cleaning the house. Listening to the track, Tiffany’s voice sounds a little different from the rest of the songs on the album. She sounds a little younger and a little less developed. Maybe this is a song she recorded when she was younger? But nevertheless, she shows up and shows out. She even showcases a hint of that rare “whistle range” that Mariah Carey is known for. In “Angels On Earth” Tiffany takes it to church, while backed by a gospel choir, she sings of how when you least expect, an angel shows up and help you out when you need it. In the song Tiff holds a note for a whopping 23 seconds and sounds great while doing it. She definitely is a force to be reckoned with. Great dancing ability and a outstanding voice, when she hits 18, she may be ready to give Beyonce, Christina, and Mariah a run for their money. Until then, Jojo and Miley Cyrus better watch out.
Recommend: “Promise Ring”, “I’m Grown”, “Impossible”, “Thinking About”, “Lay Back And Chill”

At #23 Yeah Ciara is the Co-Executive Producer. Yall really need to support baby girl she is really doing it big…oh and #22 I liked your review but on Girl Gone Wild she’s not the one talkin…lol. Brian you need to post “Lay Back and Chill” because that’s without a doubt the best track off her album and its her next single I believe. I wish Sony/Columbia would have released this as the second single instead of “Im Grown” bc people arent gettin the point to that song, and “Girl Gone Wild” and “Lay Back..” would have been better to release. Love the album though, other than “Thinkin about” and Angels on Earth”..the former is like recycled music bc Ive heard from awhile ago and the latter just is corny to me but yeah. But yall support her foreal bc I would hate to see her get dropped bc of lackluster sales (look at Omarion, and he sold gold on both his albums)

I listened to it on BET.com last week. I knew the girl could sing, but I was even more happy to find it to be relaxing and it was very age-appropriate! If I was fifteen, had a fifteen year old child, or wanted to buy something for my lil cousins, this would be it. I agree with some of the previous posts giving love for “Lay Back and Chill”. I would rock to that song. She should def. release that one next.

Whether you are 15 or 30 support great talent. She reminds me of STACEY LATTISAW and JOHHNY GILL . Young in age but sings like an adult. Ciara has help Tiffany reach more fans than Oprah and Tyler Perry. I bought 5 copies and will buy 5 copies of fantasy ride. Let help Tiffany Evans debut @ #1

A Boy Like Me

I just bought her album, and I’m 19, and can still enjoy her music. Of course “Promise Ring” was ROCKIN’, should have heard that in the club, lol. And even though some of you didnt get her point in “I’m Grown”, I still love that song. The beat is on POINT!!!!! As for the rest of the album, my favorites are “Impossible”, “Girl Gone Wild”, “Favorite Broken Heart” and “Again”. But one of the best songs on the album would have to be the supposed-to-be second single “Lay Back & Chill”…OMG!!!!! That song is the ISH!!!!!! Im already starting to play it out, and I just bought it like 3 hours ago, lol. The beat, the vocals, the melodies, the harmonies, the range, EVERYTHING!!!!! Brian, you should have posted that song! I still hope they release it as a single. NEwayz, this album is the truth, and nothing but. Most of these songs were made for the club, so if you like loud music with hot beats and plenty of base, you should check her album out. Whatever your age group is, you should still buy this album and support Tiffany. For once, an artist released age appropriate music for young people, and many of you dont want to buy it because your older than 18? But then you turn around and buy other artists album that contain secular music, and complain about it. Tiffany Evans is the solution to your problem. Everyone, go out and buy a copy TODAY! You wont regret it!

I was very happy to see that Tiffany’s singing career has finally taken off. I watched her when she was a kid win Star Search and people, I’m telling you this girl is no joke!
I bought the cd after hearing “Promise Ring” on the radio and I think it’s a great cd. A lot of nice songs. I feel that I got my money’s worth on this unlike so many other CDs out there! Like #33, I can’t get “Favorite Broken Heart” out of my head. That song is SO beautiful and shows a girls trying to demonstrate honesty and a mature approach to love gone wrong. Like someone said earlier, this self-titled CD shows that she is very much like a young Beyonce. She has an incredible voice that you don’t get to hear the full power of on this cd. But given her age, perhaps that’s best right now. Make no mistake though, she is the REAL thing.
