These photos are mediocre and definitely nothing special. I’m sorry but I gotta be real about this. If the photos weren’t using celebs in them they’d still be seen as mediocre at best. He has a lot of work to do still on developing a recognizable style and this idea with the poses and subject matter is not all that unique. BTW, “FIERCE” is so old. Can we move on already? this isn’t Project Runway.

There is absolutely nothing mediocre about Derek. I’m so glad he’s been getting some play. I’ve done a couple of shoots w/ Derek back in the day, and he’s always been extremely professional, patient, and efficient. When it comes to the quality of his work, let alone his professionalism, he has a way of getting the best out of people. His site is being remodeled, but check it out when you can and then you all can see his work.

Before he did celebs he was gettin’ his shine on with regular models and doing a FAB job. The thing about Derek is his versatility– he does the photography and art design, he’s a painter AND graphic designer and he incorporates all of these talents in his work (do y’all know how hard it can be to do those multiple exposures?).
Before Crystal (a.k.a. Serious) was on Flavor of Love, she was just a regular model and designer. She was one of his main clients and he did some awesome pics of her where he literally painted a dress on her. It was crazy!

He’s phenomenal, and again, I am ecstatic that he’s doing so well.

all of them are tight except the kim porter one….she lookin a bit..idk janice dickenson like…but anywho im glad our people are out here making moves and being acknowledged for it….i love it.

I love Eva’s and Ameries…. they are so different and natural-looking. And I think CiCi’s is nice as well. Her face features in the picture are too model-esque… she should consider modeling. I’m sure whatever is in between her legs was caused by the angle of the camera so stop being immature.

The guys shots aren’t up to par like the ladies. I think he could’ve done better with that. he’s talented though.

The pictures are nice. Not creative because I’ve seen this done before. Well, Amerie’s picture is creative. I don’t see the big deal with Kim and those twins. I don’t want to call them ugly, but the twins are not cute. Kim is strange looking chick. And not just in these photos. She looks like the joker. Mychal is gay so don’t wait on hittin that.

Everybody looks great, except Kym Porter. Hers looks way amateur and she’s an actual model (and the most experience model used) ! Her picture isn’t cute…it isn’t the babies, but her that look weird. It looks like I took her picture in my kitchen or something.
And, Eva looks stunning but her arm looks crazy…I can see how they superimposed the pics…

For those who say that Kim Porter looks nice, think again please. She looks like a skinny ass transvestite gone wrong. I’ve seen better looking transvestites.
On the other hand, the concept was great and creative. I love the pictures. I think everyone did a beautiful job and that these are great. I really do like them all except K.P.s. I don’t really like her face in it. I don’t see and alter ego there. Just the same person holding twins. But thats not Derek Blanks fault. Whatever.
