Jay and Damon were boys and Damon was the main man behind Jay and Roc records. They began to drift apart once Bey came in the pic (no diss to Bey). You nknow how that goes. All he did was buy the domain name, which is a business start up under $100 and he gets a commision from each person who book through his domain name.

Same with the search engine, only the business start up is free, he just have to donate a few autographed prizes for winners. It’s powered a google, he gets a commision when people search through his domain name.

I am not mad at him by using the power of his name and making money from his popular name though, he is his own brand. It’s just not a physical business as some of you may think. Truthfully, I’m happy for Jay Z make that money…but I think Live Nation is crazy for putting out that much for him or Madonna….OK so Madonna might tour for years like the Rolling Stones, still on the road well into their 60’s…but to support Jigga through three more albums after he makes his last for Def Jam….I don’t know that there are four more albums I want to hear from dude. And for tours into the future…? He’s 38 in ten years he’ll be 48 so is this all based on his career alone…or will there be other artists involved? People forget that Jay has business managers, consultants, lawyers, and other big people to make deals. Jay doesnt walk into any establishment and make a deal by himself. I do give him credit for stepping out the box but lets face it, how many people want to hear a 42 year old rapping about drugs and hood life. LIVE NATION IS BASED IN CONCERTS and that’s what they looked at from Jay. He’s the King of selling out concerts on top of being the business man that he is. His ventures aren’t failing - they looked at that too. JAY’S GOOD BANKABLE MONEY. No every idea or business move isn’t originated from him - Steve Stout will tell him sometimes if he thinks this is a good fit, etc., but BEST BELIEVE HOV ORIGINATES 80% or more of the business moves he’s made. He’s done that throughout his career - he’s always went to the left and originated a move that no one has made which made him the BUSINESS MAN that he is. Hov will be in demand to still tour on his own because he has tons of hits he’s never even done in concert, so he could go on another 10 years. BUT IT’S NOT JUST HIM THAT’LL BE TOURING - HE’S GOING TO PUT OTHERS ON TOUR WITHOUT HIM.

This move was made so he can finally take a back seat and push his artists. He doesn’t want to go on forever, but he had to come out in 4th quarters to keep his label ROC afloat and when Kanye became an artist, Jay didn’t have to drop as much - that’s smart business.

@51- Thanks for that list. People seem to forget that Jayz hangs with billionaires like Bob Johnson - BET founder. He is no doubt under Johnson’s wings. Every move Jayz makes seems to be a joint effort, never a direct move on his own. Ten years is a long time to be under a contract- it’s a risk, but who knows it could indeed be a profitable move after all.
