Basketball star Carmelo Anthony and his fiancée LaLa Vazquez spoke to PEOPLE.COM about his recent DUI arrest and those Internet reports that stated she was unsupportive and wouldn’t pick him up from the police station.
“I want to make sure the public understands that I fully support my fiancé, Carmelo Anthony, and stand by him through this ordeal,” Vazquez, a former MTV veejay, says in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday. “I will always have his back and never refused to pick him up from the police station. In fact, they offered to bring him to me.”
The NBA star reiterated his love for Vazquez in his own statement to PEOPLE: “LaLa continues to be a rock in my life, she’s always been there for me through thick and thin.” [SOURCE]
The couple have a child together, 1-year-old son Kiyan.

It would have been better for her to leave it alone instead of responding to the media. They played her good. Whether it was true or not. She’s focused on defending her man to the public how about keeping whatever went on behind closed doors and let us say whatever. Dont live your life feeling like you have to defend everything. Instead of helping his image she’s doing damage control on hers.

I didn’t read the comments…I heard a snippet of her interview with Ryan Seacrest and she was backtracking and it didn’t make sense…In the piece I heard she was less concerned with people thinking she blamed the goverment than she was with people thinking she’d disssed rappers… Which is exactly what she did and she was right to do it…although she was on BET saying “Throw Some D’s On It” was her song…
