MUSIC: LYFE’S NEW ALBUM LYFE CHANGE IS IN STORES NOW

The evolution of Lyfe Jennings was bound to happen. With his authentic soulful voice and creative style, Lyfe was definitely ready for a Lyfe Change

LISTEN UP:

The new album (in stores now) features T.I., Snoop Dogg and Wyclef Jean (who wrote “Wild, Wild, Wild”). Producers include The Underdogs, Rich “Killa” Keller and Jean. Lyfe said he decided to work with more people on this album to add a diverse, eclectic spin to Lyfe Change.

“The album is called Lyfe Change because I’m changing it up a bit,” explains Lyfe. “In the past I didn’t work with different producers, I produced and wrote most of my albums by myself. But on this project I actually worked with different producers and a few writers.”

“I’m just trying to do something classic,” he says, “something that can be remade in 20 years.” And so the evolution of Lyfe begins.

Make sure you check out Lyfe’s official myspace to hear the new album in full. If you dig it, pick up a copy and support. Also, make sure to peep the quick interview CL had with Lyfe late last week…

  9. Dame(stop talking to me u know better)

I am not a huge Lyfe fan but I like some of his stuff.

  10. Love Lyfe & his music. Been a fan from the beginning.

  11. Focused1

Support this dude. He’s one of the last real R&B artists left.

  12. Xpert2007

I think Lyfe is very underrated. His first album plays like a book ( Still one of my favs)

  13. QUEEN

mmmmmmmmmmm i’m not too much a fan of his music…. but he’s sexy as hell!!!

  14. T.Y

  15. gurlgamer09

i have the album. maybe it will have to grow on me more, but I like his first 2 better!

  16. Lola Am

His first cd will remain a classic. IMO his second album wasn’t as great, but I dig his soulful realness. His cd is only $7.99 this week at Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City so I will definitely be supporting!!!

  17. Yeah I been bumpin’ this album since Friday…you can play it all the way through. I’m gonna get it when my stimulus check comes in!!!

    #5…let it go lol

  18. Khinje

I have been a huge fan of Lyfe’s since the first time I saw the “Stick Up Kid” video late on night on BET. HIs lyrics were provocative, at times, yet passionate at others:

And the preacher talking about some stuff he don’t know/
when church done became a f *ckin fashion show/
And they wont let a nicca in with these Timbos…/

I wil def cop this new CD because I love “Never Never Land”. Does anyone why he took a cheap shot at Jayz at the end of this song about growing old?

Or it the message intened for Jay?

  19. Peacekeeper00

I will def be picking up this album.

  20. reallyfy

the first album was a 10 to me i played it front to back…bought it at least 3 times when other copies became damaged…and recommended it to others to buy….i bought the 2nd album(the phoenix) sight unseen and immediately wanted my money back..horrible..horrible..horrible….i am now convinced that someone in prison wrote those songs and gave them to him…the difference in quality is like going from 1 to 60 in 10seconds..no way can a quality producer go from genuis to bullshit like that..thats probably why he got new producers..cuz he didnt write the first album himself…your first album is classic…just curious about that

  21. dimplesdelight

To me, Lyfe is the truth. His music is the real deal and it doesn’t matter his voice because it has soul and emotion dripping from it.

If you are not feeling cd one or two then it is something wrong. Who cares if his music is a reflection of his life??? That is what “real” music is about.

  22. Have Not Thought of a New User Name

    @ #19. J. Lewis

    You stupid lol

I love Lyfe I didn’t even know he had an album out what happen to the promotion Sony/Columbia?

  23. Lola Am

    @ 20. Khinje

I think you are making it out to be more than what was intended. I don’t think he meant it to be a cheap shot or disrespect towards Jay Z. His song is about getting old and maturing, we aren’t getting younger contrary to popular beliefs that 30 is the new 20. It’s not, simply said.

  24. Lola Am

    @ 24

I agree he hasn’t had much promotion. He doesn’t even get airplay here, but he did perform here last week.

  25. JStreet

this single is dope and like stated before the first album plays well….would have been better without his commentary at the end but its a classic album

  26. Teegh

Copped his cd first thing this morning and I’m loving it. He is one of the few artist that actually come with some real stuff to say. Keep doing what you do Lyfe!!!

  27. THEESSENCOFFEMINITY1981

I really believe that Lyfe is a real underrated artist. I fell in love with his first CD, the second one didn’t do much for me. I’ve seen him perform in New Orleans ons several occasions and I really enjoyed him. I’m listening to his new disc now. It’s really cheap so I may go and pick one.

  28. jmms529

Love him. Love him. I like every single song on the first cd. The second cd was okay. I’m getting his cd today. I feel like he’s so overlooked.

  29. Boomshiqua

number 5 is trippin for real!lol! that must be Raven herself cos ain’t nobody checkin for her that hard

Lyfe is ool but he really do need to shave that thing off his chin. it look dirty and smelly. I like that Midnight train song a lot but this album gon flop…I mean where was the promotion????

  30. FINE-N-MELLOW

Love this guy, he is so talented and he reminds me of my hubby.

  31. dee

    loving lyfe already got it.

  32. algie

this man is fine and a breath of fresh air to music.i gotta get the new cd

  33. Aries

@#20 I dont think it was a shot at Jay. I think he was simply saying to people no 30 is not the new 20,. When your 30 thats exactly what you are. And since Jay Z was the one who said 30 is the new 20 he was simply saying dont be mad.

  34. Have Not Thought of a New User Name

I hate when people say 30 is the new 20! since when? I think people who say that are going through some type of midlife crises you see Stacy Dash was hollering 40 is the new 30 on the cover of whatever magazine that was, she was like I’m 40 with no problems lol

  35. JUJU

LOVE LYFE AND HIS FIRST ALBUM WAS THE BEST I GOT TO PICK THIS ONE UP

  36. Lisa

    >>>>>> Love LYFE (with a Y)! Definately will support. My fav songs of his are CRY >>> and Stick up Kid. He talks about real things that he has been through and >>>devious behaviors he’s tried without glorifying the lifestyle, like some rappers we >>>> know.

  37. keishe83

I will def be supporting him

  38. ion care(in a place mo packed than a bucket of chitlins')
