♫ NEWS BIT: LABEL WANTS ESTELLE TO CHANGE UP HER IMAGE?
Friday, April 11, 2008
Estelle, who is pictured above performing in London last week, has reportedly run into some disagreements with her US label, Atlantic Records, who is set to release her debut album, Shine on April 29th.
It seems as though they are trying to pressure the singer into having her teeth “fixed” and changing her hairstyle.
“The American executives are adamant she makes a lot of significant changes,” said a source. “They want rid of her tomboy hair and want her to get her teeth fixed.”
“Estelle is not happy. She feels her teeth and the rest of her look are a big part of her character.” [SOURCE]

That’s fucked up! The game is so leftsided now that they rather pass up some talent just so they can sign a cute girl that CAN’T sing (**cough Rihanna). And Estelle is cute (don’t get me wrong) and I think she should just do her!
She is really talented and that’s what should matter. Wack-ass entertainment business.

Estelle’s album is going to be a good one. Forget the label execs, I mean damn! She isn’t new to the game, so I know this isn’t the first time they tried to get her to change it up.
Her song “Shine” is so good. Go cop that album on the 29th

First off, #1) MIMI LUV, Rhianna can sing. She can’t BLOW, but she can sing.
Estelle needs to under that this is AMERICA and in America, appearance is EVERYTHING! The majority of people will have a hard time gettin down to your video when you teeth are sticking out everywhere…they’re too used to seeing ‘perfection’ thrown in their faces.
She could not choose to conform and have her label fall back on marketing then she won’t sell anyways. She’s kind of in a tough spot.
I haven’t really noticed her teeth that much, but I always the hair worked for her…

I never noticed her teeth in her videos. I’m really, really shocked about the hair comment considering short hair is so in right now. I don’t think it’s a tomboy style for her. It’s very chic and I love it on her. Now if you wanna see hot mess, look up her video for Free from her first album. Estelle’s look has come a long way and she finally has her own, slick style.

This is absolutely ridiculous….there’s something “wrong” with her teeth?…..and problems with her hair?!?? I’ve always thought the hair made her look cute! Well…geez just spruce her up and sell her down the river massa’…(and before someone jumps on me, i do NOT mean this in any racial sense)
It goes to show you that although somethings have changed–others stay the same. Record labels continuously treat so many artist as id they were customizable pull-string dolls that they can change and fix and rearrange and package and prod and produce and…well…you get my drift.
I don’t see what the problem is–then again I’m not a part of A&R or her marketing team so who knows what they’re cooking as justification for these changes…

COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!
Friday, April 11, 2008 /
People are too shallow. Labels keep fighting for chicks like CASSIE who couldn’t sing if their lives depended on it, all that because they have the long ass wavy hair and so-called perfect face/complexion/body, YET they’re pressuring a GIFTED SINGER / RAPPER / SONGWRITER / COMPOSER / LYRICIST to swtch up her style as if it matters so much more than her creativity when all Estelle’s ever been was TRUE TO HERSELF and HER FANS? Estelle always put music first, looks second, and her looks reflect who she is, that’s the kinds of artists we need, if she’s that tomboyish chick let her BE just THAT!
Second of all, who cares about her teeth? They’re not perfect but they’re not horrible either, and also flaws give people’s faces character. Didn’t nobody ask Lil Jon or Jay-Z to undergo plastic surgery for their faces, ARE PEOPLE BUGGING FABOLOUS FOR HIS TOOTH? I say let the woman be who she is, we are happy with her MUSIC what is supposed to MATTER.
Why are people so SHALLOW!!!!!!!

Let’s face it, that is the way the record business is nowadays. She needs to get that work done to her teeth and hair so she can get on with the show! Look at Tracy Chatman…people got tired of looking at her face. Tracy only did like one video before her people told her to stop making them. She needed more than just a teeth job.
Do you seriously think that Roberta Flack and Dionne Warwick would have been successful if VIDEOS were out back in the day. People did not know Dionne had that wide nose and buck teeth until the 3 album and by that time they were hooked on her regardless. Even Luther barely made it with his big body and feminine self. I like Luther but he was not an Usher or Chris Breezy when it came to looks! People did not know what he looked like until the 3 album when he got his jerri curl and started wearing those sequence shirts (they were in back in the day lol)l!
GET ER DONE GIRL!!!
19.
COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!
Friday, April 11, 2008 /
^^^ People always knew how Missy looked like since she came out during the era of videos and she made it BIG, with short hair and being fat. Ne-Yo ain’t Usher or Chris Brown either (and Usher ain’t even that good looking) and he made it. Jay-Z ain’t good looking he made it. When the music speaks for itself, people overlook the fact that you don’t represent the standards of beauty.

I hope this sister stands her ground… unfortunately, most record labels will probably want similar or other changes.
Maybe she needs to go to same label as Amy Winehouse. They don’t seem too concerned about appearance/image all.

I agree with the label, as sad as it is that looks make or break a career the reality of it is that most of the people who agree with Estelle probably wont buy her album (its excellent btw). In order to do well in the entertainment business you need to have a certain look, or at least look slightly attractive
I dont see whats so wrong about her getting her hair and teeth fixed, if someone was offering me a free hairdo and some new teeth i’d accept.

What is interesting is that Estelle has compromised some what….she never use to be in dresses and heels and her hair was way shorter…..They need to be careful. One of the things people love about Estelle is that she original and honest… If she changes her look people will turn away from her… I think she is probably thinking if she changes those things, what’s next…the music, credibility,….. People keep forgetting Estelle is not new to this…She has been in the game for a decade or so…!What I find interesting is that the black singers have to look a certain way but the white singers don’t….Amy Winehouse’s record label has stood by her in spite of her crack whore appearances, the new singer Adele is clearly obese, Britney Spears was damn near sectioned…I hate to bring race, but it so obviously plays a part… I remember an interview with Estelle where she said her former label did not know what to do with her because she wasn’t uber feminine, light skinned and submissive… I say she should do what she feels…..I mean she has been successful thus far!

Oh no, I love Estelle. If she wants to keep her teeth the way they are that’s her
decision and if it affects her record sales then that’s a reflection of society and not on her album.
Wow, I feel for her, because everyone bounced to her tune, but now they’re just stuck up on her image.

I understand her frustration. But this is a business where you are constantly scrutinized and looked at as a piece of product. They want to sell you and they believe that she would appeal more to American’s because we OBVIOUSLY are Obsessed with looks and NOT TALENT. Look at most of our musicians, THEY CANT SING FOR SHIXXT. THis is a fact, it is rare that we care about talent anymore. Look at different countries, they bring their talent over here and we get all excited (i.e. imports like Amy Winehouse..) we go goo goo ga ga. Because we havent judged based on talent in a while.

AMERICA IS SO FIXATED WITH BEAUTY AND ITS PERCIEVED PURSUIT OF PERFECTION THAT IT HAS CREATED A FUK’D UP ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS ALIKE. HUMANS HAVE FLAWS WE ARE NOT ALL PERFECT AND WE SHOULD ACCEPT PEOPLE AS THEY ARE. OR YOU RUN THE RISK OF PUTTING UNREALISTIC PRESSURE ON YOURSELVES AND FEEDING THE EGO. AND NOT GROWING IN CHARACTER OR SELF. JOHN LEGEND AND KANYE SAW AND INVESTED IN A BEAUTIFUL TALENTED SISTER LET’S CELEBRATE THAT. IF SOMEONE WON’T BUY ESTELLE’S MUSIC IF THEY LIKE IT DUE TO HER APPEARANCE THEN IT SHOWS HOW FICKLE MISGUIDED AND SILLY THE POWERS THAT BE THINK AMERICANS ARE. IT ALSO SMELLS OF RACISM. LOOK AT AMY WINEHOUSE. SHE LOOKS A MESS. HER HAIR, WEIGHT. TEETH ETC. YET SHE HAS A SUCCESSFUL TRANSATLANTIC CAREER. BUT I AM FULLY AWARE I AM MAKING THIS COMMENT ON A BLOG WHERE SOME DVMB PEOPLE NOTICED IMAN’S ASHY FEET!
IT’S A SHAME THAT IN A COUNTRY OF PEOPLE THAT ARE CLEARLY NOT PERFECT. PERFECTION IS PASSED ON AS THE NORM. THEN WHEN THE PRESSURE GETS TOO MUCH AND THE BULIMIA ANOREXIA DRUGS AND ALCOHOL AND DEPRESSION COME AMERICANS RUN TO REHAB OR OPRAH.

Its her look and it works for her. Personally, I like her music and couldn’t care two licks about what her teeth or hair look like. This is just the music industry’s way of making everyone look and sound the same. Let me guess they want her to have long flowing hair that isn’t attached to her scalp and in a couple years she’ll be a white woman with asian eyes and unnatrally white teeth.

Its a shame that labels think you need to look a certain way to sell albums. I am one of the few consumers who doesnt care what you look like if you can sing then I am a fan period. If you cannot bounce! I dont know her music well enough but I did hear one song and I was liking her so if they want to change her they are stupid. She may need to look at another label but since she is probably contractly obligated all she can do is say no and hope they let it go and then sell her ass off and make them eat those stupid suggestions. I know it must be hard when you are not some quadron mullato like the new ish they are pumping with that Leona chick her music is not even hot but that chick is everywhere–why cuz she looks like massa been in the house…I am so tired of white people and coons telling black people they are not beautiful just the way they are. What type of stance would she really be making by not making the changes? She’s basically saying she doesn’t care to look better….Everyone knows (look at Rhianna,Cassie, etc. for example) that looks is a huge part of what makes an artist sucessful in the U.S.Talent usually is secondary.

On some real shit, she does need to get her teeth fixed. That change would make her look 100% better. As far as the hairstyle goes, I’m not understanding how it looks “tom boyish”. I definitely don’t agree with that comment. But I mean I can’t be mad at her for not wanting to change her look, but I don’t think getting work done on her teeth should be such a huge problem, it’s an upgrade and there’s nothing wrong with upgrading yourself for the better without it changing who you are as a person.

Wow stuff like this is why women who can really sing will never make it because of the IMAGE FACTOR. This is about more then her this is about the girls who have all the talent in the world better then more then half of these so called singers out now but can never get signed because they do not have the image that record companies can sell. And we are crazy to think Skin Color does not play an issue to who gets signed. It would be simply ridiculous to ignore it.

Her hair, her whole look is perfect! It’s what makes Estelle stand out. If she gets a weave all down her back and show more skin, i think she would start to actualy lose her fan base. She’d never have a release date in 3 weeks if label really demanded those changes. She’s cute but obviously she’s competing with more “conventially pretty” women and it makes sense for the label to eventually ask her to fix her teeth. She’s in a competitive business and looks are part of the competition.
Estelle you’re talented so I hope you win big, but fixing your teeth actually helps you in the long run anyway (i.e. dental hygiene, preventing oral cancers, etc.)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with her hair, it works well for her. It sets her apart. I will say that having worked in a doctor’s office, dental healthy is important. The doctor I interned with told me that lack of proper dental care is tied to heart disease, but it is her choice.

Estelle is beautiful . But trust me honey, when I got my braces back in high school, I blossomed into a new woman. So, get your teeth straightened with INVISILINE because YOU want to, not for your label.
But fuck those labels when it comes to your hair. America is caught up in heavy weaves and extension. You don’t need to look like Beyonce, Ciara or Ashanti to sell records. Keep the look.

Stella needs to know it cost to be the boss. So if she doesn’t want to fix what the employer thinks is broken then she should prepare to look for a new employer (job). Hell I would fix the hair and the teeth. It is not like they are asking her to get plastic surgery or something. Damn, she needs to stop whinning and do what it takes to make it. By the way Jay-z had a nice hair cut and teeth. So does Ne Yo and whoever was named. Shit, even Fanny fixed her grill. I tell you what I won’t buy a CD with a jacked up twisted mouth chick on it. And Ne yo better keep a hat on. Peace..

Now I can understand how she can use a bit of a makeover. I don’t think she’s tweaking the most potential out of her looks. It’s f–d up that they’re suggesting she get her beloved teeth fixed ;-), but this isn’t anything new. Image is a huge part of the entertainment industry.
Now if her handlers are suggesting she wear a long weave and/or lighten her skin to fit into the current mold of wannabe black Barbie dollls, there’s a problem there.
Barbra Streisand always got hell for her nose, model Lauren Hutton for her teeth, Cyndi Crawford’s nose, singer Jewell’s teeth, etc.

She should fix her teeth. But make the label pay for it. When you see people sing like in concerts or award shows you always notice their teeth, and their smile. I was just talking to someone last night about how I didn’t know Beyonce, Solange, Tyra, and a list of other black females had nose jobs, which makes their appearances very deceptive. Teeth and hair do not equal character. That is a superficial statement. Nonetheless, Estelle needs to realize that the industry is not about the content of the music it is about appearance and marketability. She could use orthodontic work there’s nothing wrong with that. She has alot of gums. Anywho, Estelle’s people need to holla at J. Holiday…his teeth are way worse than Estelle’s. His mouth looks like a can of corn niblets.

Estelle should stay true to herself. I have never noticed her teeth and the hair works good for her. I think everyone is missing the whole point here, it ios us with the problem, putting unrealistic expectations on Estelle when most of us typing on this post have glaring flaws. Could she use a trip to the dentist? yes but I think if she hasn’t changed it yet she is fine with it. and so should everybody else. What kind of society are we they we glorify people ( I loathe to call them singers) like Ashanti, Rihanna, Cassie, Brooke Valentine, TYra B. , etc.. None of these women are dark-skinned and they change their image on a dime because if they don ‘t there is someone just like them down the street and around the corner. They have their kneepad game on lock as well. I just think we as a people need to take more responsibility for the music we listen to instead of the label this and the label that. We are living in a backwards world where God-given talent is at the bottom and we are all falling for it.

GOD is too good for you to have to change who you are to fit into a mold! Stay true to self and know that God will direct your path.
That’s the problem with the US, they always focus on physical appearances and they wonder why so many people are on drugs, girls have eating disorders and people are dying to look beautiful! It’s such a disgrace!

Image is everything when it comes to marketing. Talent takes a back seat to what the public can visually appreciate. How else would you explain Ashanti. She clearly is not that talented, but the package that they created with her looks, the music that was selected for her, etc. makes her a marketable product. Record companies will do as much as possible to protect their investment, as well as see a return on that investment.

I have to agree with her label execs. I seen her at a show her in Cleveland on Teusday at a small venue. I was in the front right by her and the first thing I noticed was her hair. It looked kind of dry and frizzy and her teeth are jacked up. It looked bad to me and I personally think it wouldn’t be a big deal for her to make those minor changes. At least she should fix the teeth, her hair really isn’t that bad. Just needs to get touched up with a flat iron and some oil. It doesn’t take away from her talent, because she did put on a good show and I will cop her album if she fixes her teeth or not.

It’s so fuc*@d up that America’s standard of beauty is so jacked! I don’t think that Estelle should have to compromise her appearance to sell records! This is one of the many reasons I love India Arie. She stayed true to herself and never let the record companies decide what she should look like to sell records. It’s so sad that artists like these don’t fit into the mainstream b/c of their looks but in the end they do what makes them happy and that is the most important of all. To HELL pleasing everyone else!

She’s disgusting looking as hell and there not trying to change her !!!! She has sores all over her face and body she is slowly but surely dying from her refusal to go to rehab and ive heard her live and believe me she can’t sing worth a damn!!! She sounds like shit live.. Her whole album wasn’t even written by her and the studio’s million dollar plus equipment made her sound better than she really does they need to leave her alone.. She’s so talented and original … They did the same thing to India arie her voice is so beautiful she can sing a whole lot if people in the industry under the table but she hasn’t gotten her due because she doesn’t look like Alicia keys…it should be her chose to do these things it should be her decision not the dumb record labels trying to make money off her looks but should be concerned with her talent!!!!

If people don’t by Estelle’s music I don’t think it has anything to do with her not “looking like” or “being like” Beyonce or any other “average” singer. They don’t make the same type of music so naturally there’s going to be a difference in fans. One is going to appeal to more people than the other. But you know it’s okay to like both artists…I’m a fan of both artists…nothing to do with how either of them look. I will be honest and say that I don’t watch tv or listen to the radio to hear new songs. The only reason I know of Estelle is because I am a avid Concrete reader. I still haven’t heard her music but I haven’t had much desire to look into it because she hasn’t grabbed my attention my her appearance. She is a beautiful girl but she just looks like the girl next door with the way she dresses and wears her hair…it doesn’t say STAR to me. It isn’t because her hair is short (Rihanna has short hair) she simply doesn’t stand out. I never really knew who she was when I would see her on the Loop. Her look say’s “Girl behind the scenes ie publicist, hair stylist etc. Unfortunately, this business is nasty and you have to decide if you are going to be true to yourself or make the suggested changes that you feel take away from your character. Some folks change it up some folks keep it original ie India.Aire, Jill Scott, Eryka Badu and make it…the choice is up to you. However, I will say that she looks real bland to me. I dont’ see personaility in her look at all.

In reality thats how the world is ..not everyone looks the same. so thats how the industry should display people . keep it funky ..not everyone wakes up in the morning w/ shimmered eyes and glossy lips…every1 should stay tru to themselves

The only concern the Labels should have about her is her music. And from what I’ve heard so far, they should not be disappointed with her talent. She is Musician not a Beauty contestant.
This sends a bad message to our youth. We usually encourage them to do their best in school and tell them they can become successful in life if they work hard enough.
Now we have to tell them that they have to look a certain way to become successful because looks matter more than anything else. SMDH.

If the girl is comfortable with her image then that’s all that matters.
Estelle wouldn’t give a fuck what nobody said about her no way.
It’s okay to be different, EVERYBODY doesn’t have to fit a certain image.

cmon yall, its not cute to look at someone with jacked teeth. she should get her teeth done. Jewel should too. its not cute. it is distracting. As soon as chris rock had money he got his teef done. So did 50 cent. It does a world of good. You cant even clean them properly when they look like that.
Spend the money, endure the pain and fix your fricken teeth.
Idris Elba wouldnt look 1/2 as cute if his teeth werent straight and shinin. And he is british. (who are notorious for having bad teeth)- somehow he made it. or made the right choice for aesthics and for his career.

To be honest this is how the industry is today. I mean yes Missy done well but she came out a good 12 yrs ago and as the years go on the generations get even more shallower. Changing your image comes with the territory. If Estelle does not want to accept that then oh…well. Further more its not like a major change its just straightening up some teeth and a hairstyle. I don’t see how straightening up teeth is going to hurt anyone (well except the person undergoing the procedure) - and i didn’t even notice her teeth. Oh and hair, people change it all the time its just hair! She can change that back once she is big in the game, but we should know by now that no one tends to have complete control over themselves when they first come out as an artist (even if their a faux artist), because the record label wants to see some money made. Then once your generating profit for them they tend to losen up on you.
And im from the UK - but i don’t have an “allegiance” per se, just an opinion…

#10 I get what your saying but look at J holiday. He is fine as all get out, talented, has jacked up bottom teeth, yet he lives in AMERICA…..
The record industry only cares about MONEY and image. They know artists are their meal tickets and they will continue to bring good artists down.
I like Estelle and if she sees no problem with her look, then she shouldn’t change. The minute she changes her look to satisfy those money hungry record execs, they will find something else she needs to change. It’s her choice to do so and it should only be her choice.

What the hell are you guys talking about???? Her teeth are fine!!!! What is wrong with them???? Cuz they are probably better than what yours (the haters) will ever be! She doesn’t need to change herself the american record execs do, they make me so sick sometimes with their infatuation for physical perfection! LEAVE HER ALONE! ESTELLE JUST DO YOU! F**K THE HATERS!

That’s necessary. Who complains about someone wanting to pay you to look better?
She should jump at the change to fix them fangs.
It ain’t her fault she has ‘em; but it’s her fault if she refuses to fix ‘em.

In record company language what they are telling her is that she is not half white with green eyes and long silky hair. She has that black girl India Arie look. The British record company ain’t much better when it comes to black gals either. They only promote the mixed exotic Sade looking singers. It’s a shame that black gals can’t get no love on any parts of this earth. If she were mixed she would definitely have a deal, jacked up grill or not.

Regardless of how she looks, she is still very talented. Look at Rihanna, we all know she can’t really sing, but she’s very beautiful and that’s why she is soo big right now. One’s image is everything in the music industry. The more beautiful you look, the more records you will selll, which is really unfortunate. However, I do have to admit that Estelle’s teeth is a bit messed up, and with all that money she is making, I don’t understand why she wouldn’t want to have that fixed. I guess she doesn’t want to change for nobdoy and stay true to herself, which is absolutely understandable. Do you, Estelle!

LMAO! Now, talk about a concert or music review. I hear you bo!!! LOL!
They should pay you to do reviews, lol!
Also, people aren’t jealous of America. People come here to “make money” and especially from ignorant African-American, who just happen to be the biggest spender of money. The first thing they tell immigrants when they come here who wants business is go and set up shop in the ghettos, hoods, etc,. because those people “us” like to spend money. We don’t believe in unity, and helping each other. We believe in wearing fancy clothes, the most expensive clothings, and drinking and partying. So, if you want to get rich; go to the hood.
A lot of people too only come here to make money and build their own places some of us can’t even imagine in their country of origin. So, please don’t think people are that jealous of us.

In America, physical appearance is everything for women. Men can look like shit and still get over. The interesting thing about her teeth is that, the British have famously poor teeth. They don’t frequent the dentist. I don’t think asking her to get the teeth fixed is a bad thing. If you want to crossover sister, pay attention.

I wonder if you people (who agree with the record label about Estelle changing her looks) would tell your own children that they’re f*cked up in the face if it were to be “imperfect”.This industry strayed from measuring success with talent rather than looks.Madonna has gapped front teeth,Beyonce’s perm never look laid at the root(we know her hair is thick),Timbaland’s sausage neck,Ciara’s above average female height,50 Cent (period),Jay-Z’s nose,Akon’s…(just Akon),Britney’s sloped eyes,Queen Latifah’s size,Missy’steeth,Tupac’s overbite (his teeth were big too…and LONG) and Biggie was “black and ugly as ever,However..”.To a degree,I understand but I feel those decisions should be left up to her,not her company.Did Coco (from SWV) get her braces because of her label?Nope. Why should she?By the way,Tracy Chapman is another type of performer and I’m sure if she was to drop another album,it’ll be successful (besides, she’s a very talented singer/songwriter).Do we really need ‘these people’(I’m sure they’re either white or brainwashed) determine gauges of black beauty? If so ,we’re all screwed (I’m keeping my dreads) Take a look BLACK AMERICA….YOU”RE ABOUT TO BE FORCED TO TRANSFORM TOO.Keep it real.Sista Estelle, wipe your ass with their “suggestions”,Talent is forever.

I AM ONE OF ESTELLS HAIR STYLIST WHEN SHE IS IN NYC AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE RECORD LABEL EXECUTIVES. AND NONE OF THATS IMPORTANT BECAUSE SHE IS A GROWN WOMAN WHO WILL DO IT HER WAY OR NOT AT ALL. ESTELLE IS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT. AND FOR ALL OF YOU ORTHODONTIC CARE STUDENTS WHO ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT HER TEETH, SHE NOW HAS BRACES, SO CHEW ON THAT!

I saw Estelle live last Friday & did not know about this controversy until yesterday. I must say that I am disappointed with the choice she has to make.
Although I find relaxed hair in general not desirable, I thought her style was good & worked for her.
In regards to her oral situation, she currently has braces or something like that so maybe she is seeing a benefit. Regardless to how her teeth look, the woman can throw down & that is most important to me.
It’s sad to see how female artists with darker complexions are treated.
I took photos at her Detroit show & she looks damn good to me!

COMPLETE COSIGN
It would be too easy and way too wrong to judge all americans and british people who come here and offer their crazy perception of beauty. It is only the jaded idiotic brainwashed tabloid believeing immature wannabes who hang on to every thing thought criticism and word. Those groupies and fashion followers who wear everything the “stars” wear to gain street cred and popularity that come on here and tear down their own people and compare everyone from an unrealistic stand point of perfect which they are far from is ridiculous. Like I have said, only when you get bullied for not fitting in, outcasted because you are too dark, picked on because you are “different” and go through rehab, anorexia, bulima or depression then you run to rehab and Oprah and self help gurus telling you that first we build you up then we bring you down “simply because we can”
How come the majority of people on here were not like “Fuk the industry we like her music and her as an artist” so don’t ever change ESTELLE, if John Legend and Kanye who are great artists believed in a fellow artists fuk these pitiful hopefulls on here who will never taste success…but some of them yearn for it with a passion.
You people make me sick to the point I feel rage when you critic a beautidful (inside and out) artist because she deviates ffrom the norm.

I like the style Estelle is rocking, so unique and her voice is off the richter scale, stay true to you. Yolanda Adams (gospel singer) teeth was the same way, she eventually had them fixed but that came way way way down the line, she had already established herself in the industry. Stay true to you atleast she’s real unlike Lola Luv, jeesh people are never satisified, they would rather a black woman dumb herself down and look fake and whack rather than be true to herself.

Truth be told, your image does play a big part of selling records, but as soon as she change something, oh she fake–well lets keep it real. Realness attracts real people. So people who want buy are not real, because real people don’t all have pearly white straight teeth, and long flowing hair. Girl you are a
Diva and a beatiful sister, let your work speak for you.
