this type of euro-techno stuff is hitting american airwaves. for instance, dont stop the music by rihanna was not supposed to be released in the USA but only europe cause it was number 1 fuh a good set of weeks over there. it was really big in europe, but then the americans catched on to the song and from there dont stop the music was liked by the mainstream audience of america. it peaked number 3 on billboard hot 100. from that moment, dont stop the music was used on dancing with the stars this season and american idol’s idol give back event where the contestants opened the show with it.

i think chris is crossing over to the mainstream audience cause that is where the money and popularity are.

Chris’ MJ impersonations have become so blantant. Its as if he doesnt even try to hide it. Probably because we let him get away with it. I for one will not stand for it.

First of all, who the eff is “Metro”? Never heard of that dude b4, and after watching the video, I see why. On a side note, I like the sample that was used, I think it’s an All Green old school song (correct me if i’m wrong) and I like Bobby V. It’s too bad he isn’t with DTP anymore, altho it might be better for his career as, realistically, DTP is a sinking ship anyway…the only artist doing big numbers on that label is Luda, obviously.

Chris Brown is smart for jumping on the euro-pop sound that is big right now…Janet, Ne Yo, Timbaland and Usher have all had singles recently that have been heavily synthesized, so it’s seems like it’s the direction r&b is heading in for ‘08…and really, don’t we all like a little bit of variety, instead of the same generic beats?

What I can’t co-sign is the whole re-releasing cds deal. I feel like it’s beginning to be too much, and it leaves the true fans @ a disadvantage. I already bought Chris’ cd back in November (mine is the deluxe version, with a dvd that had the ‘Wall 2 Wall’ and ‘Kiss Kiss’ videos), so why the heck am i gonna shell out more money to buy the re-release? I feel like, altho the cd sold relatively well, how much do they really think they are gonna sell the 2nd time around? Like why the heck is Fergie re-releasing her cd, when that ish came out like 2 years ago? Time/energy is better spent on a completely new project…now that my rant is over…

I personally like the “Forever” video and song and I think it will do very well on the charts. However I do agree with #83 vee (the real one) and #90 lizgotsumthintosay. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH DATING SOMEONE OF A DIFFERENT ETHNICITY (beacuse there is only the HUMAN RACE) but very few non-black artists feature black women as objects of desire in their videos so why should we? Not to be decisive but if we (black artists) so “open minded” with our “video chicks” why aren’t other people (White, Latino, Asian, etc.). Very few times have I seen a beautiful classy portrayal of a darker-complexion black women and I’ve seen plenty of them in real life. All of these songs are dredful, I cant believe how bad r&b and hip-hop are at the moment its ridiculous! Every urban artist seems to be trying to make Dance tracks and thats sooo annoying- just so they can sell to white people. What happened to making great quality music, songs arent just about having a good beat.

Chris Brown–I can definitely appreciate him doing new things…it’s absolutely nothing wrong with an artist evolving and having a couple of pop hits. The video is VERY reminiscent of the MJ video with the tight silver suit and all the light effects. I like it.

The Dream–I LOVE that CD, I was actually ashamed to admit, but he sings on real topics. I like the video wasn’t extremely predictable to the story line with the dancing girls. He has cool videos.

Plies–Oh my goodness! Bust it Baby PART 2!! LOL!! I think it was a very good look putting Ne-yo on the song. I will admit I like the song…with all the profanity bleeped out.

Metro–I may be late, but I don’t know who he is…The song is cool though, very “rapper in love” LOL!!

#105 Urban artist are forced to go pop because the fans are downloading music for free at alarming rates. Chris Brown is serving himself well to continue to put out mainstream records. The mainstream is downloading too but by making your music more universal you have a better chance of selling more product to REAL RECORD BUYERS. I think music now is being made by some amazing writers and producers. Urban music is great right now because the producers and writers are writing in so many styles that it has the traditional white producers shaking in their boots. Guys like Polow, Timbaland, Tricky and Dream, Jonta Austin and Neyo are not only making big records for Black artists but big records for white and international artist as well. These guys are making records for Celine Dion, Chris Cornell,, Pussy Cat Dolls, Sting, Maroon 5, and many others. Not to mention these brothers are getting millions to do this we should be proud. Stop hating!!!!!

Dream- His voice can be annoying but the song is cool. Young Jezzy sounded stupid (what does Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have to do with this song?).

Plies- He is cute but really can’t rap. I hate the Bust it Baby concept.

Music really ain’t original any more … these guys be “sampling” (biting) other folks stuff left and right. “Bust It Baby Part 2″ is a straight jack of Janet Jackson’s “Come Back to Me” from almost 20 years ago. The only reason I can actually listen to “Bust It - 2″ at all is b/c “Come Back to Me” was one of my favorite slow jams back in the day. Take that sample and Ne-Yo’s hook outta the song, and Plies would suck all on his own (wait, wasn’t that “Bust It Baby, Part 1?).
The melody on “I Luv Your Girl” sounds an awful lot like “Any Love,” by the late Luther Vandross. (I hope proper credit was given on The-Dream’s album). And the video is tired. The song is a lil catchy, but a video like this won’t help it any. Oh well.
Not feeling the C-Breezy joint. I think he’s one of the most overrated “young entertainers” around. But then again, I guess you can sell anything to hormonal teenage girls. *SMDH*

To all of you hating on the white/light chicks in CB’s videos, he probably doesn’t pick them himself. A lot of times artists have very little say so on who or what is in their videos–they hire people to take care of all that–don’t blame him.

Not that race matters, but Chris Brown is not mixed in the sense that either of his parents is White. His mother is light-skinned and probably has White prominently in her bloodline, but she is NOT White. Why get caught up on the race issue anyway–this is supposed to be about the music not his color.

I understand that Chris is trying to go the euro-pop music route(hence the leading girl in the video) but that doesn’t mean it’s gonna work for him. Rihanna does the euro-pop stuff because it works for her- it fits her style. If she tries the R&B stuff, it doesn’t work and she flunks[ala "Take A Bow"]. She doesn’t have the urban appeal. Chris, on the other hand, has both the mainstreem AND urban appeal so I don’t get why he’s overly doing it by putting this crap out.
