I checked out that site. It’s despicable. Many of the comments on there by those in law enforcement were just sick. I live in NYC and I see so many arrogant officers who abuse their authority. I’m interested to know what your thoughts are on how we as a community can come together. I protested with Charles Barron, other community leaders, organizations, etc. showed solidarity with the Bell family at vigils and I’m so sick and tired of what’s going on. I’m just really sick and tired of all these injustices. I’m interested in seeing us move to a place of dialogue on what we can do.

First of all as many are, I am so outraged and saddened by this absurd verdict!

Second of all —–For people who think that just because 1 or two of the officers were Black themselves that this does not mean that racism has anything do with this case, they really need to think again. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing happening to a white man? I don’t think so. Also throughout history, black people have been conditioned against one another. Many Black people harbor the same prejudices and hatred towards their own people as their White counterparts. So People Please Please Wake Up! If you have not heard of the colonized mind or the about the psychological impact of centuries of racism, slavery and colonization on Black people, please read Franz Fanon! As many have said we Black people need to band and stick together!

While with my man, we have been stopped more than a couple of times. The police officers have often demanded to know what we ( as Black people) were doing in the town. One time I even had to show my college id to the officer to prove that I went to Wellesley! Now tell me why was this even necessary?So yes people wake up racism is alive and well. You should have watched larry king. The boy did not have a job. He was selling drugs “present tense” note dates of arrests. This was a fair and just trial based on who was more creidable. and you are right there is more to this story then what either party has said. Where are the strippers that he had the fight with? There where more then the police and the 3 “thugs” in the club that night where they at. All those people could have testified but they didn’t. Why? The “love of God” is to keep the commandments, not give every one a damn hug and lower your head to the chopping block over and over again (John 14:15, I John 5:3, etc.). The Lord’s Word tells you that when Christ comes back, not only will he put the other races into hardcore slavery for their crimes against the Lord’s people, the Israelites, but that He and the angels will kill so many people that the blood will come up to the bridles of their horses. Either you believe or you don’t but don’t allege that I have no “sense” when you have no knowledge.

Unless you can tell me who “white people” are known as in the Bible, who “black people” are known as in the Bible, “Chinese”, “Japanese”, etc. we cannot have a conversation because we’d be speaking two different languages. There are no terms like “African”, “Japanese”, or “Chinese” in the Bible so either you’re simple enough to believe that those people didn’t exist back then or you have the understanding that they were known by their biblical names at the time. The Bible is a historical book, not an emotional one, and to serve God you must love the truth in context with the history, not you’re opinion. the judge made a good decision. it wasnt intentional and they were just trying to do there job. it had nothing to do with race. its just that they were uncooperative and each party believed their life was endanger. also bell didn’t get shot 30 times or 50 thats just how many shots were fired. it happens real quick. it doesnt matter how many was fired its as many shots as it takes to stop the threat. there are criminals and killers that do this intentionally everyday, some cops made a mistake and your ready to put them in the same category’s as murderers. i wish people would grow up and look at things outside the box and not be so ignorant.

The NY Post just reported that after the verdict Nicole and her father recieved a phone call at their home during which the caller laughed at them and hung up–the call was traced to the Sergeants Benevolent Association, a NY police union. They had just returned from the verdict and visiting Sean Bell’s grave site when they recieved the call.

Throughout this country’s history people of color (and other non-wealthywhitemales) have been publicly and privately abused, and that abuse is very often sanctioned or covered up by the government. Now, tragically, this innocent young man’s life was taken by a barrage of NYPD bullets. The men who shot at him 50 times have been released without punishment by the courts of America.

For a long time, I have been keenly aware of the racism that exists in our public and private institutions, especially the criminal justice system. Particularly due to my involvement in the recent incident, I have paid special attention to how the media reports on this story.

I found it curious that on CNN Crime, at the very bottom is a list of “usual suspects.” The linked photos include a child rapist and murderer, as well as the former police officer suspected of murdering at least two of his former wives. Among the four photos was also a photo of Sean Bell. Why is this young man’s photo displayed among a group of suspected criminals? Sean Bell’s photo has been listed under “Usual Suspects” on CNN Crime for several months now…

The media has blatantly blanketed this case in racist/elitist propaganda, describing the crime scene as a “seedy stripclub.” The worst is the intentional degradation of this young man’s character and the character of the other victims. The way he chose to have a private celebration with his friends, during which he at no time became violent, should be irrelevant! But, that has obviously impacted many peoples feelings about this man.

The media owes this man’s family an apology. But, unfortunately, I know full well that in today’s world, an apology is not an acknowledgment of guilt and decision to do better, but a corporate compromise to silence opposition. Apologies won’t change these people’s minds.

Furthermore, I fully realize the legal burden of proof required in this case, and also acknowledge the fact that the Bell family will probably (hopefully) get a large civil settlement and receive at least some type o retribution and acknowledgment of guilt. However:

The fraction of the amount of money spent to silence the dissent against racism pales in comparison to the exorbitant revenue gained by oppressing minorities!!!”

The words used in American public and private discourse to describe persons of “minority” cultures have a deep meaning about how America truly feels about diversity and acceptance.

All these issues that my opponents say are used as “race bait” are, in fact, roots/branches of the same rotten tree.

Sean Bell’s murder and the acquittal of those men who brutally and ruthlessly shot an unarmed man are evidence of how America truly feels about us. The situation is dire and the time is now.

i live in brooklyn, ny and the streets are definitly in an uproar right now. I was outside on friday following the verdict and everyone’s blood was boiling. sad 2 say im not surprised, amadou was shot 41 times and he wasn’t leaving a strip club he was entering his own apartment and those officers got off as well!!!!!!!!!!!! black ppl we really need 2 get our shit together or else there will never be change. i’m only 18 but im pretty sure if this was back in the 60’s or 70’s all hell would be breaking loose! I’m not promoting a riot or anything but we cant just sit back quietly while they kill us. This makes me so sick. I sat an cried about it. When young life is taken for no reason except for the color of his skin and the “stero types” and a trigger happy cop it hurts me. It also hurts to know that those cops are verdict “not guilty”. I just hope the cops and the judge enjoys their slow burn in hell for this. I hope those cops that shot him 50 times can’t sleep and can’t live with what they have done. I hope it eats away them until they shells of their former racist selves. With this verdict I am once again reminded that because I am BLACK I essentially have no rights. This man was celebrating his upcoming nuptials and was shot down in hail of bullets because he didn’t have the right complexion, which is what it all boils down to, for protection. Had he been a white man in Manhattan, New York he would have probably been escorted to his condo in the heart of the city and given a slap on the wrist.
