NEWS: COPS ACQUITTED IN SEAN BELL CASE

Friday, April 25, 2008

CROWD REACTS TO THE VERDICT

A crowd reacts to the verdict in the Sean Bell shooting case outside the Queens County Criminal Courts Building in New York Friday, April 25.

Three detectives were acquitted of all charges Friday in the killing of Sean Bell. Bell died after being bombarded with 50 bullets by the New York Police Department back in 2006.

Detectives Michael Oliver and Gescard Isnora were found not guilty of charges of manslaughter, assault and reckless endangerment in the death of Sean Bell, 23, and the wounding of two of his friends. Detective Marc Cooper was acquitted of reckless endangerment.

Justice Arthur Cooperman said he found problems with the prosecution’s case. He said some prosecution witnesses contradicted themselves, and he cited prior convictions and incarcerations of witnesses.

As the judge read his decision, Nicole Paultre Bell — Sean Bell’s fiancee — ran from the courtroom crying, saying, “I’ve got to get out of here.”

Backstory

In the early morning hours of Nov. 25, 2006, Sean Bell, a 23-year-old New York City man due to be married later that day, walked out of a Queens strip club, climbed into a gray Nissan Altima with two friends who had been celebrating with him - and died in a hail of 50 bullets fired by a group of five police officers.

The shooting shocked the city and brought back memories of the deaths in other high-profile police shootings - in particular, the death of Amadou Diallo, an African peddler killed after police fired 41 shots at him in 1999. Both men were black and both were unarmed, although in both cases the officers appeared to have believed the suspect had a gun. While the death of Mr. Bell did not prompt the same levels of rage and protest as the Diallo case, it prompted unsettling questions about the changes in police procedures adopted in recent years, and about whether black men remained unfairly singled out for aggressive police action.

Imagine That

Friday, April 25, 2008 /

So here is our reality. Wesley Snipes (like him or not) gets 3 years for not filing a tax return, a misdemeanor, and these 3 clowns (the brothaz included) are acquitted for shooting an unarmed civilian. NYPD has a history of abuse and excessive force. We should, however, respect the police. The world should STOP when one of them goes down in the line of duty.

This man was getting married (Cosby & Co say we don’t really do that), had a relationship with his children (both by the same woman) and was moving to the next stage of life. He is murdered in a hail of 50 bullets. Too bad Sean Bell wasn’t at f*ckin pit bull, perhaps there would be more outrage.

As much as I like Barack Obama, even he can’t CHANGE this.

I have no words for that bullshit verdict…it’s just unbelievable that they can get away with killing an unarmed man. It’s just a sad day in history. They are just sending out a message to cops that they can do whatever they want. Did they even get fired? Still wouldn’t justify the situation but they never need to hold guns again…

its cops period, they think they can get away with murdering. It is too easy for cops to kill. What happened to morals. Thou shall not kill. no matter if you’re a cop or not. this is ridiculous. i don’t believe you should shoot more then at the most ten shots….DANG!! whats up with that. And they wonder why us young people don’t respect the police. but really its in the big cities like New York and L.A. they just lost hope THEY SO SCARED THEY SHOOTING EVERY BODY. As a 16yo girl this scares me being in a world were you can get killed by the police, for LOOKING suspicious. This made me so mad and i don’t even watch the news and stuff like that. i feel so bad for his girlfriend…the police turned a wedding into a funeral… and don’t even care. i’m done with those kind of cops.

I agree w/ #3. It doesn’t make it right but instead of yelling “injustice” or getting upset… we have to do better. I don’t wanna be another statistic and I’m sure no one else does so act like it. I definitely do not think the judge made the right decision but I wasn’t there so I can’t fully judge the case. I feel the “reasons” are bullshit and until someone sits down (aka that judge) and explains why those “reasons” cause an acquittal, I will feel this an another permanent injustice to SOCIETY.

30.

MISSBROWNEYES

Friday, April 25, 2008 /

Soo I’m thinking for them to get acquitted of all 3 charges they must’ve had a DAMN good excuse for shooting at an unarmed man 50 times. I mean better than “we thought he had a gun”.. because it doesn’t take 50 shots to take somebody down.. that’s extremely excessive and unneccessary. SoOo since there MUST be some hell of an explanation I’m gonna need to hear one. Hell I need to hear one of why they were acquitted from the judge. This is complete bullshit and this is the world we live in.. wait I mean COUNTRY we live in. And we’re supposed to have faith in America and think it’s the best place ever.. wow.

This is so sad. Not surprising, but very sad. All we can do is pray. God has a plan for us all. And all these evil basta*rds will reap what they have sown one day. The ultimate judge is GOD.

This judge claims the prosecutions case was weak… of course it was. The witnesses were contradicting themselves and making stuff up. But who can remember all the little details when there are bullets flying past your head?? Come on! The prosecution didnt want to win anyway. Its just another one of those systymatic injustices built in to keep us down and out or dead. And judges these days are not worth the cheap ass chinese made robe they wear. They could have at least been found guilty on the assault and reckless endangerment charges!! After living in NYC for 3 years, I could see right away that anybody can be an NYC cop. The cops I saw in the hood would spend the day getting at girls, cockilly bossing people around, riding around aimlessly and eating dunkin donuts. I know being a cop is hard - your life is in danger every day. And from what I understand, a random man fleeing to his car does not make him a suspect. And if these cops had time to shoot 50 rounds AND RELOAD - they had time to GET THEIR A$$ES OUT OF THE WAY of Mr. Bell’s car!!!!! What cowards! They could have shot at the tires - but no - they aimed right at him! This country is a trip! In the next few weeks, well be writing again - about how they are going extra hard on Barack. Just wait - they have only just begun to politically lynch him!

We been covering Sean Bell’s case over at Highbrid Nation from the start and when I read today that the police officers were acquitted I was in serious disbelief. An unarmed man was shot 50 times and the people who did it are not responsible at all!? That’s crazy.

Think about Michael Vick and his boys. They killed dogs and they are all serving time..U was just reading that one of the charges against the cops was reckless endangerment. The one cop shot 31 times and reloaded, that sounds like reckless to me…It’s a sad day. They ask us to have faith in the justice system and things like this happen. The sad part about it is that it’s not the firt time and it won’t be the last…My prayers go out to the family.

That’s BS if no weapon was found, so what if they were incarcerated before if they didn’t have a gun then they shouldn’t have fired 50 rounds like that. It sounds to me that people need to stand up and protest these officers who are in charge of ” so called protecting” them.

WTF! I’M SO UPSET REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE JUDGE ISSUED THIS ACQUITTAL ON ALL THREE OF THE OFFICERS. IN MY OPINION I BELIEVE THE OFFICERS PAID THE JUDGE OFF. I ALSO TRUELLY BELIEVED THAT THE OFFICERS WOULD NOT BE CHARGED FROM THE POINT OF WHICH THEY ANNOUNCED MANSLAUGHTER AND MISDEMEANOR CHARGES IF ANY WOULD BE PURSUED. THIS WORLD IS RIDDLED WITH RACISM. ALL WAYS HAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE. AS FOR THE COMMENT BY #3 (NYC) NO MATTER WHAT THE WITNESSES SAID AND HOW INCONSISTENT THE STORIES WERE FACT STILL REMAINS A MAN WAS KILLED.

This was a very unusual case in that
1. There was no jury. The Judge Made the decision entirely
2. The DA’s office really didn’t want to prosecute the cops. They only did so because there were pressured by the African American Community & Mayor Bloomberg

I believe in my heart that The Prosecution Lost this case on purpose

Here’s an article to support my belief:
In the Sean Bell case, it was the gang that couldn’t prosecute straight

@ #13

Even if the story did change day after day it doesn’t take 50 shots to realize a man doesn’t have a weapon. Please don’t defend racism because you are making an ass out of yourself!!! I work in a police agency and see cops get slapped on the wrist all the time. You better believe those cops will just keep climbing up the latter while a young family is out here without a father. This story just makes me sick to my stomach because it a senseless act of violence. America wonders why black men are so angry…..this is the shit they have to go through.

51.

JUDAH

Friday, April 25, 2008 /

It’s unfortunate, but predictable. I wouldn’t call it sad because, in my opinion, the sad thing is that black people continually expect justice in a society where they’ve never gotten it. The judge cites the inconsistencies of Bell’s friends but on a night when those cats were pissy drunk, how the hell can you expect their stories to match up detail for detail? We know that none of them were armed and that the devil emptied his clip, reloaded, and emptied another one but that was not enough I guess. It’s obvious that if a man empties two clips the intent is to leave no one alive. Just say that the case was drawn out because it was a media trial and leave it at that. An idiot could see that the pigs were going to get found not guilty as soon as dirt was exposed about Bell and his friends. When there is a trial involving the black man, he must be spotless and blameless from birth because the court system will try to use a candy bar that he stole in the 4th grade as justification for his murder or imprisonment. Only the caucasian is allowed a second chance or redemption. In addition to that, it was a non-jury trial left in the hands of one “judge”(Deut 32:31).

His wife will be given a certain monetary compensation under the table, if she hasn’t already, from both Bloomberg and Sharpton’s coon National Action Network to shut up in addition to the money that she will get in the upcoming civil trial because money is supposed to compensate perpetual indignities to our people. Sharpton was sent out from the start to smother Bell’s wife and family from saying anything inflammatory and he will be used until everything dies down to keep a certain amount of attention on the case while concurrently telling the masses of black people how they should respond or think. This system that has been developed really is brilliant when you analyze it because the white man has ensured that black people will oppress themselves due to lack of self-knowledge and certain hand chosen black leaders can be used, if necessary, to drown out the small number of blacks that see through the facade. The cops at the verdict reading were unnecessary because there was no chance of any riots by these negroes. This is not the late 1980’s or early 1990’s anymore. Black people want to accept homosexuality, lesbianism, and love the white man before any real concern with themselves. In a sense, our people get what they deserve.

Lord give us strength!

Our race is indeed headed for extinction. Between black on black crime, HIV/AIDS, police brutality, an unjust justice system, and the destruction of the nuclear BLACK family ( no offense to anyone in an interracial relationship) it has become difficult for us from a pure numbers standpoint.

Please let us love each other. Educate each other. Hold each other up. Raise our children.

You may feel helpless in helping with the Sean Bell situation, but you can do something small today to uplift your people.

Every black woman: go out today and tell a black man, “I love you, brother.” Share your home cooked meal with your neighbor.
Every black man: hold the door open or give up your seat for a black woman. Help your neighbor bring in her groceries or wash her car.

@24For anyone who thinks this is not a race thing, they are in another world from ours. True, one of the cops was black, but you better believe that black cop got off because of the other white officers involved. If he were by himself, BELIEVE ME, he would have lost his job or served some time- definitely penalized- not exonerated like this.

ALL CROOKED COPS will get a a taste of their own medicine one way or another. They may get off from the courthouse, but they can not run from God. How many of us know too well, that what goes around, COMES AROUND. These cops will SUFFER one way or another, they no longer have peace in their life….

Agreed! I can’t believe people are shocked by this verdict! Anyway, they get away with it by man, but never with God, okay people….Never!

I hope they can sleep at night! Fifty bullets just ain’t right. I mean like someone said; ” They could’ve shoot at tires or something” you would’ve thought after Amadou Diallo, they would’ve learn this.

I really feel badly for the family, but, God has a plan and every man has a birthday and death day. It was his time to go even if we don’t want to hear this. May the family keep their faith in the one and only.

Wow! Even though I wasn’t surprise; it still hurts to see the cops walk away.
Oh! yeah, even though I don’t believe in being cruel to animals, in America those animals have reach the level of “lil people” and even they have more respect then a “black man” so don’t be surprise by that.

Wesley Snipes, knew he had to pay taxes like the rest us poorer people, so, please respect the Bell family. This doesn’t compare to what he did. Mr Bell, didn’t know what was coming to him and Snipes did.

I am not at all surprised by this verdict because if you can shoot an unarmed man who was reaching for his wallet and get away with it then anything and everything is allowed by the corrupt NYPD. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and live around the corner from one of the most corrupt precincts in New York City. I have witnessed crimes against black males that were unwarranted. My family has protested and my father participated in many of the meetings at the precinct and one of the biggest problems was the turnout. You can not wait for an egregious act to be committed in order to be involved in your community. Police seem to be able to do whatever it is that they want because the law is on their side. To Sean Bell’s family it is a tragedy and unfortunate and basically criminal that these savages are not held accountable for their blatant attack on three unarmed black men.

Who cares if the story changed a million times!!! The fact of the matter is Over 50 shots and no weapon was found on the Bell crew!!!! Point blank! If the officers did yell freeze or whatever… the guys were drunk leaving a strip club… they probably were loud, and hyped and didnt hear the officers or take them seriously. If it was at night they could have thought they were about to get jacked or mugged. Anyway………
This is the most ridiculous and disheartening thing ever. I am so sick and tired of overzealous and trigger happy police officers slaughtering people in the street for no reason. Its incidents like this that make us not trust the law inforcement. I hate cops… they often suffer from and bad case of grandiosity or narcisism or some other superiority complex. When it’s all said and done, They do what ever they want. And the cost is a life they deem unworthy. Its so many drug dealers, murderers, molestors, rapist and all of that all over the average urban area…but every day black men that have some sort of positivity going on are the ones they snuff out. Not the scum. This man was about to be married. How many young men his age are thinking about marriage? Settling down and starting a life with someone? Why is it always a school kid getting good grades, a college student home on break, a family man coming home late from doing a double shift? Why is it that it is never some murderous thug? Why is it never a known repeat pedifile? THEY are killing and jailing our black men! How can we progress if we dont have our strength in tact? This is a blantant example of GENOCIDE!

Today is a very sad day. I’m actually teary eyed. It saddens me to know this is the government we support. My prayers go out to Nicole, after her lost all she could have asked for was justice and to see that’s not received, saddens me.

I can only pray for her and her family. I can only pray for the judicial system as well. And if my faith wasn’t as strong, I would doubt at times.

Everything happens for a reason. My people get involved - -don’t just become football/basketball players WE NEED MORE OF US IN THE GOVERNMENT - - teach our children the value of politics & economics.

I was not surprised when i saw the verdict either, I mean the day Justice is served in America is the day hell freezes over! I’m sorry but the United States has the worst judicial system in the world! How do you JUSTIFY shooting a man 50 times?!? it’s ridiculous, sad, disgusting, inexplicable………I have three brothers and I can’t even imagine what I would do in that situation. I am going to pray very hard for the victims families, as well as the families of the police officers because they are the ones who have to go to bed at night and be reminded of what they have done. There are no winners here, everyone has lost. it’s so sad.

THE WHITE MAN GETS DO DO THE PERB WALK . a blackman the order comes down from the top is to EXTERMINATE WITH EXTERME PREJUDICE . wasn’t one of the cops black? i don’t think this is a race thing. black people always trying to make everything about race. this was a “connection thing”. The judge made the ruling, the cops are apart of his circle of power. Plain and simple.

……

You got one part right about it being about the circle of power and higher ups looking out for eachother. It is still about race, nonetheless. Even though main trigger happy cop was Black he still did the racist whites a favor. That’s easy for anyone to understand. One more Black man dead and away from his family and raising his children, which is definitely needed in our Black communities.

You know its a sign of the times when a dog’s life and unpaid taxes are more severe than a black man being shot on what is suppose to be the happiest day of his life.

Not only is a dog’s life more valuable than a human’s life, it has been proven more than once IN 2007!

I know for a fact that a lady left her baby in the car b/c her fat ass was too busy thinking about some damn DONUTS and her baby died. No charges were filed. Oh and she was on camera making more than one trip to take the donuts into the building. THEN she moved the car.

A fucking dead dog was left in a girls backyard by her NEPHEW and she got locked the fuck up for a minute. It wasn’t even her dog AND the NEPHEW admitted to leaving the dead dog there! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, April 25, 2008 /

This is another sad outcome.. It’s not black or white it’s a BLUE thing! It’s an NYPD thing! This isn’t racism it’s the unspoken code amongst law enforcement. At the very least they should have rec’d a reckless endangerment charge! Dude reloaded…

No one wins in this case…..

The other victims messed up also when they didn’t stick to the grand jury version of their story… their police records didn’t give them any credibility and then they embellished their original stories… the law is the law.. whom does it protect? well we know it protects those “who serve us”…. their embellishments helped allow a clear path to a not guilty verdict. The police records would have been a non-issue had they stuck to their original story… People tend to tell the truth as it happened and remembered right after an event…. and even if they embellised a little right after it happened it wouldn’t have mattered.. they embellished a lot… str8 lied on some things…

This is truely an outrage, even if Sean and his friends were in the wrong, the officers did not have to shoot that many times. I really feel for his family. My thoughts and prayers go out to them. One of the officers was a black man, so this really has nothing to do with race. The police and the judge were all on the same team. Besides they don’t care if we kill each other. It’s all about the police being a gang and sticking to their stories so that they can do what ever they want to whom ever they want and not being afraid of being in the wrong. If you kill a dog then you go to jail and if you have a badge and you recklessly kill people then you get a get outta jail free card. I hate police because they have never protected me and my own nor have they ever solved any shootings in my neighborhood or even investigated it.
I really hope that we as a people stand up and support the Bell family when they appeal this ridiculous and unjustly verdict. I also hope that those officers who did the crime stay outta sight for a while because I think they might be on a hit list out there. The people outside the court house looked really pissed off. I just hope that everyone goes about handling this case the right way so that justice will be served.

That type of gun play should be directed towards more of a serious situation bank robbery gone bad etc. Shameless to say I’ve heard about this story more than once but never read deep into to know what exactly happened but still I say the procedures taken by the NYPD was unjustly. This is a spiritual war. It’s no longer exclusively black versus white, it never was exclusively that. The coon negro element has always been utilized to cause confusion and blur the lines of truth and still are utilized for that purpose. The black and hispanic cops are the same entity as the white man and operate with the same mind. They may join the police force with upright intentions; and many just join for a paycheck, but they must prove to the white element of the police force that their loyalties lie with the police force, not their own people. As the United States economy continues to fall and the pay scale for police continues to plummet, as it has in New York, look for more and more publicized cases of black men being gunned down by black and hispanic cops. The white man no longer finds it necessary to dirty his own hands when he has good, loyal coon negroes that can do it for him. All one has to do is look at the new ranks of the police and how they’ve obviously lowered their standards to acceptance into the police department to see that the training cannot be up to par if the hiring is not up to par.

Dam, this just goes to show you just how much “our” justice system and societ y values a black life. But I pose a question do value our own lives? You see this court took in consideration the history and the reputation of these guys. (aside fronm being Black) These guys had criminal records and drug offences. I my eyes and for most of us that should not matter beacuse 50 bullets fired at an unarmed man wether a former felon or not is criminal. But we as need to become more a part of the system politically. We must frown on the ideas that:BEING a felone is cool, being a H.S. dropout is acceptable, having gang affiliation is cool, getting good grades as uncool. not voting! Walking around with your pants hanging off your A$$?? I know there are so many things that the prejudice people in general will define or equate as being black. But,there are so many things that we naturally place in our way to deter our influence in society, all the while our justice system does not respect us. We have to look at ourselves as well an get our houses in order, socio-economically and politically. NOW WHO DO WE HAVE TO RELY ON TO GET JUSTICE FOR THE BELL CASE? THE FEDS!!! Understanding the fact of having to shoot because “I though my life was in danger”. Why not shoot to disable if you thought you were in danger? Get out of the way, until back up arrives; but to take a life rather he had criminal behavior at one point or another is really irrelevant. How can you justify, taking a man’s life that was UNARMED?! Why didn’t the cops shoot the tires on the car to disable it, considering the car was at this point being looked upon as a weapon? The U.S. is not for US it’s for citizens who are socially, and economically at the top of the ranks! This young man’s life was taking because he didn’t fit into either one of those categories, so to the JUDGE he didn’t matter. What we must realize is no matter how much injustice we as a people who don’t fit the U.S. Social and Economical standards endure; the very folks who are judge and jury now, will be the same people in line with us common folk waiting on their verdict in the book of life. My heart goes out to his family and his friends and their family during this difficult time.

Stop depending on God to turn a situation around. God has no matter in this! Each person on earth has free will. You have the will to do good…and the will to do bad. I prefer to do good…but when people don’t play by the rules…you must then take matters into your own hands.

Slaves prayed…but that didnt stop them from being enslaved for over 300 years. Action changes situations. Pray for vision and strength…but rely on your own action to turn things in yoru favor!

Black men are being eliminated from this earth. But no one can eliminate you unless you let them. No one makes us committ crimes…no one forces men to be gay…Gay men are a threat to the black race. Not because they are bad people…most are very good people! They deserve each and every right that all Americans deserve!

The problem with Gay men is that they do not re-produce. Since they arent in relationships with women…no children will be born from them. This simple act highly cuts down on the amount of young black babies being born. The amount of black men in jail highly cuts down on the amount of black babies being born! Wake up people! No one makes you do anything! You do it out of fear or mis-understanding.

No one fears you…that’s why police officers will continue to shoot and kill. Who would ever think to shoot a Jew? You won’t! Because you fear the heavy consequences that you would face!

Do for yourself. Stop telling your children to “get a job” and “go to school” and instead encourage them to own their own business and read multiple books! Stop pushing them in directions that keep them under the power of other people.

Do not acquire any debt! That debt keeps you a slave to your boss. You can never leave work or stand up for yourself at work because you have a mortgage, car loan, credit cards and even a 2nd home equity loan. Pay for everything in cash! If you don’t have the cash…that means you can’t afford it!

The rules of the game of life are laid out before you…but are you paying attention?

this is really horrible. i have no faith in this country’s justice system what-so-ever. guilty men go free if they have the monetary means and innocent people suffer because they have no clout. *smh*

sean bell had a family, children to help raise, people who loved and cared about him. his life was taken and no one is being held responsible. its an outrage.

i believe we as americans need to take responsibility for our actions. we are always searching for the “excuse” that won’t hold us accountable. and then telling other people that their government or their way of life is not just. WTF?? we need to take care of home first. this is just the one of the things on the long list of what is wrong with our country.

Feeling up some women they may pull over , beatings that just get covered, harassing folks just because, power trippin’, gun-happy cops, the co’s in prison raping inmates, cutting side deals with inmates, and then there’s the cops getting off scotch free…..

As a native New Yorker, I will say that I am not surprised at all. Yeah, it really hurts me to the core they these pigs got off, but I also understand that we are indeed living in the land of our OPPRESSOR. Its sad that many of you are still naive into thinking that any form of “justice” was going to be served today. I guess some of you thought that times has changed because of Obama.
The fact is that times hasn’t changed, shit is getting worse. Racism is alive and well in this country. As far as the “Justice System” is concerned, many of you will be SURPRISED by what goes on under the veil. Just ask any of your friends and family members that actually been incarcerated. And no, I ain’t talking about some punk ass 8 month sentences either, lets talk 10 years and up. Are any of you even aware that once you are released and are still on parole that you are required to pay monthly restitution fee to the state? Oh, and if you decide not to pay, guess where your black ass is going back to? Extortion at it’s finest!
I’m sorry to say this, but there were many before Sean Bell and sadly, there will be many after that will suffer the same travesty. That is why we as a people need to put all the negative shit aside and stand together, because nobody else don’t give a shit about us.

@ # 13: In this case, it is irrelevant as to the witnesses’ statements. I read the official article on Yahoo and US Today. The Yahoo article ends verbatim “The truth emerged when the smoke cleared: There was no weapon inside Bell’s blood-splattered car.” So, witnesses don’t matter in this case.

Also, race may be the cause, but that is not the issue here either. The issue is that this gentleman was completely unarmed, and they fired 50 shots into his vehicle. It doesn’t take 50 shots to take down a wild animal. It was excessive any way you slice it. There is undeniable proof that he was unarmed. If if he was armed, 50 shots can not be explained. This is one of those days when you just want to go to sleep and forget what’s going on in the world for a while. I was having a very good day until I read about this.

I refuse to read AOL’s article on this b/c the posters on there always have something racist to say, even when the topic is not about race. AOL needs to monitor their boards better as other sites do.

@ # 25: Thanks for the info J. The trial should be very interesting.

This case is a prime example of the reason why the relationship between police enforcement and the public at large has continued to decline in the last few decades. There are some good honest cops out there, but there are still too many reckless law enforcement officers on some type of “mission”. People find it very difficult to trust law enforcement when things of this nature happen.

I am just praying for the karma train to pull up to the station and dock.

Let’s stop teaching our children to hate white people and police officers. If someone was trying to run you down with a car outside of a sketchy spot at 3am and you were an officer of the law you would consider them armed and dangerous too. I don’t think the pig should have shot the car up like Rambo but he did have the right to defend himself as an officer of the law. The officer should lose his right to continue to serve in the police force and the unfortunate family should become millionaires for the loss of a fine young man. It’s all truly sad….but we can’t blame the entire white society for his death. The po po just killed a WHITE college student with a taser gun in Ohio last Saturday night for simply trying to state his case / defend his friend from being arrested. It happens to white people too.

Unbelievable! I’m not surprised b/c police officers are almost never convicted in situations like this. Probable cause is such a broad standard so when that is thrown in, the prosecution has to be on their A game.

It’s obvious the prosecution didn’t pull it together b/c I’m not understanding how they couldn’t argue and prove that 50 rounds WAS excessive force.

Hopefully they will go back and SUE in civil court and recoup damages for wrongful death, loss of consortium and emotional distress. Maybe even sue under Section or 1981 or 1983, civil rights statutes). No amount of money can bring her husband back but it damn sure will serve justice.

You devils kill me with that O.J. and 9/11 stuff, lmao. That’ s why I laughed when I saw you people jumping out of the World Trade Center (Job 5:22, Psa 52:6,7). The Most High will bring worse calamities than that on you before he destroys this place. Caucasians never forget and that’s what I like about you people. Good for you. It’s just funny that you teach other races to “forgive and forget” and “come together” and “love” when you people have never embodied those traits. For every O.J. trial, there have been 100 Sean Bell trials and there will be 100 more. Your justice system provides justice in name only. The only justice that will be provided is when Christ comes back and puts you pink bastards back into the perpetual state of servitude and torture that you deserve for your crimes against the other races and the earth itself (Isa 14:20,21, Rev 13:9,10).

That is how it is with the government, white and black people and all races for that matter. We we get into a position of power things changes for us. This smells of a back story with the victim and the cops.

Money rules the world, money rules the world, that is it bottom line. Racism does exsist but it is just perpetuated by those who have a bigger agenda at hand, greed!

Look deeper into the situations, and see why people act and do the things they do.

In this world the problems have many layers and not just one.

You’re damn right that blacks died on 9/11, just like black police officers get killed and black soldiers get killed in the “war on terror” and I feel no pity for any of them because they’re following the devil to their own demise. It’s not exclusively a black/white issue anymore. I mentioned that earlier. The coon element is always there and they deserve and will receive the same fate as their master. The Lord says that 2/3 (66.6%) of our people have that mark of the fourth beast on them (love of the doctrines of the caucasian) and will die with him (Zech 13:8,9, Rev 13:18).

This is really painful. The only way to be able to “deal” with this situation is to know- 1. These cops have families and universal karma has an ugly way of showing itself.
2. These cops behind the badge are Human and they have a “conscience” hopefully that will get the best of them and they will eventually reap what they have sown.
3. There is a Higher Power that they have to answer too and that Higher Power doesn’t care for skin color. Authorative positions- He cares For what is right and what is wrong.
This is alll kinds of wrong. The Police aren’t the Only OFFENDERS here- the judge, the commissioner, the mayor, jurors, the police officers peers AND the media because things like this happen all the time and they are not broadcasted to the people unless their is a “twist” or some other appeal to it. Had it been just any other night in any other circumstance in that man’s life- it would not be reported. Shit like this need to STAY in the spotlight- they need to be able to Keep the Public’s confidence In LAW ABIDING police officers. 50 Shots! Discharged from more than 1 officers gun! Are you kidding me?

actually Tabby I agree with you to a certain degree. I think it is bad he is gone, and that force did not have to be used. I pray for his wife and children because drug dealer or not he was loved, and that is something that hurts.

But he is right we all get worked up when a case comes to light in the media and we call it unfair, but this is a everyday thing in some parts of america and yet we say and do nothing. We kill each other like it is second nature. Innocent bystanders get killed in cold blood everyday, and yet we turn the channel and dismiss it.

We need to be held accountable for our part in this and start making some changes. Things are the same right now because we are still blaming others. In anything you can never change untill yourealize that there is something that needs to be changed.

Volunteer at the local schools and talk to these kids, you would be amazed and how misguided they are. It hurts me how bad that they are so lost. There morals and all screwed up. But if you are hurt by this channel that into change.

Truth

Friday, April 25, 2008 /

We come no closer because we only come together when something like this happens, when major tragedies happen like 9/11. When the dust settles back on the block we talk about one another like crabs in a bucket try and pull one another down. We see on sites like this everyday as we talk about the celebs how they look how they act…. we are not a people of unity… other races come tot his country and “live the american dream” they take full advantage of the resources the options. Most times people are trying to beat the system or try hard to make the system work for them… get upset and say nothing is going to change.. how do you expect change if you are part of the problem..

All this complaining going on about this case what have you done for your community? What have you offered to help change? It’s easy for us to complain and say some words but how will you put those words into action?

I’m sorry that young man had to lose his life, I’m sorry two children lost a father, two parents lost a son, a woman lost her husband to be. Of course no one should lose their life like that and I’m sure if there was a rewind button everyone will use it… but guess what? There is no rewind button we have to move forward change isn’t created by your anger it’s created by action. We always want to riot and they laugh at us and call us monkeys to see us destroy our own neighborhoods. We come together in the name of destruction like they give a damn that we are tearing up our community… They laugh everytime they see us on television cooning to music. You expect justice? 89% of the NYC cops don’t even live in the neighboorhoods they patrol and live outside of NY cap that with a scared ass cop in a situation with gun. what do you have? A dead black man!

The common man will receive no justice until you are deemed respectable… Sean Bell may have been judged by the company he kept it could have been 2 shots that killed him it still wouldn’t have mattered.

This here ain’t right at all. The man wasnt armed nor was he or his friends dangerous to the cops. I dont understand how these people can get away with murder and Wisley Sniper can be locked up for tax. I know it’s different issue but lets look at it this way. I hate to play racial card agaisnt this mutherfuckers bt i am so pissed off right now. Ok lets see how many white people have done crimes. There is Paris Hilton,Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan,Mischa Barton, Mel Gibson..the list goes on and all these people who were driving under the influence of alcohol. This shit is a crime because you could kill someone and yourself too but what do they get? A pat on the back and 24 hours of jail time. There is waaay more white people who are celebrities getting away with every shit that they do, but wait until when they get to a black ass. They will lock your ass in jail. My question is why all these white people gettin so little time in jail or send their asses in rehab but when black person do something they send your ass in jail for good time?

Now lets see we have Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, Mystkal(sp?), and the list goes on of black celebrities who done serve their time for some issues that they arent even there to be beggin with. Now lemme start with Snipes. Ok i know some of yall hate him for one reason or the other. But lets see how many white/hispanic celebrities that didnt pay their taxes. Did any of them receive any amount of jail time? I dont think so. But we have to ask our selves why is Snipes receiving jail time of 3 years and fine of $5 million for tax and others dont? I understand that when you do a crime you have to do the time but these Judges and Prosecutors have to play a fair card.

Now its Sean Bell’s case. Why are those cops free when they shot an innocent man wit 50 bullets. 50 MUTHERFUCKING BULLETS Yall and they get no time in jail? That is a fucking crime and there should not be any excuse for them fucking people. They murdered someone who was innocent to begin with. They took someone’s son, someone’s father and neverless someone’s fiance. That man was going to wife up someone. He was someone’s fiance. He was at his party going home. But as soon as those cops came through these people done lost it and shot an innocent man. Now i am not a judge nor a lawyer but i know when a fair deal is played and this one isnt FAIR to begin with. We have murderes cops who are free to go back on the street and we have a man who lost his life and left people with sadness that will never go away.

Our society needs to realize that no metter what colour your, you have to get the time you deserve. I dont understand why these white people get so little time in jail and all these black people get enough amount of time in JAIL. Like i said i am not gon play a race card here but this is some fucking bullshyt you cant tell me those cops are innocent for fucking killing a man with 50 bullets. You dont need to study law to get it right. Our colour will always be the pointing finger at as long as we live. Imma give yall an example of a crime happened in Canada on Boxing day

First i am agaisnt crime and i dislike crimes, i wish this world was safe for all of us. Now in canada, after Xmas day there is a boxing day shyt. A white girl was shot to death. And nobody knew who the shooter was. My heart really went out for their family because i never lost someone in a crime bt i lost so many people and i know how it feels to lose the ones you love. But the real shyt was, we have so many black kids getting killed and these cops always telling the media we have no lead nor witness. Now this girl’s case they had no lead nor a witness but their asses worked it off and focused on this girl’s killer so badly. They really paid attention to this case like it was the only first murder case. Now they found the person who did it and who knows what happened now but my reason of giving you guys this example is that. Why they were so interested on finding this girl’s killer and everytime when a black kid is gunned down nothing happens. All we hear is “POLICE HAVE MADE NO ARREST TO THE SHOOTING”. why cant it be ” WE’RE WORKING VERY SERIOUS ON THIS CASE AND WE PROMISE TO FIND THE SHOOTER”? Did they focus on that case cuz she was a white girl that had been gunned down?. Why do white people have to get the special treatment thru everything? It pains me to see that we always have to be stabbed in the back.

We need a fair deal one way or the other. My sisters and brothers, lets get out of the streets, lets go back to school and finish our education. We need more black lawyers and Judges. I am sick and tired of this law they have for us. THESE COPS NEEDS TO BE IN JAIL. And I am praying that justice will be served in either way or the other in the name of GOD these cops will get what’s coming to them. A killer shouldn’t be walking in the streets PERIOD.

REST IN PEACE SEAN BELL AND JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED one day.

REST IN PEACE JANE.

@59 Why would a God of love give life, then take it away by using evil cops to viciously gun down and ferociously kill this beautful young man BECAUSE IT WAS HIS TIME? What sense does that make? It doesnt, blame the right people- the PIG evil cops.

These PIGS have killed yet another innocent black man for nothing They are wicked, corrupt and lower than dog dung. They probably were jealous that these guys were having a good time. Whatever the case, it will NEVER be right to kill someone just because of the lie they came up with to cover themselves - “we thought he had a weapon”.

@59, I wonder if this vicious crime happened to your husband, brother, cousin, friend, etc.. if you would still feel like, “Oh well, It was his time”.

this is a tragedy, for sure. especially that someone died.

i don’t care what his rap sheet was, what he was doing at the time as long as it was legal.

i didn’t read all the comments, but has ANYONE read what the judge wrote? i think the judge said that the car was surrounded by police and he attempted to back out and hit a police van and almost ran over a police officer.

that is assault with deadly force or something. if someone had attempted to run one of my friends over, i would try to shoot them, too.

plus, 3 cops shot, so if each clip had 15 rounds, that’s 45 shots. you don’t know if the shot once it hits the car is going to keep going straight.

i feel bad for this whole situation but if the guy tried to get away, then this would be the outcome.

It is awful what happened. With society as it is today where every corner has a shooting at least once a week it seems, these officers and others are bound to react to someone reaching for their pocket. I can’t see how it can be “racist” when two of the officers are themselves black. It was certainly a bad area they were in. I surely don’t think it was intentional to just shoot a black man when like I said they were themselves black.

It seems to me that racism is kept alive by the black race. after all they have NAACP, Ms. black america, black FOP, and on and on and on. Yet let a white person try that…..oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo noooooooooooooooo! come on give it up. This is 2008 and everyone has an equal chance to do and be whatever they want to do or be. If as much effort was put forth to become something as it is to preserve racism we’d all be better off.

How you mean by what I said “it was his time to go” regardless this is tragic. It was his time to go. Everyone has a birthday and death day.

Somethings God just don’t let us to know, okay. I’m not trying to step on anybody toes or anything. Surely as we as we are born we will die! You all act like I’m saying he should’ve gotten shot up. It’s life! No man knows when he will die; that’s why the saying “an untimely death” makes no sense to say! because none of us knows when that time is. How can you call it “untimely” when you don’t know when the time is? I lost 3 babies at birth so I know the lost. Should I have screamed “why me Lord” or my babies were too young to die! No, God has his reasons for everything. I lost 3 sons, so, yes it’s tragic and it’s hard but we have a lesson in all this.

Maybe the lesson is for blacks in general, when we going to stop hating on each other so much? when we going to respect ourselves and demand it from others? I have never seen any other race of people get shot up this many times and get off. When we going to rally and unite for real? When we going to stay united and not forget about it in a month or so? The fake Jews are still talking about a holocaust that Americans didn’t have anything to do with. Yet, we feel their pain and can’t feel our own. We should honor this young man by uniting stronger. We should let his death be a symbol for all that is wrong with this society towards people of color.

It’s my opinion and I’m entitled to mines;nothing happens by mistake even if it’s tragic.

My prayers for the Bell family and any other family that is “Terrorize” by the Racist System. You want me to send my sons to die for this country; yet you can’t stop randomly killing him on the street. WTF? No way!

I have been bodybuilding in L.A. for over 30 years, never used steroids because of all the may side effects( genital shrinkage, balding, rage, heart and kidney problems, etc.,). But I know for a fact that many cops use them and they should be testes. ‘Roids make people super aggressive. As much money as cities payout for cop abuse, you’d think they’d be interested, but not.
There was a case in Compton that was just settled. The cops shot at a guy over 100 times, and thankfully he didn’t die. The city just had to pay a humongous settlemment. This shit needs to end.

They were irresponsible and should be punished for their actions. This shouldn’t have happened let alone to an UNARMED man!!! 50 TIMES….really….now come on…50 times…AND one of the officers reloaded! You know I had hope that after the Katrina tragedy black people would REALLY wake up but even that didn’t change anything cause a few weeks later people just forgot and moved on when to this day some people suffer from the consequences of that fiasco. But when you talk about it people don’t seem to care. If all those lives being neglected didn’t wake up black people you think THIS ONE will?? Black people used to take it to the streets, not anymore.

Nobody will care for blacks if blacks don’t care for blacks. People see how we react to this and take notes. They treat us how we treat ourselves. Respect and power have very few to do with being a “majority”. Jews are a minority in America and people are scared of them. When you look at the world, white people are THE MINORITY (about 11% of the worldwide population) and THE WHOLE WORLD is scared of them.

Think about that.

We gotta stop moving on so fast everytime a tragedy like that happens if we want things to change.

The judge had to look at the totatilty of circumstances, the officers were acting in accordance to training and it was what any prudent and reliable officer would have done. Now this is by no means to say that this is right. I believe with all my heart as a law enforcement professional and I can tell you from all the training I have received that the officers were wrong. First…if the subject or suspects did not comply with the orders given by the officers and drove the vehicle in the direction of an officer who feared for his life, that officers training indicates that he immediately seek cover. Why? because the commands given may or may not have been heard, the subject or suspect may or may not have been impaired. You do not fire into a moving vehicle which may have innocent CHILDREN, ELDERS, aboard. BAD Training, LEADS to BAD Decisions when it count. NY State should be held accountable!!!

NYPD blue can be chinese, lation, white, and black and STILL believe a black male is a suspect..I live this in NY.. I KNOW!!

I haven’t posted here in a while but I felt so heartbroken when I heard about this and I knew that I could come to CL and share my thoughts on it instead of going somewhere like MSN or CNN messageboards where there would be people actually justifying these cops actions.

A few years back in my city a fourteen year old black male had taken his moms car. After being found and surrounded by cops in a “nicer neighborhood”, this unarmed boy was eventually shot in the head and killed by an officer who claimed that the boy tried to run him over. That same summer a white teen was brought in peacefully after taking the cops on a high speed chase and shooting at them. I don’t care what anyone else thinks-this society still thinks of us as sub-human.

This story about Bell and all the other stories of injustice that we hear about in the future (and there WILL be more) won’t matter because eventually we will become preoccupied with the lastest music single or who’s starring in the lastest movie. Someone said it earlier-we are quick to forget(does anyone still remember Jena6?) and I’m starting to think that most of us are just to used to this type of treatment to care:( I still care.

My people we need to get unified in these communities and let these people understand that any harm done to the people will be reciprocated. We don’t have time for marches and sit-in’s. The war is already being waged we are just to blind to see it. Our brothers are becoming political prisoners and nobody is taking notice. The war on drugs is actally a war on “thugs” or black men who don’t have the credentials to fit into this society. Pretty soon they are going to turn their guns away from Iraq and start pointing them right back at black people…….It’s already begun black people. I need you to read the entire article or maybe even google the story. Those officers were plain clothed, did not annouce who they were, and aproached 3 men in a high crime neighborhood where a argument had just occured with guns drawn. Under the situation I think he was just in trying to drive off. It does not take 50 bullets to stop a car. If they would have shot out the tires they would have stopped the car.

Those police are animals and I hope they repented for their sins because they will pay for this in later maybe in this life or the after life, but they will reap what the sew.

People need to stop thinking about color, J Dakar put a post up here about the north american union and the zietgiest. We are truly becoming a police state, now the war is between civilians and law (police force). I told you all that police don’t need probable cause for searching you now because we (people) stripped it away by the formation of the privacy acts. This was all done out of fear (9/11) and protection of our borders (what a joke). What a joke? I truly am sad about the situation but I’m not shocked. The law will protect their inner circle (lawyers, police, mayors, city councils, judges, the elite and etc.).

“The war on drugs is actally a war on “thugs” or black men who don’t have the credentials to fit into this society”

Are you for real? A crime is a crime is a crime. Plenty of people live their lives without selling drugs. The war on drug is stoping us from killing ourselves. When these so call Un-credentialed thugs are out in the street selling this mess to our family, recuirting our kids, and tearing our niegborhoods apart the police are there. We cant have it both ways. Being a crimnal has nothing do with Credentials, it’s all about your upbringing and what you will allow in you life. Like I said I feel for the girl and all but what kind of mother would invite that type of man in her life. It’s sad how people knock on the Devil’s door and get mad when he answer. everything happens for a reason. God allows thing to happen and steps in when needed.

I’m shook to the core about the verdict…. It doesn’t make any sense!

The judge should address the public and explain in layman’s terms how he came to his decision. In all fairness, the average person has no real working knowledge of what criminal charges mean, even those who have charges leveid against them! Otherwise the public will come to their own conclusions and civil unrest is VERY likely!!

But even the most reasonable person could see that reckless behavior occured that night… empty your clip, re-load and resume shooting?? ALTHOUGH NO SHOTS at any point were fired back at you???

Police want to get home to their families too, but police should be better equipped/trained to handle semi-automatic weapons in a much more responsible way than the average person…. unbelievable…

they will deal with their own hell, having to relive that moment over and onver again and KNOW that they were wrong, dead wrong….

much prayers continue out to the Bell family, that they find serenity amongst this madness…..

272.

Friday, April 25, 2008 /

I agree with Ja here….but for different reasons.

The verdict was a disgrace and the judge, the city and this country should be ashamed. However, it apparently takes this to get people to wake up and pay attention.

Nothing has changed in this country except for the surface. Underneath the shiny surface, it is still as depraved, morally corrupt and full of racism, classicm, and facism as it always has been.

@ the idiots above who claimed that Sean Bell had drug convictions–unless he was dealing drugs at that moment and when the officers attempted to arrest him he pulled a weapon and THEN they shot him-his past convictions are irrelevant.

I don’t know if I am more angry at the injustice or more angry at the utter ignorance and stupidity of people today who can’t think analytically. This sh9t is not going to change until people begin thinking again.

And CLEARLY Los Angeles has once and for all proven who is the most “Gangsta” in the East Coast West Coast beef–because LA was already up in flames by this time after the Rodney King verdict…NY is waiting on another March from Sharpton or the next 50 Cent concert.

Ja (#270), can I ask you a few questions? I feel where you’re coming from about his drug dealing past but what does that have to do with his car being shot at 50 times? What does not having a marriage license have to do with this case?

A man was killed, while 2 others were injured. Parents lost a child and children lost a father. A life was taken away because of reckless behavior and you’re bringing up the fact that he and his fiance didn’t have a marriage license?

He was not killed during a drug deal. It’s really irrelevant in regards to the cops being acquitted on ALL charges when they shot at these men FIFTY TIMES.

Not Guilty….as it should be. Except if you’re the black majority, they think differently. Their idea of justice is guilty only, in any shooting against a black person. They wouldn’t know what justice is if it slapped them in the face. To the Detectives involved, and all MOS. This is the reason you should seriously think about bailing out at 20 years working for the NYPD. Do your job and go home.

Well, I guess the judge was “just doing his/her part”, just like the guy on TV yesterday said towards his reasoning for donating to planned parenthood in Ohio because there were too many black there. Some ignorant people of “Other” races keep knocking the race card saying how could it be racial if some of the cops doing the shooting were black. Black people tend to stereotype against our own (house negros) but the judge just iced the cake when she gave dem boys a free pass for cleansing the world of Sean Bells. I know no amount of money can bring the cohesion back to Nicoles family, but Lord please give this woman some Justice and Closure to this soon. Letting the dirty cops walk poured salt on her wound. I don’t care if Sean Bell was a woman beating, drug trafficking, gun peddler! They didn’t know that when they pulled up on him! He wasn’t in the middle of a drug transaction or anything. Even if he had a record- people don’t change- he could of been one of the ones that got fed up with the street life trying to go straight now. Either way yes Nicole is hurting but the real victims are her kids.
This is so terrible! From since this happened *Allll those Rappers who are use to this kind of issue should of been helping Nicole with the cake to get a REAL lawyer to fight this case! The witnesses stories were “embellished” or whatever?? Please the WITNESSES Witnessed a black man get riddle with bullets! He wasn’t standing in the middle of the street with a hostage or with a bomb on his chest! He was in a FUCKIN vehicle! His associates were there to see their friend lose his life! Those witnesses and associates have replayed this shit over and over in their heads! Have had nightmares! His associates have had to face his fiance, answer her questions and even more painful see kids that lost their father! These associates almost lost THEIR own lives! AND HERE’s WHAT WE AS society don’t know and can’t relate to: these uncredible witnesses and associates probably testified knowing in their hearts and minds these Devils would get off.
Now my question my fellow CLers- Would YOU be able to give a well spoken-detailed account of the events when you been reliving it and looking at these cocky cops (infruriated and unable to get at ‘em bklyn style) knowing in your heart of all hearts that the system would actually consider letting them off with a slap of the wrist! And then BAM! Worse- they get off FREE!
I don’t know how that judge didn’t choke on his own saliva when he tried to justify his reasoning!
-I am in Boston,MA and I am just bout ready to come out there and set shit of for ya’ll New Yorkers on some Huey P Newton- Black Panther shit! I am serious!
Ya’ll are fuckin slackin! It aint right-we need to stand up for our shit!
So now what- I catch a bullet if I raise my middle finger to a cop because he thought I had a .22- you serious!
Fuck all the other post after this- we need to start bloggin about what we gonna do!

ok even if the testimony by the prosecutor’s witnesses was questionable and “the story changed day after day” the point IS that doesn’t warrant 50 bullets being shot at a man?!?!?! Is that really necessary?!?! Would that have EVER happened to someone white?….HIGHLY unlikely. Even if they thought the man was armed, isn’t it protocol to just shoot the person in the arm or leg to get them down…that’s like 2/3 shots. Why FIFTY?!?!

race might have motivated the initial stop, but it definitely was the brutality that is what is so horrendous about this case.

those condemning bell for an alleged “thug life” because he was where he was at (a gotdamn BACHELOR party for a 23 y/o YOUNG MAN) need to get off your pompous pedestals and realize the bigger implications of this: it’s becoming increasingly easier for cops to take deadly action first and ask questions later.

and i’ve been following this story from the beginning. he rammed the police car because he got in an altercation inside the venue with some other people who threatened him. was the squad car marked? not according to MSN.com. should the officer have waited until they exited the car before taking such an irreversible action?

i respect what “good” cops do and the pressure they face (some are scared shitless on the beat), but these kinds of “accidents” are becoming all to familiar; and until someone is made an example or held responsible on a national front, i anticipate other events across the nation, regardless or race.

RIP to Sean Bell and Due Process…Hello to the Police State.

After the Civil Suit- I (as Nicole) would ask each cop for THEIR favorite charity and donate the proceeds to each charity of their choice. And sit and wait for Karma! I know it sounds weird- but I have to pray for these cops- THESE MOFOs are going to catch hell! And I hope that they don’t have kids because there are things we do and we “the adults” don’t suffer the consequences- our children do. The worse Karma when your kids have to pay for something you have done.
It’s messed up to a point -I honestly believe at least one cop feels his ass should be under the jail along with the other criminals. That was a criminal act committed by criminals hiding behind badges.

Those cops better pray that God finds forgiveness in his heart for them. They better hope that their own bodies don’t end up in a NY river somewhere…

My heart goes out to the fiancee and the family..
it’s hard enough to find good black love as it is. God bless you and don’t give up the fight, whatever you do! You are in our prayers!

I checked out that site. It’s despicable. Many of the comments on there by those in law enforcement were just sick. I live in NYC and I see so many arrogant officers who abuse their authority. I’m interested to know what your thoughts are on how we as a community can come together. I protested with Charles Barron, other community leaders, organizations, etc. showed solidarity with the Bell family at vigils and I’m so sick and tired of what’s going on. I’m just really sick and tired of all these injustices. I’m interested in seeing us move to a place of dialogue on what we can do.

First of all as many are, I am so outraged and saddened by this absurd verdict!

Second of all —–For people who think that just because 1 or two of the officers were Black themselves that this does not mean that racism has anything do with this case, they really need to think again. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing happening to a white man? I don’t think so. Also throughout history, black people have been conditioned against one another. Many Black people harbor the same prejudices and hatred towards their own people as their White counterparts. So People Please Please Wake Up! If you have not heard of the colonized mind or the about the psychological impact of centuries of racism, slavery and colonization on Black people, please read Franz Fanon! As many have said we Black people need to band and stick together!

Black men are particularly targeted by the police and everyone who is Black KNOWS THIS!!! I go to school in Wellesley, MA, which is a rich suburb outside of Boston. While with my man, we have been stopped more than a couple of times. The police officers have often demanded to know what we ( as Black people) were doing in the town. One time I even had to show my college id to the officer to prove that I went to Wellesley! Now tell me why was this even necessary? So yes people wake up racism is alive and well. Black people are the most devalued people on the face of the earth.

My prayers go out to Sean Bell, his fiancee and his beautiful family. May God continue to help you find strength during these difficult times. We are all praying for you. Be Strong!

All I am saying, let that be an Hasidic Jew or some other ethnic group or race. Every road in NYC would have been blocked and riots would have consumed the city. But unfortunately, Black people have this tendency of “as long as it’s not me or my loved ones” why should I give a damn?

Black men in all the urban areas in and around the USA need to wake up a realize that it’s open season. We need to mobilze and let our voices be heard, do what ever it takes, by any means necessary. If that means rioting and burning a couple buildings then so fucking be it. There is nothing wrong with that. Riots are good because, riots are the voices of the unheard! But until we stand up and fight for what’s right - our basic human rights that should be equally gauranteed to all, without regards race. Until that day, Black men, our dreams of equal rights will be nothing but a fleeting illusion, to be persued but never attained.

It’s sad, but dang if I didn’t already know what the verdict was going to be. I always know whenever stuff like this happens that the outcome will always be the same. Remember, they caught officers on tape beating the sh*t out of Rodney King and they still got out of it. What more proof did they need when that happened.

I WAS FOLLOWING THIS AS SOON AS I WAS UP IN THE MORNING WAITING FOR THE VERDICT AND WHEN I READ IT AT WORK I DIDN’T EVEN ALLOW IT TO PROCESS…BUT NOW I’M READING ABOUT THIS IN DETAIL AND SEE THE REACTION HERE, MY HEART IS FEELING REAL HEAVY…

I’M LISTENING TO ERYKAH BADU’S “A.D. 2000″ AND IT MAKES ME THINK LET’S NOT GIVE SEAN BELL A BROKEN BUILDING, LET’S BE VIGILANT IN OUR OWN HEARTS SO THIS WILL NOT GO DOWN QUIETLY. IF THAT MEANS TO START A SEAN BELL FUND, OR START A WATCH DOG PROGRAM IN YOUR COMMUNITY TO MONITOR CROOKED COP PROCEDURES OR START A MENTORSHIP FOR YOUTH, OR ORGANIZE A MARCH, OR WRITE YOUR LOCAL POLITICIAN, ETC. BASICALLY LET’S NOT JUST ALLOW THE MEMORY OF SEAN BELL BE REDUCED TO JUST A MURAL ON A 3RD RATE WALL. LET’S NOT LET SATAN POISON OUR HEARTS WITH WRATH, WE CAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS IN OUR ON WAYS.

GOD BE WITH THE BELL FAMILY AND THE MASSES EFFECTED BY THIS.

For the young brothas in that(16-26)age group, the power that runs this country ,fears you more than China,Russia,North Korea, and the Middle-East,combined.This age group is the true power of our race.Picture if you will an army of 1million modern day versions of Crispus Attucks, ready, willing, and able to respond to HUMAN INJUSTICE with violence,it could change the world!Brotha Attucks was also an unarmed BLACKMAN who was partying, when he sparked a revolution. The British Army viewed our oppressor as the dirt under their shoe, and a run-a-way slave freed a SUPERPOWER.I have read the comments of those who say that this young brotha was a drug dealer, that the neighborhood and strip-club warranted a strong police presence, and that he got what was coming to him.I had to sit back, and think on that a taste, and apart of me says, why DID the brotha pick an area so hot to party, and I always think in my mind BECAUSE HE EFFING WANTED TO.The last time I checked this is still America,a place were anybody coming out of a bar/club can walk to their car and not get cut to pieces in a hail of police bullets.WHITE AMERICA is scared sh–less of young brothas in a group,I don’t care if it is a group of THUGS or MBA’s it’s the same thing in the mindset of white people, and it is reflective their judicial system, and what happened to him can happen to any man of color or class.A BLACKMAN’S HUMANBEINGNESS(it may not be the correct word )gets taken away 85% of the time we get pulled over by the police. The white, black, brown, red, yellow,BOYS IN BLUE come out of their cars, with guns at the ready. This is known by all in the Black Community,DID THESE BROTHAS HAVE SOMETHING ON THE COPS?There is more to this story than is being told,it does not make sense, for three unarmed men to engage in conflict, with armed men representing the law…Young brothas in New York city it is my hope that you will keep your cool in the coming days and weeks, and don’t give them a reason to take more of you away from the ones you love, however,I hope that some of you young brothas are so mad, that you go to LAW SCHOOL to use/rewrite laws to ensure that NO MAN will endure 100% of his HUMANBEINGNESS taken away from him the way it was for SEAN BELL.GOD IS WITH YOU NOW!R.I.P BROTHA!

@Skittles25

You should have watched larry king. The boy did not have a job. He was selling drugs “present tense” note dates of arrests. And he gave up baseball to take care of his baby’s mamma and child like all lost souls he thought that selling drugs was the way to do this. You should be mad you should be upset. You should be so mad that you start a neigborhood watch in your area to get rid of the crime and keep the police at bay. Police follow the crime. On the same note if you par take in that lifestyle you should be prepared for what happens. They thought he had a gun, he ramed a police van, thats enough for me. Lastly anyone who partake in this life aint cool with me. I say put Frank Lucus and Big Meech ass in jail and let them stay there . I dont believe 7-8 police never identified themselves. that sound suspect. Police are proud to be police. Even more so when they feel someone is below them. The judge in the case has handle cases like this and when the police asked for a bench trial the family nor the DA disagreed. This was a fair and just trial based on who was more creidable. and you are right there is more to this story then what either party has said. Where are the strippers that he had the fight with? There where more then the police and the 3 “thugs” in the club that night where they at. All those people could have testified but they didn’t. Why? The case is not a civil right case because I’m sure everybody in that club was black. the police was there for the crime not black people although its sad that the two terms are so closely related.
AND PLEASE STOP TRYING TO GET THESE YOUNG PEOPLE TO RIOT. THAT THE WAY TO GET SHOT

@ JA. Your statement is so ignorant it actually frightens me. It’s actually hard to believe that it is possible for someone to be that simple minded. You have:

- No understanding of the facts
- No understanding of police procedure
- No understanding of this case at all.

There’s no point in even schooling someone as ignorant as you. When an unarmed innocent man is shoot 50 times while not committing a crime and the police get to walk away free as a bird by just saying “sorry, it was an accident”, justice has not been served. I hope your not a black man, because if you can’t understand that what happened to Sean Bell can happen to you your crazy.

Now this is some real bullshit…. but Im not suprised. The entire system is corrupt, but this right here is crazy. how the hell can you shoot that many times and get off the hook. These cops officially have a license to kill. no ifs, ands, or buts about it. A word to all my black brothers don’t even look their way. Its a shame that we have came this far in time and shit still has not changed. At times it feels like the black society is doomed from the moment we walk out on the streets. There is no justice served when a young man is shot down and killed on his wedding day, leaving behind two beautiful daughters and a wife. Where the hell is the justice???

I said it yesterday - will say it again today. I don’t care if he was a career criminal. I don’t even care if he was actually committing a crime. I am not a law enforcement dickhead but I know that the proper protocol; the human protocol is to shoot to injure or disarm. I don’t care the race of anyone in this situation. The cops and Sean Bell. This is plain wrong. Yes it is true I feel bad for Nicole and his kids but they are not the only victims here. If SOCIETY opens their eyes- we should all be scared. This isn’t a group of people that killed Mr Bell. It is people that took a position to Protect and Serve. This aint a mechanic, the local pimp and a high school dropout. These are people of authority. There is no way to justify 50 shots. I am sure after the first 10 rounds everything was at a standstill except perhaps the innocent bystanders running for cover…which leads me to this question- Had a passerby (white maybe) got hit with a stray?

I’m not going to call you anything, lol. You called yourself that so you must already know who and what you are. Don’t tell me that I don’t have a sense of the scriptures when all you people in the church do is quote the same two scriptures, out of context, (John 3:16) and the one you just quoted. I’m not going to get into another biblical debate because this is not the thread for that and you honestly don’t understand what you claim to profess. You’re obviously more concerned about caucasians than you are Sean Bell as you spent two weak sentences on that and a paragraph on myself. What I will say is that if you’re going to claim God and the scriptures, claim the entire Bible: from Gen 1:1-Rev 22:21. Don’t pull every scripture that has the word “love” in it and level it at me when there are a million and one scriptures that talk about the “terror” of the Lord, the “hate” and “jealousy” of the Lord, how the Lord is a man of “war”, and how he commanded the destruction of entire races. The Lord’s “love” is not the vain “love” that man alleges to have and that is the source of the tricknology and false teachings of the church. The “love of God” is to keep the commandments, not give every one a damn hug and lower your head to the chopping block over and over again (John 14:15, I John 5:3, etc.). The Lord’s Word tells you that when Christ comes back, not only will he put the other races into hardcore slavery for their crimes against the Lord’s people, the Israelites, but that He and the angels will kill so many people that the blood will come up to the bridles of their horses. Either you believe or you don’t but don’t allege that I have no “sense” when you have no knowledge.

Unless you can tell me who “white people” are known as in the Bible, who “black people” are known as in the Bible, “Chinese”, “Japanese”, etc. we cannot have a conversation because we’d be speaking two different languages. There are no terms like “African”, “Japanese”, or “Chinese” in the Bible so either you’re simple enough to believe that those people didn’t exist back then or you have the understanding that they were known by their biblical names at the time. The Bible is a historical book, not an emotional one, and to serve God you must love the truth in context with the history, not you’re opinion. I honestly don’t believe that you or 99% of people that claim to believe in the God of the Bible or the Bible itself actually believe in it at all because you get so quickly offended by what it says (Matt 11:6, Matt 24:10). My beliefs are based on knowledge, not emotion. This is why the church is the first thing that is built, other than a liquor store, in the black community because it is used to destroy the minds of the people, you being one of them. So you mean to tell me that God controls all and loves all, but he allows the rampant confusion, self-hatred, and virtual genocide of one race of people at the hands of all others and especially one, the so-called white man? That makes no sense because your church doctrine makes no sense. Our people have perverted the message of the scriptures because their minds are perverted. You love lies and in doing so you have taken away all hope from the young black male. He is now left to hate himself because he has no power against this system or his oppressors. This is why the coon negro MUST have the same fate as the oppressors. They are accessories to the destruction of the Lord’s Chosen and must be destroyed. You think “that’s so sad” is enough for a person that had their son, husband, or father shot at 50 times?

outraged by this tragedy

Sunday, April 27, 2008 /

@ Judah First off I am concerned about what had happen to Sean Bell. Hence my username (SMH@your ignorance) The only reason I didn’t write alot about the situation is because mostly everything that I wanted to say was already said……………. The only reason I commented on you because for the 3 months that i have been coming on this website, everytime you comment you are either, 1) saying something very racist, or, 2) Are constantly belittling someone. LOLOLOLOL You said your not getting into a bibical debate and yet that’s exactly what you did. I find it also interesting that you didn’t find a scripture that support your right to hate and talk viciously against a whole race of people. Also if you knew your history and geography you wouldn’t need for the bible to say wheter they’re Japanese (etc) Acts 8:27 talks about an Ethopian enunch. (Do you know what a enunch is BTW? ) anyways ethopia is in Africa menaing he was what African(BLACK). Job 1:3 says that Job is the greatest of all the Orientals. That could be Chinese, Japanes,Korean, (etc). The bible even says to have love and pray for your enemies.(Matt 5:44) But I guess that doesn’t apply to you right? You don’t go by truth you go by your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) That’s why……………….You know what….. there’s really no need to continue this conversation. You are just one of those people who just won’t get it, until it hits right in the face and you won’t be able …….so you have a good night :)

……………..by the way, I don’t get that you say that 99% of us don’t know what we’re talking about right? So why do you come on this website? I mean really why? You act like you are more intelligent and more spiritually stronger than everyone on here (because you are part of the 1% that knows what you are talking about.) so this is just weird that you would waste your percious time on this website debating with people who will ultimately be destoryed. I really don’t get it…………now i’m done……for real LOLOLOL Good Night :)

good decision by judge

Sunday, April 27, 2008 /

the judge made a good decision. it wasnt intentional and they were just trying to do there job. it had nothing to do with race. its just that they were uncooperative and each party believed their life was endanger. also bell didn’t get shot 30 times or 50 thats just how many shots were fired. it happens real quick. it doesnt matter how many was fired its as many shots as it takes to stop the threat. there are criminals and killers that do this intentionally everyday, some cops made a mistake and your ready to put them in the same category’s as murderers. i wish people would grow up and look at things outside the box and not be so ignorant.

This was a murder, plain and simple. There was no treat to these low life cops, none THEY DID NOT HAVE A GUN. They were not uncooperative because they never identified themselves as cops. These drunk cops were negligent and went on a shooting spree. They were shooting to kill that’s the reason why so many shots were fired, luckily 2 survived. I don’t give a damn, how fast it takes to empty a magazine. The fact that that klan cop had time to reload clearly proves that there was NO THREAT!!!! NONE. THIS WAS A MURDER, SO STOP TRYING TO JUSTIFY IT!

My heart goes out to Sean Bell’s family this is a very bad situation and has affected a whole lot of people not to mention what the family is going thru, justice has to prevail. To Sean Bell’s wife, girl you got to be strong for your babies I can’t even imagine how you feel, but your children are going to need good energy from you to move on. Don’t know you at all, but just want to say I LOVE YOU.

Trigger happy coppers go wild on un armed victim! Again, and again!!! You see we have our share of “wyatt earp” ravenous dogs who serve a fucking police state!!!! Yeah Canada has this horror put on innocent citizens by homicidal (state sponsored executioners in my opinion!) coppers too. In quebec two innocent contract construction workers asleep in their motel room were shot to bloody shreds in their beds by the Quebec Surrette(kind of state troopers), armed with automatic weapons. The workers of course like the poor gentleman shot by those coppers in N.Y.C.. were unarmed no weapons of any kind were discovered. Just like in the case of the victim in N.Y.C. the pigs opened up without warning, this tells me just like in Quebec, these coppers were cocked(safties off selector switch on full auto, weapon at the ready), to start shooting …….DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN?!!!!??? THAT DENOTES THAT THEY WERE READY TO FIRE!!!! TO ME …(in my opinion…) THIS SMACKS OF AMBUSH, TACTICS FIRE FIRST( says predisposed to “see a weapon” PUT EVERYONE DOWN,CONTROL THE FIELD OF FIRE…. typical paramilitary training with a twist of overkill!! There was an incident at Ipperwash where an unarmed protester was shot to death by O.P.P . paramilitary swat type unit.again overkill with a PREDISPOSITION TO”SEE” A WEAPON SO FIRE FIRST!!!! WHAT A TERRIBLE LOSS FOR THIS YOUNG BRIDE TO BE. MY MOST HEARTFELT SYMPATHY FOR YOUR LOSS AND THIS YOUNG MANS FAMILY LOSING A SON TO THIS OBVIOUS OUTRAGE. I TRULY HOPE THAT THROUGH THE CIVIL SUIT THE TRUTH IS SHOWN AND THE MISCREANTS ARE HELD UP TO THE LIGHT OF VERACITY WHICH WILL ILLUMINATE THE SHORTCOMINGS IN SUCH A LOOSE SHOOTING POLICY OF THE COPPERS.

The NY Post just reported that after the verdict Nicole and her father recieved a phone call at their home during which the caller laughed at them and hung up–the call was traced to the Sergeants Benevolent Association, a NY police union. They had just returned from the verdict and visiting Sean Bell’s grave site when they recieved the call.

Throughout this country’s history people of color (and other non-wealthywhitemales) have been publicly and privately abused, and that abuse is very often sanctioned or covered up by the government. Now, tragically, this innocent young man’s life was taken by a barrage of NYPD bullets. The men who shot at him 50 times have been released without punishment by the courts of America.

For a long time, I have been keenly aware of the racism that exists in our public and private institutions, especially the criminal justice system. Particularly due to my involvement in the recent incident, I have paid special attention to how the media reports on this story.

I found it curious that on CNN Crime, at the very bottom is a list of “usual suspects.” The linked photos include a child rapist and murderer, as well as the former police officer suspected of murdering at least two of his former wives. Among the four photos was also a photo of Sean Bell. Why is this young man’s photo displayed among a group of suspected criminals? Sean Bell’s photo has been listed under “Usual Suspects” on CNN Crime for several months now…

The media has blatantly blanketed this case in racist/elitist propaganda, describing the crime scene as a “seedy stripclub.” The worst is the intentional degradation of this young man’s character and the character of the other victims. The way he chose to have a private celebration with his friends, during which he at no time became violent, should be irrelevant! But, that has obviously impacted many peoples feelings about this man.

The media owes this man’s family an apology. But, unfortunately, I know full well that in today’s world, an apology is not an acknowledgment of guilt and decision to do better, but a corporate compromise to silence opposition. Apologies won’t change these people’s minds.

Furthermore, I fully realize the legal burden of proof required in this case, and also acknowledge the fact that the Bell family will probably (hopefully) get a large civil settlement and receive at least some type o retribution and acknowledgment of guilt. However:

The fraction of the amount of money spent to silence the dissent against racism pales in comparison to the exorbitant revenue gained by oppressing minorities!!!”

The words used in American public and private discourse to describe persons of “minority” cultures have a deep meaning about how America truly feels about diversity and acceptance.

All these issues that my opponents say are used as “race bait” are, in fact, roots/branches of the same rotten tree.

Sean Bell’s murder and the acquittal of those men who brutally and ruthlessly shot an unarmed man are evidence of how America truly feels about us. The situation is dire and the time is now.

God bless the soul of Sean Bell. May his death be a call to action to us all.

It’s going to take 50 bullets to stop me from telling the TRUTH about racism and elitism in America. We are at war, but our ammunition is education and organization!

People are saying that this is not a race issue because there was a black cop (uncle tom) involved and that makes me extremely mad. Had it been a white man that got killed and some white people that got injured, you know those cops would have never been acquitted. Black celebrities are going to prison for small shit and when it comes to killing a black man, no one cares. Honestly, I hate bringing up race but this is some straight up racist shit. They do shit like that in Orlando, so FUCK the police. Lazy ass motherfuckers make everything worse.

Why does it matter if he was shot 50 times instead of once?

Why does it matter if he was a drug peddler instead of a saint?

Why does it matter if he was a family man about to get married, instead of a bachelor?

As Judah said, Black people are too simple.

Whether is was by an array of bullets, by drug overdose, by gang warfare, by sexual deviances and HIV, or by the simple fact, HE was born to an unwed, single black mother…the black man has always faced extermination ( too ignorant to realize it…and too ill-equipped to do anything about it).

And for those who can see further than their noses understand, if the black male species is endangered, the same will become of the black woman.

Ignorance is SIN…and now I understand why.

i live in brooklyn, ny and the streets are definitly in an uproar right now. I was outside on friday following the verdict and everyone’s blood was boiling. sad 2 say im not surprised, amadou was shot 41 times and he wasn’t leaving a strip club he was entering his own apartment and those officers got off as well!!!!!!!!!!!! black ppl we really need 2 get our shit together or else there will never be change. i’m only 18 but im pretty sure if this was back in the 60’s or 70’s all hell would be breaking loose! I’m not promoting a riot or anything but we cant just sit back quietly while they kill us. They already know what it is so they are not worried, we’ll all be angry for a while but in a few weeks all will be forgotten until another black man is murdered then we’ll pretend to care again.

i’ve been in brooklyn all my life and if a police officer is shot the whole city is put on a stand still. police and helicopters everywhere on the hunt searching especially knowing that the suspect is usually a black male. best believe when he is caught his as is getting life in prison and thats only because ny doesnt have the death penalty.

i know it probably sounds stupid but i kinda wish they were armed so at least they could have shot back at the officers. in my opinion they would have been better off shooting back at the officers and serving time because sean bell died for nothing.

this is really heartbreaking because as a child police officers and fire fighters are supposed to be your heroes but its not like that anymore. My friends and I try to avoid them at all costs.

AMERICA DOESN’T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!!!
and by the time we wake up and realize this it will be too late……im really on some marcus garvey back 2 africa ish rite now……..i now see y so many of my loved ones left the U.S. and are living happily in other countries.

This makes me so sick. I sat an cried about it. When young life is taken for no reason except for the color of his skin and the “stero types” and a trigger happy cop it hurts me. It also hurts to know that those cops are verdict “not guilty”. I just hope the cops and the judge enjoys their slow burn in hell for this. I hope those cops that shot him 50 times can’t sleep and can’t live with what they have done. I hope it eats away them until they shells of their former racist selves. If they can live with all that then they really deserve a special wing in hell just for them!!

With this verdict I am once again reminded that because I am BLACK I essentially have no rights. This man was celebrating his upcoming nuptials and was shot down in hail of bullets because he didn’t have the right complexion, which is what it all boils down to, for protection. Had he been a white man in Manhattan, New York he would have probably been escorted to his condo in the heart of the city and given a slap on the wrist. The NYPD is basically practicing genocide against our young black men, now more then ever we need to rally together and protest this injustice against not just civil rights but human rights.

i think that the jugde coul dbe removed from the office. He sets bad bad for black people. when he found the three cops not giult the judge gives cops all rights to kill blacks. So cops know that they will get away with all black murders. If it was a white child they will never do what have ever done, but they will pay in time.

GOD DOES NOT LIKE UGLIEST!!!!!!
AND I WONDER HOW THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT AFTER DOING ALL OF THESE EVIL THINGS AND GET AWAY WITH IT, THIS IS NOT THE FIRST.
