♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 |

Leona Lewis - Misses Glass (full) - listen
Here’s a new Leona Lewis track from the reworked version of her debut album, Spirit, which is being prepared for US release. The original version of Leona’s album is very ballad heavy, so they’ve added a couple of tracks to the set for its American release. I really have grown a liking for Leona, even though the album did get a little boring after a little while - I’m glad she’s adding some more tracks.

Michelle Williams - Unexpected (snippet) - listen
After Michelle’s single leaked yesterday, and the new promo photos - here’s another snippet leaked from Michelle’s third solo album. The snippet is the title track from her album, Unexpected. I actually really have been digging everything I’ve heard from Michelle. In the past, I would have never expected people to be going up for Michelle’s material moreso than Kelly’s, but it seems as though Ms. Williams is really getting love in the streets this time around. I’m excited for the new album, which is due out soon.

NEW TWEET PROMO PHOTOS

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 |

new tweet promos new tweet promo (3) new tweet promo (2)

Our girl Tweet just released some new promotional photos via her myspace page and they came out dope. The southern hummingbird’s new album, “Love Tweet” is slated for a Summer ‘08 release..

So with Love, Tweet , this acclaimed vocalist takes us back to Southern Hummingbird where her first hit was a risqué song about self-love. This love-based album, however, addresses a new plethora of love from an artist who has had her “eyes opened.” “Whether you fall in or out of love, the question of do I want to fall in love again,” Tweet addresses on her favorite song on the album, “Love Again.” It’s phenomenal,” she says, comparing it to Diana Ross’ “Do You Know…” but more sultry.

And then on the Novel-produced “Anymore,” she addresses the feelings after a break-up when you change and come to realize, “I don’t love you anymore.” [URBAN HOOPLA via BRE MAGAZINE]

J. DAKAR ON: THE GOOD LIFE

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 |

For some time, I was concerned about the car I drove & other nonsense I now find to be of little importance. At one point, I wore two carat diamond studs in my ears, but have downgraded to a less ostentatious quarter carat. In the end, it’s not going to matter how big my diamonds were or whether I drove a Ford or a Ferrari. That’s not what will determine my worth.

The status of a person is not how much money they have or what they do for a living — the real importance of a person is how they treat everybody, particularly the people who are deemed lower than them in society. I’ve figured out what it’s all about. For me, the only thing that’s going to matter is that I lived my life to the fullest and did everything I possibly could to help those around me in need.
