♫ Album Review: Estelle – Shine ♫

London-born soul singer/rapper Estelle Swaray has finally returned on the scene with a brand new album entitled, Shine (in stores now).

LISTEN UP:

Signed by John Legend to his Homeschool label (the album is a joint venture between Homeschool and Atlantic Records), the singer already created her own fan base when she released the album The 18th Day back in 2003. With the singles “1980,” “Free” and “Go Gone” she definitely had a buzz going on before her trip to the states. Admittedly, when her first single dropped I wasn’t really a fan of Estelle’s music right away. But the more I saw the video and heard the track, she grew on me. MUSIC: LYFE’S NEW ALBUM LYFE CHANGE IS IN STORES NOW

The evolution of Lyfe Jennings was bound to happen. With his authentic soulful voice and creative style, Lyfe was definitely ready for a Lyfe Change

LISTEN UP:

The new album (in stores now) features T.I., Snoop Dogg and Wyclef Jean (who wrote “Wild, Wild, Wild”). Producers include The Underdogs, Rich “Killa” Keller and Jean. Lyfe said he decided to work with more people on this album to add a diverse, eclectic spin to Lyfe Change.

“The album is called Lyfe Change because I’m changing it up a bit,” explains Lyfe. “In the past I didn’t work with different producers, I produced and wrote most of my albums by myself. But on this project I actually worked with different producers and a few writers.”

“I’m just trying to do something classic,” he says, “something that can be remade in 20 years.” And so the evolution of Lyfe begins.

Make sure you check out Lyfe’s official myspace to hear the new album in full. If you dig it, pick up a copy and support. Also, make sure to peep the quick interview CL had with Lyfe late last week… Continue

NEWS: JEREMIAH WRIGHT SPEAKS

On Sunday, Sen. Barack Obama’s former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, told an audience of 10,000 at the 53rd annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner that despite what critics say, he is descriptive, not divisive, when he speaks about racial injustices.

“I describe the conditions in this country,” Wright said during the event held by the Detroit chapter of the NAACP.

Last month, during a media firestorm, Obama condemned Wright’s remarks, and on Sunday, Wright was introduced as the “hottest brother in America right now.”

“I’m not here for political reasons,” Wright said. “I’m not a politician. I know that fact will surprise many of you because many in the corporate-owned media made it seem like I am running for the Oval Office. I am not running for the Oval Office. I’ve been running for Jesus a long, long time, and I’m not tired yet.”
