This past weekend, Teyana Taylor was in town as a special guest performer for Atlanta’s BMI Unsigned Artist Showcase (photos here). We got up with her over the weekend to just get out and let people know about the album, From A Planet Called Harlem, which is due out May 20th. Teyana really let people have it the club – she hit the stage and danced to her first single, “Google Me,” produced by Jazze Pha.

She wasnt performing at the Unsigned Showcase to get signed, she was performing because thats what performers do. Wayne was there too and he performed also…..The unsigned artists who did perform aren’t getting any media coverage because people probably wouldn’t know who they were. For example. Hollyweerd was there…would you know that group? Not yet anyway.

Can people drop albums before we consider them famous. What is this about. Like Lil Momma released twenty songs and her first album will be released this summer, WTH? There is no reason to buy the album at this point. Okay I wasn’t going to buy it anyway. Did Teyanna even graduate from high school yet? I guess college is out.

I’ll admit, I thought she was a spin-off of Lil Mama, until I saw her Friday night on Showtime at the Apollo. She wasn’t that bad. She can rap and SING. And she has a very nice singing voice. “Google me” grew on me a little bit.
