This past weekend, Teyana Taylor was in town as a special guest performer for Atlanta’s BMI Unsigned Artist Showcase (photos here). We got up with her over the weekend to just get out and let people know about the album, From A Planet Called Harlem, which is due out May 20th. Teyana really let people have it the club – she hit the stage and danced to her first single, “Google Me,” produced by Jazze Pha.

regardless of the fact, she’s an entertainer. her photo alone pulled you in to talk about her whether good or bad. you can buy or illegally download her music, she will still book shows, do photo shoots and sign autographs.

Well the results are in Teyana Taylor’s single “Google Me was released in February ’08 and charted at a dismal # 90 on the US R&B singles chart. Her album supposedly dropped in May 2008 to silence. I think that she has a great sense of style, and a decent singing voice, however she’s been a musical disappointment. See in the end after all of the HYPE it’s your CD, downloads, & ringtone sales that matter. She recieved no promotion and no radio or club spins. I guess Pharrell felt that she just wasn’t THAT important. Maybe he signed her as a tax write off?
nothing about Teyana indicates that she will be relevant by the end of the year.

She’s a cute girl with ill fashion, but she should just stick 2 da fashion and dancing side of things, b-cus she has no lyrical skill and we don’t need a female version of Souljah Boy.
