SPRING FASHION PICKS: PROM LOOKS
Monday, April 14, 2008
Well boys and girls, it is Prom Season and I am aware we have many readers here who are Seniors in high school preparing for the big day. In response to the many inquires on recommended looks for Prom, here are a few ideas I came up with from choices right online:

Prom dresses these days aren’t those same stiff poof poof gowns we are use to seeing. So many designers and major stores are selling more softer and elegant gowns like this Kay Unger dress from Saks…

Have fun with prints and patterns for Prom with something like this gorgeous gown from Jovani. The green dress is embellished at the waist with multicolored rhinestones…

Get with the colorblock trend this Spring at the big dance with this Silk gown from Saks Fifth Ave. This is probably my favorite look because its trendy and fun, while still being formal…

The Grecian look always is a go for a simple and very sophisticated outfit. This dress from Nordstrom also shows that contrary to popular belief, black would do just fine as a color choice from Prom…

And speaking of color, pink is always a great choice for Prom. Have fun in this cheap pink strapless dress (you can show your legs!) also from Nordstrom…

Dare to be even more different at prom with a vintage twist. I love this flapper girl inspired fringe dress from Jovani and you could have a lot of fun with it!

Guys, I didn’t forget you. Though its a little more simple for some guys to just rent a tux, you would want to look like you bought it! You can go simple with a three button notch lapel suit, or go all out in a tail coat, wing collared shirt with bow tie. Whether you have a date or not, guys got to look good that day too.
Remember, you only get this day once in a lifetime so make the most of it style wise and have fun! The worse thing is to look back at your prom photo ten years from now and say “what the hell was I thinking?”…

Great post. However, can you make it easier to find the shoes on Zappos? I tried to find that second gold pair and without a brand name etc, it is hard to find. When I click on your link, it takes me to the general Zappos page.

This is a nice looooong post Tianna. (w/b by the way…LOL)
Anyways thank GOD im not in HS anymore (hated it…) but I absolutely love that first dress. That was my favorite. The green Jovani dress is fabulous as well.
I heart most of those shoes (’cept the fish bone one–just a *tad* weird for my tastes)… All the jewelry is dope too. It illicits tons of creative ideas in my mind and kinda brings back memories.
The only thing I would say would be to also put some comparison items up that are more in the price range of these HS students. I don’t know of anyone *really* being up on buying some fierce Jimmy Choos for prom.

awwww its that time again…i remember my prom, o it was so long ago lol i kidd just last year. I looked fabolous, but prom was so garbage. Way overhyped. And it bothered me so much that I had to pay for food that sucked and a dj that had no versatility. Mind you, anyone could have snuck into my prom, i wish i had known there’d be no formal check of tickets, cuz shoot i wouldnt have paid.
But yes the majority of the dresses and accessories posted are lovely. For all you young folks going to prom this year, HAVE FUN! Be Safe, and WRAP IT UP! lol just thought i should throw that in there. Cheers!

Okay, you came back with two totally disposable topics? Come on, get with it. Go over to other fashion blogs and do a bit of copying if you have to, but you’ve got to better represent than this. Prom and lame ripoff topics (that are LATE, by the way). You’re coming off as pretentious in that other topic, but you’re soooo taking advantage of the fact that YOU think the women here aren’t that up on fashion. If you had done these topics on any other style blog, the readers would have eaten you up, girl! And, you know it! I am very chic, if I may say so myself and you’re killing me with these stagnant topics…come on!!!!!

I’m happy to see CL is trying to reach out to the youth by telling them CLASSY timeless pieces are more appropriate then looking like a “dignified whore” lol.
