Solange Knowles – Sandcastle Disco (snippet) – listen
Is it just me or am I really digging everything that I’ve heard from this new Solange project so far. SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams is coming out August 26th and Geffen Records is extremely excited about the project. The single, “I Decided,” has hit Amazon.com and will be released on iTunes soon. “Sandcastle Disco” is a really fun track, super soulful and very danceable. I’m really loving what she’s doing. I’m proud of Solange. It really seems as though she’s stepping out on her own.
Nelly feat. Akon – Body On Me (full) – listen
Check out this new song from Nelly, featuring Akon from his upcoming release, Brass Knuckles, due out June 24th. A lot for albums are being released that day. In any event, I’m not really feeling this song as much as I was liking “Party People.” Nelly has been waiting to to put out this album for a minute now, and a video was just released for “Party People,” with Fergie. I’m hoping that this song isn’t on the album, I’m just not digging it as much as the other material I’ve heard from Brass Knuckles.
Michelle Williams – Hello Heartbreak (snippet) – listen
New music is constantly leaking from Michelle Williams from her third studio album, but first contemporary released, Unexpected. All the songs that I’ve heard, I’ve really loved, and I think this should be quite interesting because fans have really given Michelle a lot of positive feedback about the new album. I haven’t heard anything about a release date, nor have I heard the new single, “We Break the Dawn” on radio or anything, but I’m really excited. I wonder how she’ll sell in comparison the Kelly, who is already back in the studio, working on her third solo effort.
Ryan Leslie – Rescue You (long snippet) – listen
Here goes another song from the talented Ryan Leslie. “Rescue You” is supposedly a track from his debut album. A couple of years ago, Leslie released an album online, free for all his fans. But this time around, he’s releasing a new album in stores and via iTunes. The single, “Diamond Girl” has been really well recieved, and although I think that Ryan is a talented guy, I just don’t really know if I see him as an artist. I absolutely love him as a producer, though.
Cant wait for Michelles CD…

Solange: I am not overly excited about her project, but a lot of her songs are growing on me. This one is okay I can see me singing it somewhere down the line.
Nelly: I am tired of Akon, but this song is catchy. Is that Ashanti on the background vocals. Nelly song is cool though.
Michelle: I am not feeling Michelle’s music so far. And it’s not because it’s diffrent I listen and like all kinds of music
Ryan Leslie: I like what I have heard from so far, but I agree with Brian for some reason I only see him as a producer. I think he is talented but in today’s industry you need more than talent ( i.e. Cassie has none but Diddy seems to promote her more than the real artist on his label) to make it in this era of music aginst all these fake artist.

I love everything I have heard from Michelle as well. People have been raving about her new music. Her album “Unexpected” is dropping on August 12th! “We Break The Dawn” was released on Itunes and has already made an impact. She’s like #15 on the R&B Top 100.

Michelle! I like the other songs from her but, this one not so much. They need to be careful with these tracks leaking like this. It’s only 10 songs on the album, and if they keep it up the leaks, the whole album be leaked before the release date. Same thing happened to Kelly and everyone knows how that went (even though the album she eventually put out was really good)

I dont get artists these days, if Michells album aint out till August then why the heck is she already releasing we break the dawn, she should wait till late july. So many artists leak songs months before the album and I dont think its good business sense.

Actually after hearing Michelle’s new leak I dont like it, it sounds like the whole album will sound the same- where is the versatility. A few club/dance tracks are good but not throughout a whole album.

I’m liking what I’m hearing from Ryan Leslie and Michelle. I have been waiting for some creative in R&B for a minute…this may be a start. Those will probably be the only albums I buy. I am interested in seeing how Solange will promote the type of music she is making…it is really different…not bad…just different. Nelly has no sunstance whatsoever and his songs are mediocre in my opinion.
