Surprisingly, people are find that Solange is really taking it there for the new album, SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams. She said she was going for a mixture of 60′s and 70′s soul with electronica, and this new remix of “I Decided,” by the Free Masons, who are infamous for doing dance records, is just that. I’m actually very excited about Solange’s album. She is really bringing something different to the table. I think it’ll be a good year for her and Michelle.

Slim of 112 has been working on some solo material for quite some time, and here is a fruit of that labor. “So Fly” is supposedly Slim’s new single. He’s been doing some shows in the Atlanta area. The new song features Yung Joc, who had a pretty good coming out with his sophomore album. Even though the song is cool, it feels a little dated to me. I’m not sure where I could see this fitting into mainstream radio.

When I first heard the song, I didn’t think it was Foxy. I mean, it sounds like her, but it doesn’t. The flow is the same but there’s definitely something different about the voice. I think it may just be that the tone is a little higher than what I’m used to. I think that Foxy needs to go on and hurry up1 I’m not exactly positive about what’s going on with the album – but Foxy is out! Her fans have been waiting.

Janet preps the third single from her 10th studio album, Discipline. “Can’t B Good” is one of the few ballads on the album that I really liked. It sounds a little closer to something that her brother has done, but it also takes me back to the sounds of the ballads on Janet’s previous records. I’m not sure where the decision for this song for the third single came into play, but I’m wondering what the video will look like.

I like Solange’s remix. Sometimes it sounds like she’s forcing her voice too hard. Like she was struggling to get out some of those notes. Still good though.

@ 12…I’m not one of those culprits that “diss” MC BUT…I can see in a sense why she’s treated the way she is. There’s a way to go about everything you do & Janet just approaches her career with this essence of how can I put it…..”spicey class” that Mariah just doesn’t have. Not to mention her spandex dresses are a bit over the top at times lol. None the less, both women are great Icons and I know they’ll continue along with much success~

Solange… I like the original, but the remix is even better cuz it really gives a more dancable vibe. This song is real dreamgirls, old american bandstand, u know… I dont know if ya’ll realize that this is the direction is going. Its getting more pop. R&B artist kinda have no choice cuz the main consumers aren’t buying. You can’t attract new people with the same old sound anymore. Even Neo said it himself that R7B is boring now. As far as buddy from 112, it’s a nice song but not a hit…. it’s been done. Janet’s song is cool, it’s just too bad no body really cares about her anymore. Her album was good but I guess her fan aren’t as loyal as they used to be. But if Solange comes out with a bangin video (Im thinkin with the cinematography from Beyonce’s Deja Vu video) It could be a HIT

I like both MC and Janet!! I think MC gets clowned more because of how she dresses too. With MC,there is the added and constant visual of her walking around looking tacky in an attempt to stay ‘young’ or whatever. Anyway love MC even though her new CD is TRASH!
-Discipline is a hot ass album, and “Can’t be Good” is a beautiful song. Ne-yo definitely did his thing with that one.

I like all the songs. And for the record I think CBG is a good choice for Janet as a third single. Folks have been sayin that janets music is young and immature, so it makes sense that Janet releases a more adult comtemporary song that reaches grown folks. Not to mention her voice is clear on the track and her harmonies are beautiful on the song as well. In all honesty, as much as I like “Discipline” for its dance tracks, I would have like to have seen Janet go in a more layed back R&B direction that she displays on “CBG”, “whats your name”, “greatest ex ever” and “curtains”. She really needs to call Jimmy and Terry.

Brian, I respect your opinions but you say the same thing about everyone and for some reason you don’t like anything that is hott. Case in point, that Slim/Yung Joc song. Was expecting more from Janet, though this song is more mature than her last two from Discipline, it isnt a classic song its very repetitive and boring personally I dont like it. I really like LUV thats a great song, but I dont know if it would do well commercially.
I think R&B has died partly because black people dont buy music anymore, of course people of all races download free music but black people are particular fans of getting music for free. Back in the day artists like Lauryn Hill whose music wasnt targeted to white people still managed to do well on the charts, Lauryn went 18 times platinum! which is unheard of nowadays and she sang r&b/soul.
If know one is buying r&b music then urban artists wont see the point in making r&b music.

I like the janet song but wrong choice as a single, mind you, it’s the only song where she doesn’t sound overly wispy and her voice isn’t overpowered by the beats.
