Popular writer and producer Sean Garrett, also known as the “The Pen,” releases a video for his first single, “Grippin’ (On the Bed),” featuring Ludacris. Although I’m a little bit against this new influx of producers pushing out albums (The Dream, now Sean Garrett), I guess they want to get their creative juices out too.
Sean Garrett is responsible for punching out hits for Beyonce, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Fantasia and many, many more. His album, Turbo 919, is set to release sometime this summer.

Producers are coming out more because you don’t have to be “fine” in order to sell records (ex. t-pain, akon, the dream, and a host of others). In earlier years record company’s would base wether or not they would sign/back a artist, a lot, on looks but now they are seeing that “ugly” people can be marketable…Oh yeah, the ludacris intro was not needed, it makes the video/song extra corny. And that trench coat made it no better…i say “try again”

This is my song! I been listening to it since like december happy the video is out even though it look cheap. Despite, all that Sean Garrett is still one of the best songwriters in the game today. I’m looking forward to the album.

I thought Neo-soul was an answer but thats starting to sound repetitive too. ( Sorry Raheem) I absolutely love music, but find myself always wanting something more, and i’m always left with this trash and the dream, tpain, etc….Does anyone have any resolution to this????

Ok…I agree the influx of the producers/writers becoming singers themselves is getting a little bit much, however, if the song is good AND they can sing – then they should go for it.
