Just yesterday, Cassie’s new single, “Official Girl” surfaced on the internet. The new single, produced by Danja and penned by The Clutch, is the first single from Cassie’s sophomore effort. The thing about it is, 16 year-old Karina Pasian recorded the song as well. Karina (who is signed to Def Jam) has been making waves with her song “16 At War” and can throw down on the piano.
I actually believe in this song and I think it’s a good a look. Vocally, I’m not really impressed with either version, but I know that I do like Karina’s voice. I think that it’s just the vocal arrangement and production is meant to be underwhelming, so that’s why I’m not really impressed with either. But what do you think? Who sang it better?

I just love the song all together. I love Karina’s voice. But I love Cassies lyrics. I guess I’ll have to go with Karina. She does sound a little better.
I agree Brian, I’m not really impressed by the song. It’s sounds bleak, like a filler on an album. But I do like Karina’s voice way better than Cassie’s. So I prefer Karina’s version.
I just read about Karina in the issue of Vibe magazine. She was highlighted as a new artists in their “Next” (artist on the verge) section. They say there will most likely be a lot Alicia Keys comparisons when she comes out, because she’s a trained pianist as well.

I like Karina’s version better. She sounds a lot like Tiffany Evans (& I’m not saying that just because their in the same age group) but her voice is lower.
HMMMMM… really karina… was great! i love her voice very smooth. but the song should be a little stronger…but i was impressed with cassie.. her voice was light and sweet..
But karina put the song on a wrap they should give the song to her..her voice brought me in and held me there for the whole song.. great job though ladies.

Cassie just has a softer voice than Karina.
Karina is definitely far more talented than Cassie..but I think Cassie’s voice fits the song well too. But Karina just stands out more..she has more of a presence on a record than Cassie does!

When I heard cassie’s version the other day, I really liked the song. But after hearing the song sung by someone who can actually sing made the song even better!

Cassie has like no range what so ever! SHizz, i have more range than Cassie. Not that this song calls for much. Karina’s voice is stronger and there is vocal talent there.

Karina…..she actually made me want to listen to the whole song. Her voice is stronger, and you can tell that her voice wasn’t compromised using a computer, lwhich is evident with Cassie’s version. Karina’s voice actually sounds pure….but I really wanna hear her singing a different song, because I can tell this song does nothing for her full vocal ability.

Karina’s god father is Quincy Jones and she is also signed to def jam/ she’ a Jay-z project. Its also funny because Diddy has been trying to sign Karina for some time now, could this be a revenge tactic against Def jam for signing her??? I heard some of her songs and 16 @ war is not all that bad but it does however remind me of Tiffany Evans. All her other songs are no good. Her label needs to hire someone that can help develop her own sense of style and sound because in Vibe magazine i mistaked her for Tifffany Evans…..

i like the lyrics as with cassies..but the song just sucks, these lyrics with this beat, something bout it is like all over the place. Am i the only one that gets all confused when they hear the song? lol. But yes, karina has talent..cassie just does not. I honestly though, dont know which one i like better. Theres certain parts in karinas version that i like better, yet i kinda like cassies soft voice better with this song. Its a draw.

Karina is shitting on Cassie.Heard the version yesterday and Karina put a better spin to it.I browsed through her myspace and she has a couple videos and was singing for Diddy.She was really smart not to sign with Bad Boy.Karina who is only 16 and Tiffany Evans who is like 14 has much more pipes than these paper-thin chicks out now.But you know selling sex is what’s gonna make you go far in the industry.Cassie does however make the song sound very popish and girly, but the song isn’t all that great.It depends on who singing it too.
