♫ Carmen – Mr. Inconsistent
Check out Atlantic Records’ newest girl group. Brittaney, Lana and Roxie make up the threesome Carmen. The group was formed by childhood friends Brittaney and Roxie in Baltimore, MD. The girls went on a nationwide search to find the third member and met Lana. When I first heard about the group, I was excited because there hasn’t been a girl group to make a splash on the scene.
But I have to admit, I’m not really digging “Mr. Inconsistent.” It sounds like the girls have strong voices and can really sing, but there is way too much going on in the production of the song. It just sounds sort of dated and kind of reminds of the era of when TUG was putting out this overly produced songs. The song has been getting a small buzz, but I just don’t think this is a great choice for a first single. But what do you think?

I agree with #2. There’s too much going on in the song, I can’t really hear what they sound like. I don’t like the name of the group either. It sounds like a solo artist and not an actual group. If it was an acronym (e.g.C.A.R.M.E.N) that would make more sense.

It doesn’t sound Mixed or mastered and voice sound too forced. the production IS dated …song is ok, but won’t get these girls anywhere, wasn’t really catchy or anything and I couldn’t wait for that noise to go off. To compete in todays market you have to sound cuttin edge and fresh or atleast try to do what everyone else is doing and this song is like 6 years ago…sorry

Danity Kane you left three more members out- here they are. I agree with everyone else. The song and their sound was rehashed. Nothing to write home to Mama about. These girl have a good look and great voices. They should probably do some Neo Soul. I’ve never seen a Neo Soul group before. Maybe they should try it and break the ice.

I’m an intern at Atlantic records- this is such a blemish. They got dropped. And this song must be something they did on their own. I never heard it. this is embarassing. I worked on Danity Kane- and trust me- they are no Danity Kane!!

These young ladies are VERY talented young ladies. I have seen them perform and although I feel this particular mix of the song may not do them justice, I think it’s a good song and concept and these young ladies have been working their asses off. I have yet to hear a group out, right now, who has as much NATURAL ability as these young ladies. Mr. Inconsistent didn’t allow for that display as much as it should have but before blasting them saying they are trying to be Destiny’s Child or Danity Kane you should get to know CARMEN. They are who they are. Destiny’s Child is DONE! Danity Kane (though manufactured…as many of you say) are doing their thing. There is enough room in this industry to more than one or two female groups. Because we have our favorites, this should not diminish the talent of the new artists on the scene.
All of the personal comments about the girls are really unnecessary because it just overshadows any valid critique you may have. Let’s give critiques that will help them grow not knock them down. Haven’t we gotten past all that BS?

OMG! What is really going on? The only reason why so many of ya is on this Danity Kane kick is because of Diddy. CARMEN’s swagger in this pic is ten times better then them. Have any of you ever been to a show that CARMEN has done? Theze chics has the Look, the Voice, and they can Dance. It was ok. I just wish that we could market African-American girl groups in a different light. Why do they all have to dress in urban gear, with weaves and hair colors that are not natural to them. I think we (as black people and society at large) can appreciate natural hair or different choice in dress. This formula that they use for girl groups is getting really old and boring. I can already guess what their songs are going to be like, what they are going to wear and their dance moves. PLEASE I’M BEGGING FOR SOME SUBSTANCE. Music needs to get higher.
