Okay, let’s start from the begining.
BET seems to just pull nominations just for the sake of having a show. Why would you have Best male and female artist categories…..but you don’t have that for the groups? i.e. Danity Kane is in the same category with Day26. As far as I know, Danity Kane is a group full of women and Day26 is a group full of men. Now speaking of Day26….why are they nominated?!! they only had one single out, and it didn’t even get significant or substantial airplay. I’m from New York and even Hot97 doesn’t play “Got Me Going” like it should. Danity Kane is in a category going up against rappers like UGK when they’re singers….hm that makes sense. I don’t see why a pop group like Danity Kane (face it they’re pop) got nominated and Rihanna didn’t.

As for Kid Sister….Who?!! I mean I heard of the name somewhere along the lines with Kanye West and I think I seen her nails video, but honestly, she’s in worse shape than Day26 because she didn’t even have as much promotion but yet she got a nomination. This really shows me that BET needs to shut down the awards for awhile and re-evaluate it. The Grammys’ don’t even have a female hip hop category because there’s not enough female rappers/MCS’. Now, Eve?! She had one of the worst albums of the year last year. It had to be pushed back, what, 3 times? and she only put one or two singles. Thats crazy how she’s up in there.

Now with Lil Wayne. He’s a confusing situation to me. Lil Wayne doesn’t have an album out yet he’s nominated with people that did put out albums. When does putting out so many mixtapes and feature singles with other artists reward nominations at “prestigious” award shows? LOL thats crazy!!

Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, I looked at the Best Actress category and Chandra Wilson is nominated. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a wonderful actress. She’s one of the reasons I watch Grey’s Anatomy but she’s on TELEVISION!! LOL she’s nominated with women who majorly do films. BET should have made a Best TV Actress and Best Film Actress. Something along those lines. It just shows that they pulled her nomination out of nowhere to fill in a void because the Best Actor category has no television actors.

I see Soulja Boy reigns over substantial artists.
I am shocked at the fact that someone of lyrical ability like Lupe Fiasco (i enjoy his music) didn’t get nominated.

The awards will be predictable as hell as always, but I think Erkyah should win Video of the Year for the Honey video. That video was unique and paid homage to a lot talented artists. She did a good job separating herself from the standard R&B video. If they don’t choose her then I guess LYNSMA should win.

I wish Chrisette or Estelle would win for best new artist, but I doubt they will. BET base their wards on popularity. It would be a real shame if Soulja Boy ended up being the winner. Theat would be slap in the face to real artists everywhere.
