Honestly, I really thought this was some random-ass rumor for publicity, but I guess Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon really did get married last week. For some odd reason, I still don’t believe it. But, let me stop..
People Magazine got some info and exclusive pics:
“We really do feel we are soulmates,” Carey tells PEOPLE, following their sunset ceremony at the pop star’s Bahamian estate. “I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me.”
Cannon adds: “She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside.”

II know that a long marriage doesn’t nessacarily mean a good marriage but the example I gave about my best friends marriage, well they had a fantastic marriage. They loved eachother more than life. He died exactly a year after she did and some might would say that he died of a broken heart. I just dont think one should compare their relationship to anyone else’s because every relationship is different because every person is different and because 6 weeks might be too fast for some or even most, it doesnt automatically mean it’s too fast for them. I try to look at things from a spirtual perspective so I think its possible that this was already meant to be by God for a purpose. I dont think because she’s pushin 40 that she’s desperate. This is Mariah Carey! She can get any man she wants. Regardless if they got married too fast or not (only they know that and only GOD knows that), I wish them a long lasting loving marriage. I dont get why people are saying they are making a mockery out of marriage just because they got married fast. Its their life, their choice and Mariah is a smart chick.

Mariah Carey — yes, she’s married, it’s confirmed, it really happened down there in the Bahamas. She is now Mrs. Nick Cannon. You always thought you’d marry Mariah? Well, you’re too late now!
More importantly: Miss Mariah and Mr. Cannon have a very nice prenuptial agreement.
Mariah apparently told a mutual pal of ours: “Anyone who thinks we didn’t have a prenup is smoking something!”
This is not the Mariah Carey of old. She is a smart, smart businesswoman. For example: Post-Tommy Mottola, Carey nabbed $50 million from her short-lived deal with Virgin Records. After “Glitter,” they just paid her all that to walk away!
She’s had three hit albums since then: “Charmbracelet,” “Emancipation of Mimi” and the current “E=MC2.” She has her own perfume line, as well. Mariah also has substantial real estate holdings, and let’s not forget the publishing royalties. Her name is on every song. This is not Whitney. She has a small fortune, and she’s not about to lose it, even in love.
As for the wedding, I know this much: Mariah’s cousin, Shawn McDonald, walked her down the aisle. And the Bahamas ceremony will not be the only one. When Mariah and Nick return from their honeymoon, expect a big party and maybe even a second ceremony, something not so secret, for all the singer’s New York pals.
