Black Star Power was in full force Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art annual Costume Gala. The theme was “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” but as you can tell by most of the photos, many of the celebs opted to skip it.
Celebs included: Beyonce, Kimora Lee Simmons, Venus Williams, Iman, Janet & Jermaine and more. Also make sure to peep the list that Tianna made featuring what the stars rock’d that night.
WHAT THEY WERE WEARING..
Beyonce – Armani Prive gown

Mary J. Blige – Michael Kors gown
Janet Jackson – Altier Versace
Thandie Newton – Chanel gown and Azzedine Alaia heels

Jennifer Lopez – Alberta Ferretti gown
Venus Williams – Carroline Herrera gown

Fergie – Calvin Klein gown
EVERY1 LOOKS GOOD BUT WAT IS UP WIT KIMORA AND JOY BRYANTS CLOTHES.
I really like Kimora’s dress the colors are real pretty and really like Janet’s dress but everyone ook good though.
THE GOOD -
Beyonce: Simple and classy. The dress fits her to a “T” and it’s a nice color on her.
Kimora: She took a risk with all the colors, but it paid off. Strangely enough, I like this dress on her. She’s statuesque and “fablulous” enuf to pull it off.
Janet: In a word – FLAWLESS. The dress is beautiful, and the white really “pops” against her glowing complexion. Hair and makeup totally on point. JD cleans up decent, too. He’ll never be GQ material, but that shaggy beard he was sporting wasn’t doing him any favors. I’m glad he got rid of it.
Iman: Just STUNNING. She’s always consistently classy and beautiful. David Bowie knows to just fall back and let her shine.
J.Lo: I know some were disappointed, but I actually like her dress. That shade of aqua is one of my favorite colors. No comment on Marco Antonio.
Paula Patton: Gorgeous as usual. That gold dress is a good look on her. Robin looks pretty spiffy too.
Thandie: The ruffled mini was a risky choice, but it works on her. She’s such a pretty lady that she can just about get away with it. Plus, she has nice stems!
Venus: A pleasant suprise. Looking good!
THE COULD-BE-BETTER -
Zoe Kravitz: She should just stop trying to fight the fact that she’s a pretty girl, even with the sourpuss expression on her face. I love the dress. The feather boa, not so much.
Katie Holmes: The dress is alright, but those bright blue shoes have got to go!
Victoria: That lace suit-dress is not one of my favorites, but it actually works on her. But her makeup is too heavy and it makes her look old. David is handsome as all get-out, but what’s new?
Eva: this dress is just OK to me. Too many ruffles for her petite frame. Jessica A. wore it better (pregnant) a few months ago at the Oscars.
Mary J. Blige: Nice dress, but those etra-long blonde bangs kill the whole look for me. She looks a bit too much like Janice Combs.
THE UGLY -
Bill Maher & “date”: Can’t this man stop getting his dates from escort services? We all know Bill has had a serious case of Jungle Fever for years, but surely he can just find a regular black woman to date him.
Fergie: Scary. That black dress (tent) just swallows her up. And her hair and makeup are too severe.
Joy Bryant: Fire your stylist, if you don’t blind him/her first with that H.A.M. of a dress. Also, next time, you might want to try an actual hair STYLE. Joy looks like she just rolled outta bed and ran a comb through her hair before coming to this event.
I am loving Kimoras Dress…she is fabulous..!!!!!!.
David B. and Robin T…are two fine white men. all I can say is ..SEXY!!!

As someone else said I really liked Eva Longoria dress although her picture isn’t posted. I didn’t think J-Lo looked to good. She seems to have aged in the face since the twins and Marc does look like he might have had the powder before the show. Beyonce looks nice to me but I’m not liking the purse. Although I liked her toned down look. She looking oh so natural and fresh. Mary really needs to stop with that blond hair. It threw everyrhing off and left her looking out of place. David Becham is fine and his wife looks a damn fool. Kimora sit down with that terrible looking loud dress. I expected so much more from a fashionista such as she is supposed to be.
