♫ HOT OR NOT: MIKA MEANS “SPEND YA MONEY”

♫ Mika Means - Spend Ya Money

Mika Means is 1/3 of the songwriting, producing and performing threesome, The Girls Club. You’ve never heard her music, but you’ve heard some songs that she’s penned. Mika has worked with artists Kelis, Mya, 3LW, Lloyd, and Usher, as well as producers like Polow Da Don and Bangladesh. But now she’s stepping out on her own and trying her luck. “Spend Ya Money” is a playful, mid-tempo track that speaks to a woman who knows what her man wants, but all she wants to do is spend his money.

When I first heard the track, the production put me in the mindset of “Soulja Girl.” The song is very radio-ready. I’ve seen Mika perform before, so I know this girl can sing. I’m thinking that the vocoder effect that T-Pain is most popular for using is just something to get her familiarized with radio. “Spend Ya Money” has been all over the radio here in Atlanta, after popular DJ Greg Street premiered it.

Mika Means is dope and so artistic. The problem is the way Americans critique. No one is able to stand in their own lane here. They call it the land of the free but its more like the land of comparisons. Everyone is compared to everyone else. It’s a shame that you really have to be commercial and sell-out a bit in order to reach a certain level of success. I personally appreciate Mika and rock her on my Ipod each day. Her simplicity is divine. It reminds me of 90’s music. When music was phenominal and innovative. I bet yall listen to that Madonna and Justin shit don’t you? As for you “independent” women…who don’t like the lyrical content. She may be gold digging a bit in this particular situation but I think its an acceptable rebuttle to the man in the song…He just wants to fuck. She’s saying fuck that… but Ill spend your damn money. But yall can’t see that.. its cool. Yall can’t help. Yall gon’ learn.

I must say,

The song is catchy, cool, and on a although on a 1-10 scale, I personally would give it a 5, I’m sure it could be a semi-hit these days, since everyone these days is looking for an anthem to rock to. Only thing I see wrong with it is the T-Pain voice and all the singing in general. . . all of it’s trash. Very close though. . .

Mika Means sounds like no other!!!!!! i love it!!!! What ever happened to appreciating an artist for writing their own material???? You haters are so narrow-minded and brainwashed that you can’t recognize a real artist when you see one. You guys would rather see some fake depiction of a black woman, half naked, shaking her behind next to Rick Ross than to support a woman who clearly knows what she wants, has an original concept and writes her own music. And are you guys listening to the same track I am???? For the ignorant earred hater- she clearly states that she knows the dude wants to cut so thats why her attitude is like well- i just wanna spend your money… Instead of attacking her for saying something that resides in the minds of ALL women- lets attack why our black men only look at us as pieces of meat to fornicate with!!! And for all you fake wanna be independent women- stop giving your coochie away for free and get a bill payed losers!!!!! When a black woman tryna get some help with a bill- she a gold digger but a white woman can take a black man to the bank every time and shes the victim….. what the hell??? Do ya thing Mika Means!!! We love u in Jersey.
