Solange is gearing up for the release of her video for the first single off her sophomore album, SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dream. In the mean time, music has been leaking from the project and it’s getting me super excited. After hearing a couple of tracks, I just realize that Solange is really just trying to bring something new, different and fresh. Something that people just wouldn’t expect from her.
On “Sandcastle Disco,” Solange explores a little bit of ’60′s and ’70′s soul and dance/electronica music. Solange compares her fragile emotions to a sandcastle, pleading her love not to “blow her away.” A very interesting concept. It’s got a really feel-good vibe to it. But what do you think?

I love the beat and the words. It’s a fun feel good type of song. I have to be honest I don’t really like her vocal skills with any of the material premiered. I love the direction she’s going though, but I wish the beat and her songwriting skill had been done for someone else.

I like her sound but I think her image needs to be tweeked a little bit, I really think she should go shorter in hair lenght and find a more softer color!!! I think her body type should be put in more form fitting clothing!!! I am digging the futuristic look but it needs to be constructed more thoroughly, the swagger in some of the pics is not there… She needs to own it more!!!!! IMHO… BUT I WISH HER LUCK…

I give credit where its due, this sounds really good. The beat and lyrics are fresh and upbeat. I could see this being a hit for her. This should be the 2nd single after “I Decided”.

Solange is definitely getting it!! This song really does just make you feel good and smile. It’s got that good ‘ol vibe and it’s got a cute message. I must admit, some of her leaked songs have been really iffy to me, but this is strong. I think she’s what music needs…I just hope the industry and consumers will be receptive to her.
