Solange is gearing up for the release of her video for the first single off her sophomore album, SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dream. In the mean time, music has been leaking from the project and it’s getting me super excited. After hearing a couple of tracks, I just realize that Solange is really just trying to bring something new, different and fresh. Something that people just wouldn’t expect from her.
On “Sandcastle Disco,” Solange explores a little bit of ’60′s and ’70′s soul and dance/electronica music. Solange compares her fragile emotions to a sandcastle, pleading her love not to “blow her away.” A very interesting concept. It’s got a really feel-good vibe to it. But what do you think?

So many ppl are expecting 4 her 2 come out sounding like her sis, or Destiny’s Child & she’s got her own flavor. I alwayz kinda knew Solange had her own flavor, her own mind. Ppl alwayz link her w/her sister of course, but she has always stood aside, had her own style, and everything. Speaking of style I am SO feeling her style, the hair, the dresses the pics it’s all so damn different, and different is G~R~R~EAT! I’m proud of Solange, and am extremely excited 2 see how her album turnz out this year!! Congrats gurrlll,,,, looking like a Grammy is in ur near future!!

I LOVE Solange!!! I can’t wait for the album and I am def diggin all the songs I have heard from her so far. I really wish people would stop comparing her to Bey though, they obviously have 2 different styles and I am sure that she is not in competition with her sister. You can tell she just loves what she does and just wants to be heard and respected as an INDIVIDUAL..

This is really good, I actually like it and I am not easy to impress. However the choruses for her songs need to stand out more- thats my only criticism.
I love the fact that she finally seems out of her sisters shadow and her image is totally different, so is her sound. i think this will work for her.

I voted “not” just because I’m not feeling the song. I think “I Decided” was way better. I understand she’s putting herself on this album AND she has an eclectic soul BUT I hope the whole cd doesn’t have an oldie vibe. I mean she can pull it off SOMETIMES but I haven’t been convinced she can pull it off ALL the time.

Wow…I gotta say that I am impressed with this song…I really was not expecting much from Solage, musically. I am actually interested in hearing what else is on the album. I am glad she went in a different direction, musically, than her sister. Now, maybe she can get some shine.

I am jealous of drummer on video.I want to audition for The Dreams.Solange is incedibly beautiful on vid,and backup singer to her left is too cute for words.The song is one of the best pop tunes of the year,and should get nominated for best female vocal.I keep going back to youtube to watch every couple of days and am glad it’s still available.I’m not a fan of what I term chick rock,yet this song and video transend any genre,because it’s so damn adorable.You know you do that to all the boys Solange!
