♫ NEW MUSIC FROM JENNIFER HUDSON ♫

Friday, May 16, 2008

JENNIFER HUDSON - SPOTLIGHT

Jennifer Hudson has leaked a new song for her much anticipated debut solo album, which has yet to be titled. The project is a long time coming: Clive Davis signed Jennifer a while back to his J. Records label, after her film debut in Dreamgirls, and tapped OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, who is responsible for Leona Lewis’s “Bleeding Love” to helm most of the album. Apparently, she’s been in the studio with the likes of Ne-Yo, Timbaland and The Clutch, but rumors swarmed of those sessions being scrapped.

I’m not sure how I feel about the song - I think I was expected Jennifer to let us have it and belt it out, but she didn’t. In any event, the as-yet-titled debut hits stores in September. I’m sure J. Hud has some tricks up her sleeve.

SHE MISSED THAT WINDOW OF HOTNESS, WHEN SHE WAS RETOOLING HER ALBUM, IT WILL DO GOOD, BUT SHE HAD EVERYONES ATTENTION AND NOW SHE NEEDS TO REGAIN THAT LOST ATTENTION

She always sounds good, but I think she’ll have more sucess in the movie business with the way the music industry is right now!

I also think the song is ok, its not strong enough for a single at all, but i would listen to it on her cd, i am really wanting her to have a great cd she deserves it!

It’s just OKAY…..I don’t know if she truly fit in the “current” R&B category….she’s more Contemporary R&B.

I think her belting will have a place on her album, but there is no need to go there for every song. Sometimes, less is best. Just stay on pitch and have fun with it. We all know she can sing so no need to prove it for 10-14 tracks of an album. That was Leona’s problem. They wanted her to blow the roof off with every song thus leading to an album full of ballads and not-quite-as-slow ballads.

That said, I kind of like it. I say kind of because it is very NeYo-ish IMO and I’m kind of tired of his stamp being all over every song on the radio. She has a VERY broad audience and fanbase right now so it’ll be interesting to see how she brings all that into an album that isn’t all over the place but isn’t pigeon holed.

I like it and also agree with @#9 and #8., she has that soulful power house voice,

I like this song. Finally something that doesn’t sound like Dreamgirls… It is definitely best for her to relax her voice for most songs on her album so that she doesn’t sound like the Dreamgirls soundtrack.

Good Job Jennifer!

hmmm…not so much. it was too much of the same thing over and over again. mundane at best. not feelin it at all. it was just boring. NEXT!

I don’t think she should try and sing … period.

Besides, Jennifer has MAJOR dues to pay in the acting world…

wow, amazing beauty…I hears she had a personal account on the black or white singles club’B L A C K W H I T E K I S S .C O M’ with photos and blog there. The blog was updated very often. Lots of guys joined in her friend circle.

Friday, May 16, 2008 /

i heard it already on another site and immediatley downloaded it

everybody been tellin her to come out of the dreamgirls thing and become more mainstream…..well she did it and now bloggers are talkin about expecting her to belt it out….make up your minds

i like the song alot and its perfect for her because although the beginning is slow and steady she still puts a little bit of her trademark self at the end, sorry jen you can’t please everybody….(especially those that contradict themselves lol) do you miss jennifer….but dont forget where the real money is coming from MOVIES make that money.

Friday, May 16, 2008 /

I think this song is cute. I imagaine myself playing her cd and listening to this track. But I definitely think she needs a stronger song as her first single.

20.

Rake

Friday, May 16, 2008 /

Didn’t listen to it but I think she should stick to acting…I don’t like the speaking scene I saw in the preview for the Sex and the City movie…that, of course, was a second but that “to fall in love” was about like every line Beyonce uttered from 15 minutes into dreamgirls on out…I think people should stay in their lanes…perfect that and then if you want to seque into something else you’re passionate about, fine.

21.

SO FRESH

Friday, May 16, 2008 /

I’M KINDA DIGGIN’ IT….LOVE HER VOICE FOR STARTERS…BUT I STILL HOPE SHE COME HARDER ON DA ALBUM!!!

to number 18

ITS just that this song is not catchy or powerful enuf to be a good single, personnaly i dont expect her to scream and to prove something on a track u know
i just want her to have a good single who give me emotion.that why i say that the song is ok u know i would listen to it ,if it was on cd, but i aint gonna jump around lol
she’s a good singer so we expect lots from her ,something new, something different i dont know but this song to me its not goood enuf
my opinion

23.

STAR

Friday, May 16, 2008 /

Her voice is gawjuss more so when its toned down, she has a brilliant tone to her voice. I do think there is room for her in the music industry; christina aguilera has powerhouse vocals but she still sells. Singing should be about a great voice (+ personality) and thats what J-hud has.

The song is good, i think it might grow on me. But its not single potential, its more of an album filler. But at least shes finally leaked something!

She should have made a good album whilst filming Dreamgirls, that would have off-set her career.

Screw radio. The song is written well, and Jen’s voice sounds really good. That’s why the art of the ALBUM is dying because some people are always concerned with radio. Go J-Hud (and R-Ted if you produced this… lol)!

Im not sure what you were looking for but that song was hot. This is what RHYTHM AND BLUES is, not all the extra beats and extras that the rest of todays young artist rely on. She is belting too. Im usually on the same page as you but with this song I think youre a little off……sorry

Ok I like the softness of her voice here. MUCH better than the last song you posted on here. I dont hear Effie…I hear Jennifer Hudson, and I love it. The tenderness of her voice is very refreshing. She doesn’t sound broad way or anything. She sounds very urban and soulful but still…tender.

It’s okay for me. It is just another song in a long line that I don’t care for by Ne-Yo. He’s a great writer but his songs do nothing for me at all.

Friday, May 16, 2008 /

I like this song. It tells a story, her voice sounds lovely and floats over the melody. It reminds me of something old school, like Chaka or Patrice Rushen or Karen White.

Jennifer can’t come out and make a super pop album, she doesn’t have that kind of voice. She has a heavier old school quality to her voice. And if she came out with a pop record it wouldn’t be hot.

Her album should be adult.

I’m feeling this.

WOW, to my surprise I actually REALLY like this song. It’s sounds very nice and I love how she sounds in it. I can definitley hear the influence by ‘No One’. I just can’t see it being played on the radio but I think she did great with this song.

If you have haters...your doing your job!!!l

Friday, May 16, 2008 /

I think this somg is beautiful…I agree that its not single material, however its lets us finally see that Jennifer can be versatile and not just “Effie.”

For all of you that keep saying that J. Hud should have put out an album in the Dream Girl era I think that just the opposite. There was so much controversy about her and Beyonce that her album would have been overshadowed by all the Beyonce stans.

J.Hud is one of the originals o our generation. She is not one of these females that starving herself to fit in with mainstream beauty. She doesnt need a lacefront to create a facade like some other people we wot name, and most importantly she can SING!!!! No studio effects, just the beautiful voice that GOD gave her. And to all of yall on this site makeing negative comments ask yourself when was the last time you used one of your blessings to its full ability? And since most of you on here cant do much more than sing in the shower please STOP hating on this young lady and give her the kudos that she deserves.

I LOVE THIS SONG!! I think its refreshing to hear her step outside of the whole “Dream Girls” vibe and sing a lil softer. She still takes the song home after the bridge. I think the hook is great. ITS REAL MUSIC!! Something with some dang substance for a change!! Go Jen!!

Saturday, May 17, 2008 /

I like it, and I’m glad she didn’t oversing it. I’m sure she’ll do enough belting on the album. This is a very radio friendly song that people can sing along with.

WELL I’M FEELING THIS SONG AND SHE HAS A WONDERFUL VOICE, HER UPCOMING ALBUM NEED TO PUT OUT THERE LIKE HER DREAMGIRL APPEARANCE SHE WILL DO FINE IN THE INDUSTRY. NOT ONLY DOES SHE NEED TO BE APPEALING TO THE YOUNG CROWD BUT ALSO THE OLDER ONES TOO. SHE STILL GOT IT I DON’T CARE WHAT NOBODY SAY.

66.

TRAILBLAZER

Saturday, May 17, 2008 /

I really like this song. I think she did her share of belting out on this song without it being too overbearing. The beat of this song is pretty live so I think she did a good job of just riding the beat and hitting high notes where needed. I think R & B may still have a chance after all. This song is really refreshing. Kind of remind me of the type of songs that whitney houston is known for singing, which is good in my opinion. Jennifer definitely has her own sound and I think that will be her big advantage in a music industry where everyone sounds pretty much the same except a small few.

67.

SMH

Saturday, May 17, 2008 /

SMH @ #56 being a hypocrite. How you gonna talk about Jennifer having haters when you hating on Beyonce in the same sentence?smh And the sad part is that Jennifer wears weaves/lacefronts too so your comment cant even be taken seriously. I am a fan of both ladies but you are just a biased hypocrite. Beyonce is beautiful and talented and she deserves all her success. You’re not helping Jennifer at all by having Beyonce name in your mouth. Nobody even really brought her up before you and then you have the nerve to call people haters?SMH

Anyway this song has to grow on me but I am still looking forward to Jennifer’s album as well as Beyonce’s and several other talented women.
