NEWS ROUNDUP: BLACKS COMMIT MORE CRIMES? / SUGE KNIGHT CLUB DRAMA / PHILLY BEATING UPDATE / O.J. CONFESSED?
Monday, May 12, 2008

A new report by Human Rights Watch, Targeting Blacks: Drug Law Enforcement and Race in the United States, found that blacks are arrested and imprisoned for drug-related crimes at a much higher rate than whites, although whites commit more drug offenses.
According to the report, a black man is 12 times more likely to be sent to prison for a drug offense than a white man and a black woman, five times more likely than a white woman. A recent report by the Pew Charitable Trusts also found that one in 15 black men are locked up in the U.S. compared to one in 106 white men.
Okay…So, what are we going to do about all this? It’s not like we didn’t already know this!
SUGE KNIGHT INVOLVED IN ALTERCATION

Hip-Hop mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was assaulted and involved in an altercation with an unknown man in front of Hollywood nightclub on Saturday night (May 10). Knight was at Shag nightclub when he began arguing with another man, reportedly over money…
According to TMZ, Knight and his entourage assaulted the man, who managed to land a blow which knocked Knight unconscious for almost three minutes. An unknown woman who attempted to commandeer an SUV and transport Knight to the hospital struck the vehicles in front and in back of her, before security removed her from the driver’s seat.
Knight was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor wounds. He did not file a police report and allegedly refused to cooperate with Los Angeles police officers. Check out TMZ for more photos.
PHILADELPHIA POLICE BEATING
Last week, a video of at least a dozen predominantly white Philadelphia police officers pulling three black men out of a car after a pursuit and then kicking, punching and hitting them with batons while the men lie restrained on the ground was released to the public.
“There’s no excuse for that type of behavior, and we certainly want to take action,” Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said.
Mayor Michael Nutter added that he was “tremendously disappointed” by the officers’ behavior and said, “The conduct was unacceptable. It did not live up to the professional standards we have set for the police department.” He also said that the incident has “virtually nothing to do with race; it has to do with crime.”
The three men — Dwayne Dyches, 24; Brian Hall, 23; and Pete Hopkins, 19 — were charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment, according to court officials after officers said they saw the suspects fire shots and injure three people standing on a street corner before fleeing the scene.
On Sunday, Al Sharpton said Dwayne Dyches was still in pain and did not know why the police were chasing him. Sharpton and Dyches’s mother, Leomia, spent about an hour with him at the correctional facility where he is being held. Dyches’s attorney says that the three men were not involved in the triple shooting and Sharpton added that it was a fact-finding mission and the family has not decided whether to take legal action. O.J. CONFESSED?

How I Helped O.J. Get Away With Murder: The Shocking Inside Story of Violence, Loyalty, Regret and Remorse hit stores on Monday and author Mike Gilbert claims he helped O.J. Simpson get out of the murder charges by suggesting how to bloat his hands so they wouldn’t fit the notorious bloody gloves.
Gilbert also said Simpson had smoked marijuana and taken a sleeping pill and was drinking beer when he confided in him what had happened the night of June 12, 1994.
Gilbert alleges that Simpson said he went to his ex-wife’s condominium but did not bring a knife with him. Simpson told him Nicole Brown Simpson had one in her hand when she opened the door. In a soft mumble, Simpson told him: “If she hadn’t opened that door with a knife in her hand … she’d still be alive.”
“Nothing more needed to be said,” Gilbert writes. “O.J. had confessed to me. There’s no doubt in my mind.”

Well that’s all swell and all but there’s no double jeopardy in this country, it’s irrelevant now if he did it or not. The people who helped him get away with it will surely rot in hall, not even Jesus will forgive what they did. Notice how Cochran has died and so has Kardashian, both two major players in the case.

Umm as far as I am concerned the fault falls solely on O.J. not his attorneys. They just as the public had not the faintest idea if he had did it or not and were doing their jobs. Now as far as OJ he did dat shit I was convinced after the if I would have did it book. May he burn in the furthest depths of hell. LOL @ Suge gettin knocked into kingdom come thats for the years of fuckery. Who didn’t know blacks get far more harsh punishment than whites it’s so evident. Of course I mean I witnessed a white man get 1 month of Probation because he was from out of state for the same charge a black man got for 6 months probation for. We can’t do a damn thing about it just hope we don’t get caught. It’s fucked up but we as a people have been cursed since the slavery days.

What the hell on that OJ story. The author is probably going to be sued for defammation.
@7, a lawyer can do only his/her job and that is to give their client the best representation possible. Clients lie, prosecutors can sometimes half ass their goal of presenting the best evidence and in turn juries and judges do not look solely at the evidence presented.
I am a lawyer and I worked JC’s firm in the beginning of my career, he was a brillant attorney who did his job. In my personal opinion what happened in that trial had nothing to do with the law. The Simpson trial was about America’s judicial system and how race plays apart in the outcome. The verdict was just a part of the truth. As Condi Rice said America suffers from a birth defect when it comes to discussions and attitudes regarding race.
As for the drug/crime study, tell me something I do not already know, however, we know the bricks are stacked against us so why do we continue to play the game. Drugs have never led anyone any where but jail and death. The story doesnt change just the name in the by line so we have to do better and stop waiting for America to change because it will not. We must not succum to the b.s. period.

” a black man is 12 times more likely to be sent to prison for a drug offense than a white man and a black woman, five times more likely than a white woman.”
You see this why I don’t believe in statistics. You telling me that white women are dealing more drugs than white men? Please that is ludicrous! Where do they think the women get the drugs from? I have yet heard a white female drug kingpin. These drugs come from the suburbs and yet when they finally do drug bust in the burbs, the people their are so shocked, like the it unthinkable.
Now with the whole police brutality thing, those 3 idiots brought this on themselves. If they hadn’t ran they wouldn’t of got the beat down. Plus I don’t think this was racially motivated. I KNOW Y’ALL ARE GOING TO PROBABLY BITE MY HEAD OFF FOR THIS, BUT PLEASE ONE AT A TIME. LOL. Think about it if you was the police officers and you are on this pursuit with these guys. You are not only risking your life, but, your partners life and the lives of all the innocent drivers that are on the street and possible pedestrians. Plus you think these guys attempt to kill to someone too. When you finally do get a hold of them even though they are handcuffed, you might still be pissed off because you had chase them and you risked your life and others in the pursuit. DISCLAIMER: IN NO WAY AM I CONDONING WHAT THE OFFICERS DID IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM. All I’m saying is that I can some what, some what, understand the beat down. Yet I bet that people that come on this blog is going to paint them as innocent victims.
Back to the more black men doing more crime. Now J.Dakar you ask what are we going to do about this? Really there isn’t anything “we” can do. We individually have to do for ourselves and make sure we don’t become apart of that statistic. There are some that are going to act right, then it’s some that’s not going to act right. The music and the culture is helping with deterioration of our community. We glorify being a gangster, pimp, drug dealer, being a hoe( both male & female) even killing someone. Yet when someone wants to leave the city and live in the suburbs, a lot of black folks get offended. Like it’s the worst thing to do. SMH.
Now O.J. And Suge, I’m not surprised about either one of them.

Thanks Dakar for the shout out!
The sad part is what do we do now? This is not the first or the last time that police brutality was captured on video. If these officers are not prosecuted what will we say as a community. We cannot continue to let this happen without speaking out. Regardless of the alleged crimes committed by these three young men in no way are the police justified in their actions. Did anyone notice they were not resisting arrest once the car stopped yet they were repeatedly punched and kicked for several minutes. As I watched the video my heart just dropped. What are we to do….

yeah im not really suprised about the whole more black men being locked up. But yeah what do people plan to do about it, besides talk about it? I personally dont see any change coming any time soon (unfortunately).
And about those police officers… again not suprised. I mean this is the one time that they were caught on tape, what about the other countless amount of times when they just got away with stuff like this. I know alot of people (alot of black people) hate the police, but i really think that more black men (from the hood) should become police officers, to put a stop to this BS

Man here we go more police brutality. I dont care if they were in a car chase no one deserves a beating like that. I could almost understand it if they were resisting but they were laying on the ground. As a police officer it dosent matter what happened in the past you can let stress get to you to the point where your beating men with batons. At one point in the video one of the cops is beating the dude down and runs over to another one just so he can get some more hits in. an unjust cop is not a cop at all.

Yes it is sad that black men are more likely to get arrested than white men but im not going to rally behind them or anything like that because the fact remains that they shouldnt be selling drugs period! The shit is wrong no matter how you look at it. And instead of us fighting to get them equal treatment in jail we should be fighting to stop them from selling to our children, mothers and fathers! Sorry I went on and on but I feel people are fighting the wrong cause
As for O.J. I think he really wants to be in jail. That is why he keeps coming up with this Random shit about the murder. First if I did it this is how it would have been done Now he’s confessing shit to someone he knows is going to talk. Alot of killers dont like not getting credited for what they did. Ok, Im sorry but what black person doesnt know we live in a racist country? A country that is out to see many of us fail? Knowing that, why do people continue to commit crimes? You are a black man and you know that the system is out to get you why continue to put yourself in situations where you will be at the mercy of a racist criminal justice system? I only feel sorry for people who are wrongfully accused. If you find yourself facing a “too harsh” sentence for doing something you shouldnt have been doing in the first place then too bad for you.
And to OJ God will deliver your punishment if you are guilty, and it’ll be unimaginably worse than anything the US CJ system couldve done to you.

“So, what are we going to do about all this?”
We can start by raising our Black men to acting right. A statistic is merely a number and should not be something that Black men who commit crimes use to hide behind. I’m all about fair treatment but what bugs me about this story is what it’s highlighting. If these Black boys/men weren’t committing these crimes, there wouldn’t be statistics to speak of.
I totally agree that Blacks are often unfairly penalized for the same types of crimes that others committ. I also believe that our numbers will seem higher because we are disportionaltely affected by the system. However, I work in the criminal justice system and can tell you that all of these “drug related offenses” aren’t made up. They’re real. These boys are out here selling, distributing, trafficking and using. So instead of making excuses as to the alarming numbers, Black communities as a whole need to get to the bottom of the matter. There is no single solution but let’s start somewhere.
1) Successful Balck men (however you want to define your success - be it a successful garbage man or CEO) need to become more involved and mentor these youth. No, you’re not going to reach every single person. But at least try. Only a man can teach a boy how to be a MAN. So, if it means just spending a few hours a week hanging out with a youngin, then that’s what needs to be done. You never know what impact you can have on a person or how one statement or moment can change their life.
2) Stop acting like our black babies atre throw aways. No child asks to be brought into the world so it’s ultimately the mother’s and father’s responsibility to make sure that they create a decent life for that child. Women, quit having babies if you can’t raise them right. Men, stop making babies if you can’t raise them right.
3) As a community, Blacks have really become so uninvolved that it’s like we’re wearing blinders. I can’t tell you how many times I see a young person acting out in public and watch an entire group sit back and do or say nothing. We might just have to get back to the point where we get all up in somebody’s business and call someone on their bullshit. If a young boy is acting a fool in public, an elder should take some initiative and say something. I’m not suggesting to do this to your own detriment orbut start with someone who’s nine or ten. We gotta get them while they’re young.

#13. What do those statistics have to do with racism?!
Please inform me. Because last time I checked, the white man didn’t make those young black men stand on the corner, trying to make a quick buck. That was their own decision. If we weren’t stupid enough to do the shit, we wouldn’t be in this mess. We need to take responsiblity for our own actions, stop chasing the fast cash…and in the end we wont be as susceptible to being apart of someone’s damn statistic.

Why everything have to be base on race? When the truth of the matter is it’s about choices. I’m black and was homeless at 14 years old. I never committed any crimes or sold drugs. There was other positive choices. I beleive that a lot of african american men and women that choose to sell or commit petty crimes would rather take the easy rode compare to hard work, and that hard work might have to be macdonalds, wendy’s, waiter, laundry helper, janitor I did it all and completed three college degrees. I do not believe that race is always the signifcant factor. If we were in the 60’s or 70’s yeah but in the 80’s 90′ and 2000 I’m not buying the race card…it’s about choices.

Police brutality… I’m just going to speak factually…
One of the boys is my cousin…no crime rap sheet, never EVER been in trouble, is an overall good boy. Has been around the WORLD with his father and has an education. NOT your typical criminal huh? Now had these same accusations been set upon some other family members I have… I would believe it.
Fact 2… they were not resisting arrest
Fact 3… NO guns were found and the shooter “mysteriously” got away
Fact 4… Noth Philly, 4 guys, one gun, approach a drug corner with 3 guys that had no gun? What were the other 2 doing? Waiting to get shot? NOT realistic in the real life hood.
Fact 5…. Shooting victim said there were not 4 guys who approached and shot him and they did NOT pull up in a gold car…He stated it was ONE guy.
Fact 6…. Police brutality is so prevalant in our Hoods across America, even if they stopped right away, given the mood of the city because of the cop killing that previous Saturday, they would have still recieved the same treatment. What would you do if you had 8 police cars chasing you knowing the temperment of the police department in Philly?
Its brewing Folks…its brewing

hmm @ stats our judicial system is a lot to be desired. Statisically speaking the media wanted to remind us during this time we are protestingagainst police brutality that black folks are criminals just look at the “stats”? Are they reminding us that the fight against any police injustices are futile because “statiscally” blacks and black men are just criminals anyway so why waste time protesting?
aaaaaaaaaaaah Suge “got knocked the fcuk out” lmao….
Oh and the video almost brought me to tears. I don’t care what those boys did, the police snatched them from the car and brutally, kicked and beat them EXCESSIVELY. One cop even walked around the group so he could get in a few kicks… I don’t care if they had to chase them to another country there was no need for the type of brutality I just witnessed. I can’t tell if any of the cops are black or white all I see is an excessive beat down with three men face down on the ground NOT face up resisting arrest.
Whateva @ OJ. I don’t believe anyone coming out of the woodwork saying “OJ confessed”. Especially a guy who wrote a book and is trying to profit I mean what else would he write but “OJ did it” “OJ confessed to my random arse”

So what should be done about it? Well, firstly,it starts in the home. Lack of a father figure,no role models, low self-esteem. I could go on. But many have overcame these obstacles and became successful thereafter. We can’t point finger s an blame white people. We are responsible for our own actions.Perhaps, black families need to listen to each other more and communicate more. The dinner tables are too silent and there’s no telling what may be in the thoughts of a child’s/parents mind. Then again, maybe black families should say,”I love you” more to their children, other siblings.A race divided will fall.

One more thing, what is so cool about being a “thug”, “hoochie”, “player?” Absolutely nothing. Too many times, I have seen black families praise a child when he or she can dance, carry a tune while singing their favorite songs. But dismissing the child when he/she is getting good grades, honors, creative awards, etc. Not even the children’s surroundings can influence his/her life as much as an uncaring parent. I am not saying all black families are like this. I am only speaking from what I have seen.

Well from reading the comments under this post it seems to me that blacks are very divided concerning issues that affect black people under the law. I will say it like this many black men sell drugs because they want to live out the American dream of power, wealth, and prestige however they do it deviantly, Alot of these black men feel that there isn’t a place for them in America so selling drugs and getting fast money is the closest way to live out a wealthy lifestyle. Where did these black men get this logic from? They got from other black people that teach them this bullshit. You can still adopt power, wealth, and pretiege by making money the right way, We as black people need to re-teach and re-educate our youth because feeding this negativity is not going to decrease those statistics of black men going to jail. Let’s not forget that racism is not non-existent of today because these circuit judicial court systems can be unjust due to the judges who are white knowing and being acquainted to the criminal. It’s all about who you know. White people look after they own period. Is it predjudice? yes indeed. My grandfather told me that if you play a man’s game you are desgin to fail because the man created the game and most likely if not all the time he will win. We need to stop falling for this game or else black people will stay failing,

LOL.. the drug thing reminds me about Chris Rock’s stand-up. The only reason why drugs — marijuana, cocaine — are illegal in the United States is because they come from “brown” countries! Tobacco and all of these prescription drugs administered by the FDA are just as harmful. In fact, aren’t there reports saying tobacco is more addictive than marijuana? In any case, the only reason why tobacco is legalized is because it’s from here and YTs made a killing off of serving that mess up. WHITE PPL JUST DONT WANNA SEE BROWN PPL COME UP. Damn near NO ONE in this country came up on wealth from all good sources… There was always the start of some ill fucked up mess (i.e. slavery) that was harmful to somebody and made pockets richer.

And iono bout you, but that makes no sense to me… throwing a crack addict in jail for doing what their sickness enables them to do — smoke crack! They don’t need to be penalized for it, they need to be helped, remedied, and then some so they may be able to rehabilitate and enter society as a productive person.

What I would like to know is why aren’t more Black leaders or black men of some sort of power stepping up to speak about what is going on with our youth. Are they too afraid of not being endorced by certain corporations or sponcers? Why does it seem like Al Sharpton is the only voice for our people. Some are quick to judge him but without his voice and message of hope who could we look to for encouragement.

The report that “found that blacks are arrested and imprisoned for drug-related crimes at a much higher rate than whites” is not new it was reported some years ago. Truthfully speaking, I don’t trust this stats of course there are more black males imprisoned than there are white males but according to this research studies blacks are always on the lowest totem pole.
The issue of police brutality is an ongoing situation, it is truly sad. Hopefully they don’t get away with it but I would not be surprised if they did.

The answer to “what we’re going to do about this” is the same answer that it’s always been, which is nothing, because our people refuse to acknowledge the source of the issues instead of the effect. The source has nothing to do with the black man being excessively lazy or unambitious according to the superficial definitions of this society. The black man’s laziness is mental and spiritual and it has to do with the aspects of this society that are purposefully constructed against his mind. Many black women are quick to point the finger at the black male but the fact of the matter is that this generation of young, lost black males is the product of the single parent, black female household. The sisters cannot continue to take credit for the good while passing the buck on the bad seeds that they cultivate. The black community, and the black male particularly, was never known for single-parent households and the problems that ensue from those households until post-civil rights movement, the advancement of the black woman in corporate America, and the subsequent displacement and disenfranchisement of the black male. It forced blacks to have to appeal to whites for job opportunities because integration at large dried up all black owned businesses. That is irrefutable. The attack has always been on the black home and it will continue to be. Once the family unit is dissolved the people are left to look to the state to raise their children and establish morality, hence the children are raised by the TV and the morales of society because the parent or both parents are at work. This is why the television is now used to glorify homosexuality, vanity, and the “thug and gangsta bitch image”.
The question begs to be asked in this day and age of female glorification, that when the black male does step forward to take control of the black community, will the same black women that clamor for the black man to “stop making excuses” step back and allow the black man to do his thing or will they do what they’ve done for the past 40 years which is attempt to use the power given them by this society to make the black man what they feel he should be as opposed to what he is and what the Lord wants him to be? This is the crux of why these young black males are out of their minds and will continue to seek camraderie in the gang lifestyle because they feel unwelcome everywhere else. The conduct and commentary of many sisters has made it clear that they subscribe to the tenets of white America; that being that the black male must be perfect while everyone else is judged and penalized according to the laws of the land. This O.J. Simpson nonsense is an excellent example of that. These devils have murdered countless of unarmed blacks, hispanics, and Native Americans up to this very day and want everyone to “move on” but they continue to drag out this O.J. Simpson saga. It’s been almost 15 years and white people and the house ni**ers that love them are still irate that one black man escaped incarceration. The justification for these black men getting their asses whooped by the 15 pigs or the Sean Bell exoneration is that they committed crimes or were associated with negativity. Where in the law does it justify a man getting shot at 50 times or his head stomped in by law enforcement? I thought they were just supposed to be arrested and detained until they were brought before a judge? Either one believes in the laws of the land or they don’t.
Many sisters feel that they must conduct themselves in a denigratory attitude towards the black man and co-sign with society’s views towards him because they feel like they have too much to lose in the process of showing solidarity with the men of their own race. Many sisters see the writing on the wall that all systems of America: penal, judicial, and law-enforcement are stacked against the black male, he has become a virtual pariah, and they would like to jump ship but they cannot because they’re black themselves. Their only recourse is to berate the black male with accusations that he’s not trying hard enough or that racism is a figment of his imagination, which also leads to the rebellious mentality that many lost brothers have. We cannot change reality until reality is addressed. In addition to that, a separation has to be made between an attack on societal constructs as opposed to an attack on any specific demographic because my issue is not with any one group as much as it is those that subscribe to this media-fueled mind control nonsense.
In regards to the black male, the main thing that the few brothers that have their sanity need to do in my opinion is train their minds so that they know how to retort those that will unerringly come against them when they start to do what society claims they want the black male to do. The mental training will start with the spiritual understanding and re-connection that the Most High and Christ will bring back to our people in accord with the true history of our people according to the scriptures. The majority of brothers are lost and will become virtual slaves in the penal system or succumb to the pressures of this society. Whites and many blacks (especially sisters) are quick to address what black men do to each other, but when black males show unity or solidarity, this country has always shown that they will do their absolute best to dissolve that unity or solidarity, (to the point of enacting laws against black males standing together in groups).

Black Commit… “Okay…So, what are we going to do about all this? It’s not like we didn’t already know this!” EXACTLY!
Suge Knight… you can take them out the the streets, but you can’t take the streets out of them. Why isn’t he locked up for life, for all the people he’s hurt?
OJ…I don’t know what to say, other than only the people involved really know what happened and they will have a higher power to answer to when their time comes. Not to mention KARMA IS A BITCH!!! and know matter, they will get it back. Do not think for one minute that anyone gets away with taking a life.

AND WE DIDN”T KNOW THIS?
First off, we all know that your skin color plays a part in how much time you do…. Half the black man locked up on drug charges should have been freed by now…Black man AND Black women are the highest among race to be locked up.. Hence why you have a lot of black children in foster homes… But, now it’s starting to back fire among white people because they realized that there are too many of ‘us’ locked up in prison… in some parts of Texas there is only one to two people to guard a (smaller) prison.. Lot of people do not want to work as security in the prisons which is way many people in congress is trying to lessen the time for people on drug charges (mainly African Americans)
What can we do about it…. Speak out against it… become a police officer; get into law, educate yourself and others of the discrimination of the law when it applies to a person of color… Speak to young and old persons of what’s going on and how you and they can change the cycle; it may take a moment for the person to understand you are trying to help educate them, but GOD doesn’t always answer your call the first time (think about it).
If we find the ‘Medium’ with each other, people from inside the system and outside the system can be a FORCE to be reckoned with.

DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
First, I went to school with a cool guy named Marion and I use to tease him and said his mama must have been watching ‘ Cobra’ when she came up with your name. Suge Knight doesn’t get a lot of respect from people.. I think people forget that The Greatest rapper of all time was able to express himself b/c of Suge. Suge Knight got a lot of ‘S*&#’ from people b/c of the music his artists were allowed to do with his record label. Yea, he got knocked out, but he got back up. Didn’t snitch on the ‘petty’ fight and probably told the person, You got this one but round 2 is on me.
ARE WE CONFUSED?
I personally do not believe OJ did it…and IF he did commit murder how many times was murder done onto ‘us’? Michael Bell anyone? What about Megan Williams (might not have been murder, but she still justice wasn’t given to her) Carmen Williams, Megan’s mother, expressed frustration that they had not received life sentences, which is the maximum penalty for kidnapping (AND raping her daughter).. if it were black men and women you better believe they would have gotten life sentences. So, IF OJ Simpson did it (which he will face judgement on his day with God) why the outcry? The jury proved him to innocent, based on the EVIDENCE, I’ve seen and heard black man get put away for far less crime with little or no evidence at all. Why not the outcry for them? My uncle ( an Italian) one told us at a breakfast at Denny’s when the OJ Simpson trial was going on, “ You all know he did it, right?” My sister and Aunt was in the restroom, My eldest brother Micheal said (a graduate from Wiley College by the way) “Well, if he did do it, its one us and about.. lets say over million to ya’ll”.

People are acting like there isn’t mentoring inner city kids foundations around. There’s plenty of them. So the whole we need to mentor our children thing is ridiculous. It’s b.s. too about that whole “it takes a villabe to raise a child” . There are two types of people that are in the world. The good people who try their best to do what is right and just. Then there’s the bad people who don’t care about how there actions and conduct affect people. There are more bad people in the world then there are good people. That’s the sad truth wheter you agree with it or not. So talking to someone till your blue in the face isn’t going to work. Sure it work for some, but let’s be honest, people including kids are going to do what they want to do. So you can’t feel accountable or feel like you let the community down. We all are accountable for actions. We need to stop worrying about what other people are doing and are thinking and take care of ourselves. 9 out of 10 there’s problem in our own lives that we don’t address and yet woorying about what other people are doing.

The police beating did look a bit excessive. However, that happened the same time all of Philly was looking for the suspect that killed a cop 2 days before his birthday.
Im not trying to justify their actions. What the cops did was wrong but being as though all of Philly was on edge looking for that cop killer, I could understand why they reacted in such a way.
People have to understand that killing cops in Philly is slowly becoming a fad…If I was a cop, I would take no chances when it comes to my life.
Im sorry but I don’t feel pity for the the dudes. The parents came on t.v. saying how there “children” are good people, and they shouldn’t have been treated like that…meanwhile they was all convicted of past crimes. So people like that, I have no sympathy for. SORRY

Judah,
I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said. However, I wonder why you always seem to put the greatest emphasis on the Black woman and her role when it comes to the denigration of the Black male in American society? What responsibility does the Black man have? What responsibility should he take?
You put a lot of the onus on the Black woman and her alignment with the White man; saying that it has led to the demise of the Black male and his power structure. But doesn’t that theory in itself bring forth the possible truth that the Black man has really just become (or is) weak? How does one who claims to wield so much power, God-given power in fact, allow the “fairer” sex to be the cause of his demise or the greatest contributing factor?
Yes, in all fairness Black men have faced challenges that no other race brought to America has. But Black women were right there on that ship next to them. So it seems to me that while you should point one finger at the Balck woman, you should point four fingers back at the Black man for contribution to his own demise. Like I said, I’m not disagreeing with your point of view. All stated points make sense to me. Just remember that there are two sides to every story.
While the government was incentivizing single parent households through welfare and other social programs, I don’t recall any rallies or “solidarity showings” from Black men in our communities (please correct me if I’m wrong on that). The Black man has never had it easy but the Black woman is not the sole cause of that. And ironically, by pointing out the level of power that sisters wield, you further underscore the Black man’s loss of control over himself and his household.

@29 Redbone>>>I have to disagree. The most powerful lessons are those learned from examples. The same sex parent is a powerful example to a child. I’ve notice that many children w/o GOOD fathers, suffer. I don’t have stats to back it up, but I’ve seen it in my own family and others. In the real world, it would be great if children were raised with their father’s in the home, but unfortunately, that’s not always the case (especially in the black community). This is no indictment against single mothers (I was raised by a divorced mother), but I believe a child deserve two parents. Children usually mimick what they see. If a boy has a good father, he learns how to be a good man by how his father treats his mother and how he conducts himself. I’m just saying.
As far as Suge is concerned, he needs to grow up. He’s too old to act a fool like this.

@73 I don’t remembering typing anywhere that a child doesn’t need both parents in their life.I agree children do mimick what they see, but just because you’re father is a good man doesn’t mean you are going follow his lead, and just because your son doesn’t act right doesn’t make you a bad father or lesser of a man. That’s what I was saying. So like I said it’s something that you yourself have to figure out. Because alot people have alot of different opinions in what a man is.One thing about being man is making decisons and choices on your own. You can’t be doing that if your following your dad’s footsteps. I agree with what you said though.

more black men are going to jail because the majority of black parents are a total failure, black people will justify anything and everything even things that cant be justified, i dont believe race has anything to do with it, why? because i`m a black man myself i have never been on drugs one day in my life, i have never sold drugs one day in my life, i have never had a misdemeanor or let alone a felony in my background why? because i was raised not to look for trouble, i was raised to learn how to respect not only the laws but people in general, i was raised to learn to make the difference between what is wrong and what is right, the absolute majority of those good-for-nothing negroes deserve to spend the rest of their damn lives in penitentiaries, white people are not the ones asking motherfuckers to spend the day on street corners selling poison so they can wear $250 sneakers, nothing wrong with sneakers that expensive but just dont do something unlawful to get ahead, every other day burger king, macdonalds, wendy`s, popeyes, kfc are hiring but no! these idiots would rather smoke weed and drop school or just become society-reject than to struggle and live a law abiding life,
to those of you running your mouths about te absence of male figures for these men, you`re just a bunch of morons and part of the problem, because a child can be raised very well by a single father or mother, even if in the first place it has been designed for 2 parents to raise a kid, as far as i`m concerned i have done every kind of jobs you can think before getting to the point where i am now! i have been a busser, barback, dishwasher, you name it but guess what? i have my freedom and i have my peace, we`re not in the 50s so please sqave the race card for yourselves, black female teeenagers are walking around the streets with babies at 14,15,16,17 how is it white peoples fault? black kids in this country are very rude, very impolite, very ignorant they`re just so badly brought and they think thats the norm, when they realise its not, its probably too late, in this country once you have a felony in your background well its a wrap………chances of ever having a decent job are next to none

I agree with #70. Honestly, they have a shady past and they were suspects the cops saw at the shotting. I live around the area where the cop killer was shot a couple of days earlier and it was crazy that day. I don’t blame them for being on edge considering the officer was shot while leaving his car (per reports). If it were the run of the mill, everyday thing that happened then yes I would see why people are outraged but given the fact that the one guy supposedly looked like a suspect, I could see why they are on edge.
I do think it was a bit excessive but all suspects have a criminal past so it’s not they were exactly saints like people are claiming them to be. What about the shooting victims? The guys may have not been the shooter but they are just as guilty if they are the people who were there.
There is so much scrutiny on what a cop can and can not do and then you have media outlets cutting and pasting information. If the officer in the above mentioned case, shot at the suspect before anything he would have gotten criticized but he didn’t and now he is dead. Just putting out a different perspective.

yeah ! i also have to agree with the brotha that stated that sistas are a failure at raising kids, because the majority of these black men come single parent household headed by their black mothers, so the good thing to do is black women just need to acknowledge their failures as well for not giving these kids the moral and spiritual foundation they need to be “men“
its always about absence of male figure this, absense of male figure that, i swear i have never seen a black woman taking responsibility for her actions, its alwyas somebody fault and this is why black women are probably the only women in american who become grandmothers even before they reach 4o yrs old! what excuse do you have? lets not go far, i`m sure among the female who blog on this site a good number of them were mothers by their teens, those who are not probably have kids with good-for-nothing negros based on the choices that they themselves made but who is taking the heat? black men as usual.White america already has an obsession with black men then black women have jumpted ship(nothing suprising there), the only time some of you( sistas) pretend to have any interest in black men is when some of them become successful by american standards, because in america when white people have a problem,……..black women jump ship so its like many of you are so desperate for recognition that you will sell your own just so you can “fit“, i have volunteered at some soup kitchens and i have met black men who asre homeless because they`re paying child support…………..hello ! but tomorrow when these kids fail guess who will be blamed black men ! i went to school white kids who in their majority were raised by their single parent white mothers but why dont they end up in jail like black kids raised by their black mothers? how many white women do you know of or hear running their mouths about white men this or white men that, the funny thing is when the minority of black men who make it succeed in doing so, their black mothers are all over the place they want to take all the credit even in reality they didnt do much for that kid
man its hard, to all the positive brothas out there just keep your heads up

Im surprised nobody has responded to number 9’s response. Look obviously you would think the police had a “right” to beat those three people after a chase because you didnt read the stats right. The stats did not say that white women deal more than white males! It just says that those that do get caught under the law, black men and women are more likely to be found guilty. Back to the beating, it is innocent until proven guilty. Their goal is to get a hold of the men and arrest them…and NOT beat them to their discretion because they put their lives in danger.

@BREAK IT DOWN, obviously you didn’t read my post with comprehension. Second what does the police brutality have to do with the above statistic. Your not making any sense. Please just stop. Nowhere in my comment did I said that I condone what those officers did. In fact I even typed a disclaimer in with caps saying I didn’t so please quick trying to tell me what I’m thinking. All I said giving the circumstances of what was going on, I can some what see why they beat the men, I didn’t say I agree with it, but I can some what understand it. That whole innocent until proven guilty is a bunch of crap and you and I both know it. If hadn’t they have ran, been involved in a shoot-out, have a shady pass that the police knew about, none of this would have now would it?
It’s funny how some of y’all are starting to point the finger at the black man or the black woman. When both are the blame equally. Black people want to use the white man and the system as to why things are so messed up.” This system isn’t made for us.” You know what it doesn’t matter because if you do what you have to then you wouldn’t have to worry about it. The government(Now that is because they probably did back in the day) don’t just randomly pick a black man or black woman or any race for that matter to go to jail. No, the people get caught doing something wrong and they get arrested and are sent to the courts. Now here’s where the racism comes in. True a black man might get a harsher judgement than a white man, it don’t happen all the time but it does happen. But doesn’t that person still have his own self to blame? I mean if hadn’t done what he did in the place then he wouldn’t have been in that situation in the first place. Look you can’t look for perfect government when it’s run by imperfect people and that the truth. There’s always going to be injustices. Just make sure your doing everything you can do so that you don’t have to be put in that situaution. You are in control of your own actions no one else is. Like someone else said let’s pay more attention to the good things .

As much as we don’t want to admit, the cold truth is we do commit more crimes than any other race. It’s just sad how dead beat black parents don’t nature their kids and they grow up to be low lifes mugging and sticking up innocent people even for a nickel or even killing for a nickel. We really need to get involve in our kids lives and educate them about what to do and what not to do. It’s just pathetic. Even if you go to the market a few doors down the street, black senior citizens will act a fool and immature more than any other race.

@Ms Mac
I’ve always addressed the weakness of the black male but people read everything and retain what they want. I’ve had numerous debates on this site with effeminate black males and I’ve dealt with them accordingly. The black man will always be the lynchpin but the fact of the matter is that America is predicated off of a strongly feminine vibration which needs to be addressed. You cannot deal with the black man and his issues until we analyze that fact. You can’t catch fish if you don’t know which way the stream is flowing. This is why I SPECIFIED that my issue was not with one demographic but with the purposeful societal construct because I anticipated a response like yours. This is a extremely deep issue which cannot be resolved with simple black male mentorship because there is no gurantee that a “working” black male is qualified to be a mentor. The children can’t be taught until the adults are re-taught because contrary to what many black college and graduate school alumni believe, the majority of them don’t really know a damn thing (Heb 5:12-14). Once again, that subscribes to the societal view, held by many sisters, that a black male with a job is automatically “successful” and thus qualified. Legal employment is integral and duly noted but it is a branch, not a root. Many sisters stress it to the point where it’s obvious that it is the prime mover. In my opinion, the fact of the matter is that many sisters feel that they are completely above reproach so when their laundry is aired out to even a percentage of the degree that the black males’ dirty laundry is aired out, the response is usually incredulity that 1) a black male has enough of a thought process to see what’s going on 2) that he would dare address the black woman or the white establishment when his “shit ain’t straight”.
Everything that I think and say is through the prism of the Lord’s Word and I know for a fact that the things that people say, particularly in regards to the condition of blacks in America, is through the prism of putting hope in the future of America. Thusly our outlook and plans will be diametrically opposed. I don’t speak in “theories” because they are speculative and subscribe to the vanities of people. The scriptures speak expressly, in all honesty, that the sisters are against black men and against the order stipulated by the Most High (Ecc 7:26, Isaiah 4:1-4, Micah 7:10, etc.). The goal of the sisters and black people in general, from what I can glean, is this strange fantasy where both black men and women take over American politics and corporate America, essentially taking the place of caucasians (proving that whites are the idols of black people in America). Please correct me if I’m wrong because if the goal is to be equal, it’s not going to get any better than it is because according to the laws of the land, blacks are already equal so I have no idea what our people are shooting for. No two things are equal in the universe so it’s obvious that the doctrine of “equality”, which is an offshoot of socialism, was contrived to seduce the simple and the disenfranchised.
In regards to the “fairer sex” the scriptures tell us that everything that is written aforetime is written for our learning (Rom 15:4). When you read Genesis 3rd chapter, it’s clear that Satan is dealing with the woman at a higher level and that she is in turn used to seduce the male. Our people fell into slavery on the slaveships because they refused to keep the laws of God (Deut 28:68, Isaiah 5:13). The black male has fallen because for any people to fall, the men must fall because the Lord deals with the men (Prov 8:4). From antiquity, to destroy a people you destroy the young boys (Exodus 1:16,22). The same men that are worshipped by many sisters, like Dr. King, were the ones that helped to disenfranchise the black male mentality by seducing blacks into a belief that white was better. In any society, if the women are in an elevated position over men, it is indicative of confusion and an adherence to satanic doctrines (Isa 3:12, Jeremiah 31:22). This is not “misogyny”, it’s predicated off of the Word. I hear sisters complaining about the “solidarity” of the black male but the fact of the matter is that the confusion that black men find themselves in allow women to exalt themselves and play both the victim, conqueror, and “savior” of the black community. This is why, since you brought up welfare and these other programs, one of the “incentives” of these programs is that there is no male in the household.

@81>>>Pete, you can talk all that shit all you want to, but after a certain age people have to take responsibility for THEIR OWN ACTIONS. Quit giving black men a pass. If you’re a grown ass man, it’s time to stop blaming mama for your issues. If men would quit hittin and leaving, maybe these black boys would be taught something. Grow the hell up! What about the successful brothas raised by black women? There are a lot of them, ya know? You obviously have a stick up your ass when it comes to sistahs and it’s so typical of someone of your ilk to blame the mother when his black ass couldn’t control his hard penis and decided to have sex. Get the heck outta here with that nonsense. I’m sick to black men like you who always want to blame the women. Yeah, I said it and I DON’T take it back.

Judah,
I won’t get into a back and forth with you because I know you got STAMINA. lol
Let me just quantify all of my points and address some of yours:
1) “Once again, that subscribes to the societal view, held by many sisters, that a black male with a job is automatically “successful” and thus qualified.”
I never said that success was solely based on the number of zeroes behind a paycheck or a college degree. I did say, specifically, however that a person should define their own success, whatever that is. This means that even if you don’t have a great job or earn a lot of money, the fact that you overcame some sort of challenge in your life (drugs, poverty, etc) is enough reason for another Black man to share that with a Black boy/man who may be able to benefit from that knowledge, experience, insight or wisdom. (Ahem, didn’t YOU just say something about people reading and retaining what they want? Geesh. lol)
2) “In my opinion, the fact of the matter is that many sisters feel that they are completely above reproach so when their laundry is aired out to even a percentage of the degree that the black males’ dirty laundry is aired out, the response is usually incredulity that 1) a black male has enough of a thought process to see what’s going on 2) that he would dare address the black woman or the white establishment when his “shit ain’t straight”.
The pot can’t call the kettle Black, especially when that pot is BURNT. Many sisters do act with incredulity when their shit is called on the carpet. However, why don’t we focus on the issue at hand. It’s not always as easy to put the mirror up to one’s own face and see the Devil within. So, the fact that a Black woman is quick to address a Black man’s flaw doesn’t make that man’s flaw any less real. And, being that you’re a Black man, instead of focusing on the fact that Black women are flawed, why not try holding up the mirror to your Brethren? If Black men have the thought process, USE IT. Stop going back and forth trying to convince us how much our shit stinks when yours is just as putrid. Instead, work on making your shit stink a little less.
3) “The goal of the sisters and black people in general, from what I can glean, is this strange fantasy where both black men and women take over American politics and corporate America, essentially taking the place of caucasians (proving that whites are the idols of black people in America). Please correct me if I’m wrong because if the goal is to be equal, it’s not going to get any better than it is because according to the laws of the land, blacks are already equal so I have no idea what our people are shooting for. No two things are equal in the universe so it’s obvious that the doctrine of “equality”, which is an offshoot of socialism, was contrived to seduce the simple and the disenfranchised..”
Interesting, I don’t seek “equality” because I know it’s an unattainable goal. What I seek is balance. There’s a difference. I’ve never believed that man and woman could be “equal”, and I certainly don’t think Blacks and Whites can be equal. I strive for a sense of understanding, as it relates to Black male/female relationships. Example: Understand that you (Black man) can’t successfully dictate what I (Black woman) do if you (Black man) haven’t established your own standards of which YOU adhere to. That whole ‘do as I say, not as I do’ is what has led to the destruction of the Black family to begin with. If a Black man doesn’t stand for anything or have a clear definition of who he is, wouldn’t it be foolish of me to follow behind him? Brothers and sisters need to understand their roles and act accordingly (however they define those roles for themselves). But I can’t be schooled by someone that has never been taught correctly. As far as taking the place of the Caucasian, I don’t seek that either. This is not the Black man’s land so that too is an unattainable goal. Anything we’re given is merely akin to throwing a dog a bone. I don’t fool myself with that so on this we can agree. NEXT.
4) “When you read Genesis 3rd chapter, it’s clear that Satan is dealing with the woman at a higher level and that she is in turn used to seduce the male.”
So, to be seduced, doesn’t one have to make themselves susceptible to seduction? And, if one allows themselves to be seduced, doesn’t that speak to one’s inability to remain strong? So what’s really good Judah? Are you saying that nothing is the Black man’s fault because he has been led astray and seduced by the Black woman? Are you serious? lol. I’m merely asking a simple question: When responsibility does the Black man have as it relates to the position he is in now? Does the Black man have any responsibility? I really don’t think you’ve answered that one pertinent question.
Not surprisingly, I didn’t expect you to see my point. But why should you? After all, I am a female and we all know how you feel about females (inherently temptress with low morals and Devilish tendencies, who goes the way of the White man). lol.
I have no problem learning and understanding a different point of view. It’s just a shame that you always think there’s only one correct point of view (yours). It’s always interesting reading what you have to say either way. I look forward to your response.
Peace

First, let me say that this very much have to do with RACE. How can you just dismiss this fact. We never here about black males in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, China and even Africa. Only in America, the failure of the black Americans, a targeting scheme to emphasize the hatred that is already embedded in RACISTS. Black Americans were used as test tubes for vaccination. Now their being used for prison, there is a big $$$$ for running prisons. I’m not contesting that the statistics aren’t true, it’s more or less a daily reminder for Blacks. You can look at several ways whether it be good or bad.
Second, I may sound offensive, but why do Blacks even stay in America after the evidence of hatred. Last, I think that integration was the biggest mistake of all black lives and we’ve become trapped in a system (government) that controls us. I know I may catch a lot heat for saying that but look at Haiti for example, they are not the richest country but they will not allow America try to run or govern them, Period.

AS FAR AS RACIAL ISSUES IS CONCERNED, THE LAST REALLY EFFECTIVE SOLUTION I CAUGHT A PIECE OF THIS YEAR THAT WOULD BEGIN TO BANDAGE OR BRIDGE THIS LIFE LONG DEVICE KNOWN AS RACISM, IS A DOCUMENTARY CALLED “MEETING DAVID WILSON” EVEN MORE EFFECTIVE IS THE PANEL DISCUSSION THAT AIRED ON MSNBC LAST MONTH ABOUT THE FILM. Blacks & Crime:
Like many you have said its nothing new in our community and its a shame that we know this and we’re not doing anything about it(myself included). Now i have a disagreement about the role of fathers. Now it would be nice if we could have fathers in the household but its not a part of our reality. I was mainly raised by my mother and grandmother; my father didn’t really have a hand in it especially when i was going through puberty…………….well the point is I turned out all right. I’m getting ready for my senior year of college, I don’t have a record of anything, and I take care of business. Everybody is pointing the finger instead of seeking out a solution to better EVERYBODY in our community. We are our greatest ally and enemy. Remember that. It’s funny how some feel they know the scriptures, yet they don’t actually get the sense of them so they throw the scriptures in whatever they feel that applies to subject at hand. It’s funny to me.
@82 nowhere did i condone the actions of the police officers. What does this have to do with the statistic above? Please just stop while your ahead. Obviously you didn’t read my comment with comprehension. all i said is that giving the circumstances, i can some what, i don’t agree with it, but i some what understand the beat down. had they not been invloved in a shoot-out, have a shady past that the police knew about, and ran from them, none of this would have happened now would it?
It’s funny how some are blaming the black man for our troubles than there are some who are blaming the black woman for our problems. I guess it never occured to anyone that maybe they are both to blame equally.people be killing with this whole white man conspiracy theory. yeah there’s racism but not every white person is a racist. let’s not forget it was a white man that freed the slaves. last time i checked the law doesn’t throw any ol’ body in jail no matter what is the color of their skin. ( Correct me if I’m wrong with some hard evidence) No is there racism in the courts, YEAH!! but then if that person obeyed the law they would’nt have to worry about that know would have? people want to blame everyone but themselves for their struggles, it’s really sad.

But I would love to see how some of you would handle the situation. everybody is right when they said they shouldn’t done that but they’re imperfect. y’all saying i don’t care what the person done, nut yet if this was your family member that was shot you probably want to kick their behinds. now again i’m not condoning all i’m saying is that it’s easy to judge someone elses actions.

its so sad that our young black men are continuously the targets of this country’s judicial system. Racial profiling and and blatant racism will always be a problem..those rates are not new, no matter how hard we try, we were dealt this hand a long time ago..a lot needs to be done, but we have to help ourselves evoke change, no one is gonna do it for us.

Well I think the reason we as black get arrested more then whites is because of the way the police department are set up. It is not a race thing it is a class thing. They view us a low class in the ghetto’s across this land. When our white peers do the same thing it is done in the Middle class area and police are not used to seeing such things go on. I work in law enforment but not as a cop so I see how they think and are trained to think. Now some may call this racist but I feel if you put yourself in an area where the police is looking for crime and you continue to do this you will go to jail. It’s funny the Latin jail % was not given…..I wonder why. Take care and I’m gone.

@Ms. Mac
Sis one thing that you have to realize, and many sisters don’t grasp this, is that it’s nothing personal. It’s all business.
1)When you look at what you quoted from me, you’ll see I said “many sisters”, not you, not all, so I don’t understand what counterpoint you’re trying to make about retaining what one reads unless you actually are one of those sisters I was referencing. The statements that I make are usually aimed towards our people, not an individual. The only black men that should be doing any mentoring are the one’s that can address the spiritual issues that our people have. This is why the children are jaded now. They tired of hearing the same idealistic bullsh*t from people that don’t really know what they’re talking about and can’t answer “why”. They’re left to fend for themselves and each other and develop their own life codes which metastasizes into gang culture.
2)It’s not that I don’t address the issues of black men. It’s that it’s not addressed to your liking or satisfaction which is irrelevant to me. This was my point about the salvation of our people having nothing to do with the plans of man or woman. When you see my original comment in post 61, you’ll see that in my last paragraph that I addressed what the black man has to do, the few that have their sanity. The Lord will not save all our people. Our salvation will not come how man or woman wants it. It will come how the Lord has stipulated it. This is why whenever a question is posed like the one that J.Dakar posed, everybody has some idealistic response that will NEVER come to fruition. No disrespect to you, but the reason why many sisters are detached from the black man spiritually is because a certain portion of this society has been allotted to cater to them. The sisters are still suffering, but not to the degree of the black man mentally and spiritually. These black men are literally out of their minds due to the constant affliction (Deut 28:28-34). The Lord’s indignation with the black man is being played out right now in this society believe it or not. It’s obvious that the black man must work to support his family and raise his kids and all the other banal things that others claim the black man doesn’t do and must do. The fact of the matter is that even the brothers that are upright are treated like feces and receive no respect so spare me (Ezek 5:14).
3)Sis, I’m not dictating a damn thing to you lol. I could care less how the sisters choose to conduct themselves because everyone will do what they want regardless. Many sisters are so paranoid that they will have to listen to a black male, which reveals their love of this society, that they concoct hurdles that the black man must attain to deserve the right to be listened to. Like I’ve already said, the majority of black men are not in their right minds, but honestly speaking, those are the men that many sisters gravitate to because spiritual and mental standards won’t be set. The sisters can be “free and liberated”.
4)Lol, that sounds like the white man when he says, “You people sold each other into slavery….don’t blame me.”. Once again sis, this is why the few sane black males must be taught the scriptures properly, like I alluded to in comment 61 so that he can combat ridiculous assertions like that. Once that happens they will have to teach the sisters and the children. Adam listening to Eve was necessary because through that, death was brought forth to mankind which necessitated the death and resurrection of Christ (I Cor 15:23-26, I Tim 2:12-15, Heb2:14). This was the point of showing Satan attempting to tempt Christ and Christ rejecting the temptation (Matt 4:1-11). He redeemed Adam’s weakness (Rom 5:14, I Cor 15:45). No disrespect to you, but the fact that you read the story of Adam and Eve and all you gleaned from that was to glorify Eve in consort with Satan and their ability to trick Adam, it says something about you sis. Never have I said that nothing is the black man’s fault, which seems to be a sticking point with you, and the story of Genesis illustrates that also. Note that even though Eve listened to Satan and seduced Adam, the Lord rebuked Adam (Gen 3:9-12,17).
Lastly sis, let’s establish that these thoughts are not mine, they’re the Lord’s (Jer 1:7-10, Ezek 3:8-11,27). It has nothing to do with you being a “devilish female”, lol (well maybe a little….). In all seriousness sis, most people that think that they have a problem with me and what I say actually have a problem with the Word of the Lord (Prov 13:13, I Thes 4:8, etc.).
@117
That’s right. They don’t mention the hispanics because they want the hispanics to believe that they are above blacks.
