Mildred Beaubrun, an 18-year-old student at Olympia High School was looking forward to graduation and nursing school.
Last Monday, she was shot after leaving Club Firestone in downtown Orlando. She and her friends had stopped at a 7-11 for gas and something to drink. Three or four men in a Chevrolet HHR also stopped and followed the young women as they left. “Hey, baby, what’s your phone number?” they called out. The men then began throwing items at the women’s Nissan Maxima and at one point, even swerved into the Maxima’s lane and tried to run the car off the road.
A shot was fired and the bullet struck Beaubrun, who was sitting in the back seat. She’s now lying unconscious at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Doctors aren’t sure that she’ll wake up or walk again.
Her mother, Mireille Jeanlouis, said, “I want them to catch these people who did that to my daughter. I don’t want them to do that to someone else.”
Police have released sketches of two suspects who were riding in the front seat of the HHR:

FOX NEWS SHOULD FIRE LIZ TROTTA?
Fox News contributor Liz Trotta has apologized for her remarks, but critics are calling for the network to fire her after she remarked that she wished somebody would assassinate presidential candidate Barack Obama. A petition for Fox News to sack Liz Trotta has been circulating and is less than 500 signatures away from its goal of 10,000.
KILPATRICK VETOES RESOLUTION
Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick vetoed a resolution by the City Council asking Gov. Jennifer Granholm to remove him from office.
In a 10-page letter to the governor, Kilpatrick warned that ousting an elected official is “irresponsible” and deprives voters of their rights. He also claimed that the City Council can only remove him if he’s convicted of a felony or “lacked qualifications” to serve in office.
The council may have to re-vote on its request to contact Granholm, and it’s unknown if they could garner six votes needed to override a veto. The group voted earlier this month to ask the governor to help get the mayor out of office.
According to Kilpatrick, doing so is “contrary to the board’s past actions to uphold home rule,” who faces numerous charges stemming from a text-message scandal with his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty.
Trotta needs to be out. That remark was ridiculous.
That lady should definitely be fired. That was no accident. That was worse than what Don Imus said. First she “accidently” said Osama instead of Obama. That was no accident. You could tell she was stuttering and then said Osama after a few seconds. In that time she should have realized she needed to say Obama. Then her saying “both of them would be fine…” was way out of line.

The incident with Mildred is so freakin upsetting. Sadly it is not uncommon. We as black women really get disrespected by SOME of our black men. As a resident of Orlando, Fl, this type of crime does not surprise me. I live in a upper middle class gated neighborhood and our house got broken into. My friend’s mom has a seven million dollar house and her house got broken into. It is getting really bad out here and I cant wait to move. My prayers go out to that girl. I don’t think Liz was suggesting or verbally saying she wishes for Obama to be assassinated, but saying that people are suggesting that the Hillary insinuated that with her recent statement. When she accidently said Osama, she then thought of the irony that people actually do want Osama dead. So she said “well both”…..She started the argument by denying that anyone assumed Hilary would be accused with the Kennedy comment.
