POLITICAL ROUNDUP: MICHELLE OBAMA ON IF SHE WERE FIRST LADY / VOTEBOTH ON OBAMA & CLINTON / LAWMAKERS SPEAK

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama has all but gained the Democratic nomination, (even Clinton supporters are calling it) and last week his wife, Michelle, hinted of what she’d do if she were to become first lady.

At a fund-raiser billed as a women’s “Power Lunch” for Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), Obama suggested she would take on women’s and family issues: “If I have the honor of becoming the next first lady, I want to continue these conversations like the ones I’ve had with these incredible women across the country. I want to ensure that their voices don’t get drowned out ever again in Washington.

Obama also recalled that while campaigning with her family last weekend, “At one point someone asked Malia, our older daughter, what she enjoyed most about the weekend and she said, ‘being with my dad,’ and it nearly broke my heart.”

VOTEBOTH

A group known as VoteBoth has been leading the charge for Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to team up on the Democratic ticket.

Although many have suggested that a joint ticket between the two is out of the question, VoteBoth asks, “Why stop at having a nominee who has the support of 51 percent of Democrats when we could have a ‘Dream Team’ ticket that has won 100 percent?

“If Barack Obama is the nominee and he takes Senator Clinton as his vice president, you’ve got a ticket that’s already won 100 percent of the Democratic vote, that’s turned out a record number of Democratic voters and that has shattered fundraising records. A unity ticket is the way Democrats win in November.”

LAWMAKERS SPEAK

Following the comment (and controversy) Sen. Hillary Clinton made last week, one of her most important supporters, Charles Rangel, said that was “the dumbest thing she could ever have said.”

The Harlem congressman acknowledged candidates had their respective strengths and weaknesses. “In any campaign, there are groups of people that you know that you have and groups of people that you don’t,” he said. “And I don’t care what it is. White, black, Catholic, Protestant — pollsters and newspaper reporters, that’s all they know, and so they keep asking the same question over and over. I mean, this happens in campaigns.” Nevertheless, he said “anyone with common sense or reason” would conclude Obama had already shown he could win over white voters.

Rangel’s disapproval with Clinton’s comments didn’t stop him from introducing her at a fundraiser where he told the crowd of 1,100 that talk of Clinton leaving the race was nonsense: “When in the world did a winner ever quit?” Rangel said. “We know Hillary Clinton. We have worked with Hillary Clinton, and we need Hillary Clinton now more than ever,” he said.

John Conyers, a key Obama supporter, said he is “very worried” that Hillary Clinton’s continued campaign will make it more difficult to unify the Democratic Party this fall. He told fellow supporters that the best way to end the nomination race is with kindness: “Here’s how we close this thing down early. We are going to be real nice to anybody who did not support Sen. Obama. Real nice. Super nice. It’s the most difficult thing one can do in the political system: Beat the crap out of your opponent, and then be nice and friendly after you do it.

Conyers refrained from commenting on Clinton’s remarks: “I haven’t heard it. I haven’t read it. Because I have to be nice to her. I just finished telling everyone that.

Michell Ombama would make a great first lady! But I don’t know if I trust Hillary Clinton as a vice president. If she will do any thing to get the pres. seat now, who’s to say that she won’t try her tricks in the white house? We need aobama and edwards ticket. This is our way to the safe white house victory! Are these politicians even watching this campaign? Like #6 said, the Clintons will say and do anything to win. I don’t think there is a sincere bone in either of their bodies. I am personally ashamed as a woman by the campaign that Hilary Clinton has been running. And the fact that she refuses to bow out gracefully just shows how shiesty she is. Did anyone see SNL on Saturday? Amy Pohler did a spoof of Ms. Clinton that was just tooo funny.

Obama for President! I would love for a strong, black woman to be our next first lady!

I wish people would stop talking about a “dream ticket” there is to much bad blood. There are Clinton supporters who wouldn’t support the tick if they were both on it, and there are Obama supporters who wouldn’t support the ticket if she were on it so stop the madness.

There are more qualified white women (that’s why they want her on there) to choose from. Hillary is not the only qualified ( I don’t think she is as qualified as others) women for the job.

Oh, one other thing I forgot…Never will Obama share a ticket with Hilary, and I don’t think it’s because his supporters wouldn’t stand for it, it’s just because like he said, he’s running for president, not vice president.

the clintons will say whatever to wi because obama will say whatever to win too, its politics dumb negros, you want to give obama but when the clintons speak, oh its a problem, i hope obama has enough political weapons for the general election because there is a writing on the wall that i can already but which is very hard for obama fanatics to see because you`re so cought up, all those comments clinton makes about race are not involuntary she knows what she`s doing! remenber i told you guys a couple of days ago that she might be preparing not to be the nominee and hence she is putting subtle words to let her supporters know they shouldnt vote for obama for obama come november and major polls show that if obama is the nominee clinton supporters will not vote for him and this guy cant afford to go to the general election without this electorate, the republicans will always be the smartest politicians in america , they know hillary was the strongest among all the democrats running for president and so they formed a dream team to destroy her, make obama the media darling and wait to devour him in the general election, black people watch! its about to be on , i hope some of you have resistant nerves cause your obama will get it and plenty of it !

And the scary thing poster # 6, is many Obama supporters don’t believe he does the same thing. All of a sudden he is NOW wearing the American Flag again…..why? He has NOW started covering his heart during the National Anthem…..why? He threw Jeremiah Wright under the bus knowing most of Black America agrees with the Reverend…..why? I could go on. He, like Hillary is willing to do anything to get elected.

A lot of people are going to be really disappointed when they realized Obama is more like EVERY OTHER politician than his supporters think he is.

Barack Obama has a lot of work to do because from what I am still hearing from Hillary supporters, including myself, there is practically zero enthusiasm about voting for him. The goal is to keep a Republican out of the White house so that is what will have me voting for him in November, but I can’t say the same for a lot of other Hillary supporters.

Let’s all use this time to be greatful and reflect on how good life is. World tragedies are all around us..Can we really waste time on hate. Let’s love everyone as GOD does, unconditionally.

May God contiune to use all of the candidates the way he sees fit.
GOD doesn’t need any of our permission to do what he wants,
when he wants, and through who he wants.

I am very proud of Obama. I believe that he will win the election. Hillary is too emotional. She gets easily offended and it shows in her comments and remarks about certain issues. She seems very menopausal and everyone knows we need a strong willed person to run this country. Hillary needs to step down and let Obama run the show because Lord knows we need change.

And I totally agree about the Republicans and Hillary. The Clintons are FIGHTERS, that is why Republicans HATE them so. They fight fire with DOUBLE fire and Republicans can’t stand it. They wanted Obama for the nominee because they got somethin’ for him between now and November. And Obama supporters crying that John McCain is being mean to Obama is not going to work like it did with Clinton. THIS IS POLITICS FOLKS. It is not a Kumba Ya game. She is not being a fighter now either, she is refusing to see the damn BIG A** WRITING ON THE WALL….ITS OVER!! Hillary is REALLY starting to annoy the f*ck out of me.

@23 You dont think Obama knows that about the Republicans? Do you honestly think him and his advisers and supporters dont know that the attacks are gonna be way more vicious? You sound as delusional as Hillary about her chances of winning the nod at this point. Oh by the way the Clintons are LIARS! Even her own supporters(as in politicians) are switching teams and these are people that actually KNOW her. If they felt that concerned about him not being able to win in the fall they wouldnt risk the chance of the Democratic party retaking the White House no matter what because in the end that is everyones goal.

Hillary and Bill are shellshocked that this young, black, unknown man came out of nowhere and absolutely stole the show. Her own campaign chairman said they thought the race would be over Super Tuesday February 5.

Totally Irritated

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 /

Try having a good attitude about all this when your vote ISN’T counting because of where you live!

1. I don’t support Obama. Don’t trust him. The only reason you have more dirt on Hillary to throw about is that she has been in the spotlight for years. Obama has been hiding out voting “Maybe” on issues. Just wait as more and more comes out about him. He has been caught in plenty of lies but his supporters blithely ignore them and continue bashing Hillary.

2. Just because I don’t support Obama DOES NOT make me racist. I’m sick and tired of hearing it. I have the right to vote for the candidate I think will do the best job and it is not him REGARDLESS of skin color. I don’t care if he is purple, I don’t believe he is the best candidate. So get over the racism comments - it is racists who are posting them - as if their lame insults will convince people to switch over to supporting Obama. NOT.

3. If Obama gets the nom and I choose to vote for someone other than him, it is NOT because I am a petulant child as inferred by some posts I have seen on different sites. It is because I am voting for the next best person to handle the MESS the current administration is leaving. After the screwing over and subsequent ignoring I have received from the DNC I do not feel any obligation to vote the party line for a candidate I do not believe in. And voting for who you think the best candidate is - that is what the election should be about.

So as you are reading this and getting ready to spew more hate on the Clintons, remember that when they left office, we have a budget SURPLUS that Bush promptly wiped out. We had an overall excellent international reputation. Overall standard of living in the US was higher. And in my opinion, it is between Hillary and Bill what they decided about their marriage - NOT the general public.

Obama 08!!

I don’t know why Hillary’s supporters are bitter, she is the one who ran the dirty campaign. She just lost. Obama tried to stay above the mud slinging tactics. If I was Obama I would not trust Hillary to be my vice president either, she is on her own agenda. She might try to sabotage him just so she can say, “I told you so”.

Hillary’s problem is she thought she was entitled to the presidency, that there would be no competition at all because of the Clinton’s history and conections in Washington. She just knew that she would have the support of all the black voters, after all did’nt some blacks proclaim Bill Clinton as our first black president ( not me). Well that, and along with her being a woman canidate, surly most women would support her.

What she did’nt anticipate was BARACK OBAMA!!!!!

@ # 33 -

You do realize not voting for the democrats (whomever the nominee will be) means voting republican and subjecting this country to 4 more years of DEBT and LIES, right? So while you’re accusing everyone of Clinton hate and you’re spewing Obama hate in the same breath. You do realize that don’t you? What you are in effect saying is that next to Hillary, McCain is the best person for the job, although he has no intentions of ending the war in Iraq, and really hasn’t said much else about the other very dire matters in this year’s election (GAS PRICES, HOUSING COSTS, Healthcare). Are you really that deaf, dumb, and blind?

And in response earlier to the comment about Obama wearing the American Flag on his Lapel and saluting the flag and throwing Jeremiah Wright under the bus, you must have forgotten, like someone else just mentioned, that he DOES have advisors. And nobody really cares about all that mess with Jeremiah Wright anyway. People should learn to let sleeping dogs lie. That was a ploy by the Clinton campaign that didn’t work.

#37, it is funny isn’t it? Well sad really. That’s what’s wrong with folks. Everybody needs to get their minds right.

IF THE MEDIA ARE ABLE TO GET OBAMA’S VOTERS TO STAY AT HOME, WITH THE FALSE SENSE THAT OBAMA HAS ALREADY WON, HILLARY WILL WALK OFF WITH THE NOMINATION, BECAUSE YOU BETTER BELIEVE THAT HILLARY IS TELLING HER SUPPORTERS TO GO OUT AND VOTE.

OBAMA SUPPORTERS, THIS RACE IS NOT DONE UNTIL ALL THE VOTING IN EVERY STATE IS DONE.

It’s sad that people are so afraid of any one different from them. You cut off your nose in-spite of your face and put GWB in the white house not once but twice; voting your fears not your aspirations. He has bankrupted every company he has ever ran and this country - look at the economic condition we (collectively) are currently in.

# 33 Totally Irritated – “remember that when they left office, we have a budget SURPLUS that Bush promptly wiped out. We had an overall excellent international reputation. Overall standard of living in the US was higher.” You would jeopardize the possibility of fiscal stability to more of the same?

When you hold on to your hate and your ignorance you fail yourselves and your future generations. The uneducated in masses are more harmful than the educated individuals. Are you that afraid that greatness may not look like you; having to face your inbreed ignorance while the world is watching.
# 19 pete – “the clintons will say whatever to wi because obama will say whatever to win too, its politics dumb negros, you want to give obama but when the clintons speak, oh its a problem,” You do not understand the white controlled media – and by your writing your brain waves are misfiring, I know you love seeing you comments in print.
In the 60’s we had a young man (JFK) run for president that was different than the status quo; because the tide was turning young Americans rallied around him and put him in office. The Kennedy family supports Obama, they see the same positive movement in the Obama candidacy that made this country great when JFK was president – “YES WE CAN” return this country to greatness but it will take us all, the question is “ Pete, are you willing to cut off your nose in-spite of your face”, are you so inferior and ignorant that the Obama candidacy destroys everything that you are when a MAN with African American heritage is running for president and will be the Democratic nominee and the next President of the United States. Change is moving with out you both, the voice of the people is loud and clear.

Totally Irrirated - What Clintons admirers choose not to look at is:

1. The Clintons did not ACTUALLY change the economy, they ONLY rode the DOT.com bubble. That’s why the unemployment and jobs increased, because banks (again) were spending money that they did not have. Please research.

2. Unless you forgot, the Clintons started this damned war in Iraq (Operation Desert Storm ring a bell). It was about oil with them too. Don’t be foolish. Which was probably why at the same time Clinton voted for the same Iraqis own US Ports.
