POLITICAL ROUNDUP: OBAMA’S LATEST MATERIAL / FIRST BLACK FEMALE SPEAKER
Wednesday, May 14, 2008
Analysts are suggesting that Sen. Barack Obama appeal to evangelicals to win Kentucky next week. According to a recent Rasmussen Report, Sen. Hillary Clinton is leading the state by twenty-five percentage points, 56 to 31. In preparation for Tuesday’s event, Obama’s campaign is distributing fliers that depict Obama in the pulpit with a cross overhead.
The flier recounts the day that Obama became a committed Christian: After graduating from Columbia University, Barack Obama moved to Chicago’s South Side to work as a community organizer in neighborhoods devastated by the closing of local steel mills.
Obama forged a profound connection with the people of these communities. At their encouragement, he visited a local church one Sunday. That day Obama felt a beckoning of the spirit and accepted Jesus Christ into his life.
The Obama campaign is also enduring some much less positive promotion. Mulligan’s Bar and Grill in Cobb County, Ga., is selling t-shirts with a picture of Curious George peeling a banana, with the words “Obama ‘08″ underneath.
According to the AJC, the bar’s owner, Mike Norman, acknowledged the imagery’s Jim Crow roots but said he sees nothing wrong with depicting a prominent black person as a monkey.
He said, “We’re not living in the (19)40’s. Look at him…the hairline, the ears — he looks just like Curious George.” A few months ago, a caller on the Rush Limbaugh Show referred to Obama as Curious George. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the publishing company that owns the Curious George image, says it is considering legal action to stop the sale of a T-shirt depicting Barack Obama as the monkey from children’s books.

Hey, please read the whole post, Thanks!
I’m a white guy that stumbled onto this site by accident and got really caught up reading the post and yawl’s comments about white people and what they think (or what you think they think) about black people. I see a whole lot of references to “rednecks”, “white trash”, “ignorant trailer trash”, “AmeriKKKa’s”, “degenerates”, Effin racist”, “fool” , (and my personal favorite ) “DEVIL’S OFFSPRING” all followed up with statements like “Caucasians DON’T like Blacks…
They simply TOLERATE us” and references to “Kill all of the white people.” And its makes me say, “Wow and white people are the racist?”
Look, I don’t like white trash and I don’t expect black people to like them either, I’d be disappointed in you if you did…I don’t like trailer trash, not that ALL people that live in trailers are trash, but you know what I mean when I say that just like I know what you mean. I don’t like hicks (nobody mentioned that one) and I don’t expect black people to like them either. But what makes white people angry is when black people say they don’t like certain white people but they get so upset when anything negative gets said about anyone who is black even if its true. So why can’t black people understand that white people don’t like “SOME” people that are black. We pretty much feel the same way that a lot of black people feel (go to You Tube and watch Chris Rock on racism). Why can’t we feel the same way about people that you do. Everybody dislikes people of other races for reasons other than their race. I learned from this site that black people don’t like the white “DEVIL’S OFFSPRING” for several reasons other than the color of their skin. Why can’t we have the same liberty? Why do white people have to like everyone, nobody else does. Oriental’s don’t like anybody, and had white slaves as late as the early 1800’s. The middle Easterners had white slaves from the 1500 thru the 1700’s and historically hate literally everyone. Mexican’s don’t like Orientals or Blacks. Blacks, as is evident from this site, don’t like white people but all you here about are the WHITE DEVIL’S OFFSPRING that don’t like blacks. “Yawn”
I was raised to respect my elders, regardless of race, culture or class level. If I’m approached by a bum on the street that is older than me I still address them as “sir” or “ma’am”. I believe that even if I dislike or disapprove of some one they are still entitled to my respect as a person until they do something intentionally to disrespect me.
There are a lot of people that truly HATE us all and we need to come together.
Make a difference …by being different …and pray for everyone. Obama can’t change a person the person has to let God change them. We make the changes not the government. The kind of changes the government wants to make are the ones we don’t want.
