POLITICS: NC, IN DEMOCRATIC PRIMARIES RECAP

The Associated Press reports that the Indiana Democratic Primary drew so many voters (more than 1.6 million) that some precincts ran out of ballots. A few precincts were even ordered to stay open an additional hour. North Carolina also enjoyed record turnout: more than half of all registered Democrats cast a ballot, exceeding 2 million.

“We now know who the Democratic nominee will be,” according to Tim Russert.

Barack Obama’s victory speech in N.C.

Following a win in N.C. on Tues., Sen. Barack Obama is within 200 delegates of securing the Democratic nomination.

Obama stated, “This primary season may not be over, but when it is, we will have to remember who we are as Democrats … because we all agree that at this defining moment in history — a moment when we’re facing two wars, an economy in turmoil, a planet in peril — we can’t afford to give John McCain the chance to serve out George Bush’s third term.”

Hillary Clinton’s victory speech in Ind.

Sen. Hillary Clinton won the Ind. Dem. primary, but reports have surfaced that she has loaned over $6 million to her campaign in the past month. During her victory speech, she asked her supporters to visit her website and contribute money.

Clinton called her win the tie-breaker (following her win in Pennsylvania and Obama’s in N.C.) and thanked the voters for their support. “It’s full speed ahead to the White House,” she added.

It is being reported, though, that former presidential candidate Gen. Wesley Clark, a Clinton supporter, called to tell her it’s over. Additionally, former Sen. George McGovern, who backed Clinton, urged her to drop out on Wednesday and announced plans to endorse Obama. Clinton, however, has vowed to continue fighting for the nomination.

  1. Its funny that she has to loan money to her campaign, but Barack Obama pulls in millions upon millions and doesn’t have to donate a dime of his own money.

His staying power is the driving force for him and he proved he can take on these dirty players.

    BARACK the vote! OBAMA 08

  2. GO HILIARY GO!

    Some food for thought:

Perhaps it is a strategy to keep Clinton in the campaign BY the Democratic Party!
Because Hiliary remains in the election, Clinton and Obama are ALL over the news…Hell I haven’t heard about McCain in about two weeks lol…seriously!…But come November the only name people will recall because of media saturation will be OBAMA!

This Hiliary things can play out many different ways!

Just saw in the news that Hillary thinks if she should win the demoocratic nomination that the black voters will come back and rally behind her…………………………NOT!!!!

You know Hillary “Pit bull” Clinton isn’t going to concede. She’s going to fight to the bitter end knowing that there is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks she is going to win! She’s even grasping at straws NOW wanting to count Michigan and Florida. Poor thang!

    N.C brought it home!!!!

    Obama ’08 all the way.

Kandiblack, I understand in essence what you are saying, but who thought Obama would get this far? I’m not counting him out. Also, even Repubs don’t want another 4 years of Bush policies.

I am done with Hilary. Her advice on voting for McCain over Obama spoke volumes. It shows that she has no loyalty to the Democratic Party. And she is the one that keeps bringing race into it. I think she is so two-faced. What is so special about McCain’s old crippled ass that he should be preferred over Barak? Barak is a Harvard Gradute. Any Black person with any degree from any college; any Black person with a nice home, etc has worked harder to get it than any White person. So if you would compare Barak to McCain or any White person his age with his credentials, trust me, Barak had to work harder to get it.

    @ Sassy T

I definetly think Obama has staying power…he has done tremendously well for an African American male and im proud of that…but im just afraid that he will be unprepared…i dont want America to get its hopes up and then be disappointed in the outcome

Obama aka curious george aka bush’s 9th cousin, and that Dyke Billary clinton are both pro war and controlled by the same people who control the bush crime family syndicate.

So far we have been voting for the white man and still our problems have not been addressed. We suffer in areas of employment, income, welfare, crime, education, family disintegration, birth illegitimacy, voting, and drug and among many others. We as black people in American have to work twice as hard to be considered half as good as our white counterparts. Don’t you believe it is time for a change? Since there seem to have been no real plans in recent history by society to solve our problem, don’t you think that only blacks can solve the problems facing blacks. The white man will not fix our problem just based on morality because he does not have the capacity or willingness to alleviate what are classified as black issues. We have to fix this problem ourselves and I believe that the solution can only come from a competent black man as president rather than a competent white man.

BIB, when did Hilary make that comment about voting for McCain over Obama?! I’m curious because if that is so, you’re so right about her not having any loyalty to the Democratic Party! If she cared so much about this country and the state we are in she would do what’s right!

    @ Dukesman2000

I feel u…but u still gotta remember…even though black americans (and a good number of white americans too) are supporting obama now…he has not made the democratic ballot YET…and when the time comes for him to run against McCain the real shit is gone hit the proverbial fan…mark my words…but still more power to him….like i said, i will still report him as a democrat…in all honserty i think it woulda been better for ms.clinton and mr. obama to be running mates…but of course thats just me
