Common has been cast in the next installment of the Terminator series, according to SOHH.
In Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, he’ll play a freedom fighter named Barnes who is defending the human race against a machine that aims to destroy it. The film is set to hit theaters May 2009.
Common will also appear in the June 27 film Wanted, along with Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie.
His eighth studio album, Invincible Summer, is expected to be released mid-July.
DMX CAUGHT SPEEDING
Earl Simmons, better known as rapper DMX, was arrested by Scottsdale, Ariz. police officers, three months after he was photographed speeding at over 100mph at three separate checkpoints.
Officers say DMX was speeding in a yellow 1966 Chevy Nova II with his name emblazoned across the windshield. He was charged with three counts of criminal speed, racing on a highway, reckless driving, two counts of endangerment and driving with a suspended license.
He was released on bail and officers say he is being “cooperative”.
PRINCE’S NEW PROJECT
Prince, who turns 50 next month, has been known by various names and is about to add another to the list: debut author.
He is currently working on 21 Nights, a multi-media volume based on his 21 consecutive sold-out concerts at London’s O2 arena during last summer.
The book will include poetry by Prince, photographs by Randee St. Nicholas who was given backstage access during the concerts and a live sessions CD from after-parties at the O2′s Indigo Club with new music by Prince. It will be released in September and the book’s cover will be “elegantly sealed in a purple slip case with foil stamping and then shrink-wrapped for protection,” according a statement from Atria, the book’s publisher.

Prince is one of the most prolific and accomplished artists of our time. I love that throughout his career he has stayed true to his vision (even when nobody else understands it). I love him.
Common is so wonderful. He is coming into his own as a well rounded performenr in everything that he touches. He too has evolved and I love watching his progression. I love him from Can I Borrow a Dollar until this very moment. I wish him all the success he so well deserves.
Judah, I am sure he doesn’t need defending, but if pursuing your dreams in spite of mainstream efforts to box you in and define you as ONE simple thing (be it a conscious rapper or whatever) is selling your soul…. then so be it. He hasn’t changed his message on wax so I am not understanding your point. Making art in film is not selling out even if you are portraying negative characters in some instances. People have layers, no one is ONLY one thing.

My comment has nothing to do with Common and his dreams. I don’t know what you’re referring to when you mention mainstream society’s attempts to “box him in” because he obviously is not being boxed in if he is slated to appear in movies like the ones mentioned above. I’m referring to the commitment to Satan that he has blatantly made to get these roles in Hollywood. No disrespect to you, but if you think that he is being allotted roles in mainstream Hollywood movies based off of his acting ability, I have a bridge to sell you. He has the same “acting ability” that Will Smith, LL Cool J, and Queen Latifah had to get roles in Hollywood films. It’s good that you’re doing research, especially on that Lupe Fiasco dude because he’s another big satanist.
