R. Kelly arrives at the Cook County building in Chicago, Ill., for the first day of opening arguments for his child pornography trial Tuesday, May 20. The singer, who has pleaded not guilty, faces up to 15 years if convicted.
Prosecutors played the sex tape at the center of the child pornography trial in open court, just hours after opening statements in which they accused the singer of choreographing and starring in the footage with an underage girl. The trial is expected to take up to two weeks.

However, I am disturbed by the fact that it has taken so long for this trial to start. 6 yrs have past, the child then is now an adult. So if he is convicted I don’t feel bad for him, he had 6yrs to not think about his alleged actions and on top of that make plenty of money while avoiding this time,……now it seems like YOU”RE READY…and if you’re not get ready.
I think that the strongest evidence against R. Kelly will be witnesses that testify about relationships they had with him while they were underaged and that infamous video tape. His defense team better hire some great experts to disprove and challenge the prosecutor’s claim that it is him performing sexual acts with a minor.
I am truly happy to see this case go to trial. Only God can judge this man but the man in this tape definately looks like Mr Kelly. By the way, why at age forty does he still desire to wear braids?? SMDH! Those braids are not cute.

Saw the tape, he is in trouble. For the defense to play that in the beginning sets the stage in the jurors mind. Pluse the majority of the jurors are white — he is lucky the girl is black.

To all you blind STANS. Let me just say this. I know he did it for the following reasons. 1) He married Aaliyah when she was a minor, they caught them in a cheap hotel honeymoon suite.2)He was dating a woman that he has known since she was a little girl and was a friend to the girl’s family. 3) Majority of songs are somewhat perverted if you really listen to them. 4) He face was all up and through the video. 5) The Police found alot of child pornography on his computer, but can’t use that evidence because the warrant didn’t allow them to go through his hard drive. However, I think the jury is tainted, but really that’s his fault. You can’t keep finding loop holes to get out of trial and not think that the public isn’t going to talk about the case. More than likely he will be found guilty, because there’s been six years of coverage about this case painting him as a pedophile(which he is), but the judge is going to give him a light sentence and make him register.
There’s no way in hell he couldn’t have known the girl was underage. Her under developed body should have been a BIG clue.
I saw the tape too! The things he made that little girl do is a HAM! Then he made sure she didn’t forget the money that he was going to give her for the acts that she preformed for his nasty butt. The jury viewed the tape yesterday. His defense team is saying it wasn’t him. They’re claiming the R has a huge, unmissable mole on his back and that the person in the tape doesnt have the mole. They’re saying its R’s head on somebody elses body. They’re also saying that the girl in the tape was a prostitute. The prosecution will not be calling her as a witness. I saw the tape when it hit the bootleg circuit when all of this first came out. I remember being fully convinced that was R on the tape. I didnt think it was doctored or anything like that. Before the trial started I thought for sure he would be found guilty once they saw the tape. Now Im not so sure. Some of the people on the jury looked like they believed what his defense team were saying.

Kelly is saying that he is not the man in this tape and the presumable victim in the tape is claiming that she is not the female in the tape, so even if the prosecution calls a number of witness’ to say yes I believe it’s him and yes I believe it’s her, if they are both denying it and there is no REAL proof, i.e. a witness who was actually there during the time of the taping or a witness who was told by either R. Kelly or the girl, then he will walk. Unfortuanately, him marrying Aaliyah or having sex with other underage women (besides the girl on the tape) is not what he is on trial for. Therefore, the jury can only look at the ACTUAL evidence (the tape) for which he is being charged for, and if he has a birthmark that does not match or vice vera that could destroy the entire case for the prosecution.
And I heard that the girl being named in the tape is actually part of R. Kelly’s defense team and she’s claiming that it is not her. This thing could go either way……..
I really think RKelly is going to do some time, seriously. But word is during opening statements the tape was shown and they said he looked very comfortable ( which of sign guilt).

If nobody was suppose to watch the tape, then we wouldn’t be able to get him and pervs like him off the street. Just imagine if nobody got wind of this tape, R. First of all…I saw the tape but did not watch it so i could view a grown man having sex with a little girl…I watched it because I was a fan of Robert’s and wanted to know if it was true. I saw the girl and just by her trying to act sexy and didn’t know how; knew she was not a grown woman. I think few of us watched it to get our rocks off…it was just too hard to believe that he was capable of something like that. I had the displeasure of viewing a snippet of the tape. It was truly disgusting and the man did look like R. Kelly. You could tell the light skinned girl in the tape was a minor. This man truly needs to burn and do time for hideous crime. It’s well known on the north side of Chicago that R. Kelly loves to spend time with young girls, particularly after his concerts at his aftersets. Also, it’s rumored the alleged girl and her family were paid off lucratively years ago to say nothing if this ever came to court. What a LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!
Jurors are suppose to go by the evidence and if the only Physical evidence they have is the tape and the FBI is unsure that it was Robert, then it makes their case a little unstable. Even if other people testify that it is Robert and if people try to identify the girl who’s claiming to NOT be the victim in the tape, how will the prosecution prove otherwise? If I tell someone “no that’s not me” how can you prove that it is me?
That within itself is reasonable doubt and legally if the defense can prove reasonable doubt, the defendant is found not guilty.

The way I see it, he should not be alone in this trial. Where in the hell is this girl’s parents because they should be on trial too. As a minor, it is their responsibility to take FULL account of this child’s actions and whereabout and since they didn’t, they should also be in court with R. Kelly facing the same amount of prison time. That is the problem with so many young people in the world today. The parents half-ass raise them and when they turn out to be whores, then they want to get mad and sue. All of this could have been avoided if her parents did a better job at raising and protecting her. I am not saying that R. Kelly should not be punished for his crime, but charges should also be brought against the parents too.

I did not watch the tape, a friend of mine was given it from another friend to watch without telling us what was on it. After we saw what looked to be R. Kelly then two nude girls walk in, we were in shock, digusted, and immediately took the tape out and destroyed it. Both my friend and I have little girls. We could not in good conscience sit up and watch a grown man take advantage of a young girl- and think it was all good. NO WAY!!! We also gave the “friend” who gave us the tape the business….
