Check out this new Chris Brown song that will be featured on the Forever Edition of his sophomore album, Exclusive. The track features my girl Keri Hilson. I never would have thought that they would do a duet together. I’m happy to see that Keri is getting features like this now. For some reason, features always get me excited because it seems as if an artist is getting closer to releasing an album. Keri’s debut album, In A Perfect World… is set to drop soon. I actually like how their voices sound together. Look for the rerelease of Exclusive in stores June 3rd.

Oh goodness. Is she doing it again? Coming out with songs that I like, regardless of the fact that I just can’t stand the fact that she is a horrible performer? I fell victim to Cassie’s production the last go ’round. I knew that Bryan-Michael Cox was doing tracks for Cassie, but I wasn’t sure what to expect. He definitely delivered a great club track for her. The yet-to-be-titled sophomore project from Cassie has yet to have a concrete release date, but “Official Girl” has been catching on like wildfire. Although I was skeptical about Cassie’s sophomore album, I have to admit that I’ve liked a few of the songs that have released. Hopefully she can move a little something this time.

Seems as if everyone is gearing up for a rerelease. But I’m not even sure that a rerelease can pump some blood into the already dead 10th studio album from Janet, Discipline. “Can’t Be Good” is supposed to be the third single from the album, but I have yet to hear it on the radio, much less, plans for a video. I really wish that Janet would have gone for releasing “Luv” as the third (or even second) single. That song gets more radio play than I ever heard for “Rock With U” or “Can’t Be Good.” The Red Rat Remix of this joint is set to appear on the rerelease of Discipline. But I just don’t see the point.

This new song from Usher’s Here I Stand was produced by the Avila Brothers and penned by none other than Sean Garrett, who is working on a debut album right now. I dig the production on this song, but it’s something about it that’s just leaving me cold. That kind of seems to be the trend with this new Usher music: it’s either hit or miss, there’s nothing in between where I’m just like “Oh okay, this is a cool album track.” It doesn’t hurt my anticipation for the new album though. Here I Am hits stores May 27th.

Chris should have done that duet with Cassie instead of Keri. She completely took took control of that song. Keri showed how much of a weak of a singer he is.If he practice his vocals as much as he do for his dancing, he would probably would be a great singer. Another flop for me. Loved Keri’s part. I don’t know why people are giving Usher such grief….is it because he made such haughty comments about making classic, meaningful music? If it is, I get that…that was definitely a lot of hot air. But the guy is a genius when it comes to pop music, albeit it CRAP music, he just knows the perfect way to sing things. “Love in this club” fits this typical mediocre trend of pubescent r&b, but the way Usher sings it makes it soooooooooooooooooooooo hot. It’s grown on me and it truly my favorite song (the original). I love Usher.

I’m not feeling any of these songs. They do nothing for me. My expectations for Usher were not high due to the fact that I’m not a diehard fan. The songs that have leaked are lacking growth, substance, feeling…basically the IT factor. They are decent but nothing that will make me say, “I got to go cop that album.” I have no doubt he will do well and sell a lot of records, I just won’t be one of the many who buy it. As for Janet, her time has been over for awhile now. I could care less about her album. I heard it and was not impressed at all. This isn’t a pick on these artists post, I am hard to please so this is my typical feeling about the music of today. Only a handful of artists impact me and they are not listed here.
I love Janet and it truly hurts me to say it, but music has changed and she isn’t changing her sound so it’s like the same album being released over and over again. Still you can’t take anything away from her career, it’s just time for her to do something different. She should do more movies..hell how much more money does she need anyway? She’s set for life.

Usher song was alright. I feel like everyone else, I haven’t heard anything besides “Moving Mountains” that would make me extra excited about buying his album. I’ll buy it anyway though. I think his tracks are a little to urban when at this time music is starting to transcend genres. Maybe he is keeping his best tracks under wraps for the album.
