A little while ago, we posted some updates about Robin Thicke releasing his third album, and the first single was slated to be called “Magic.” Here it is! Sorry about all the DJ mess going on in the beginning, but I was excited to post this track when I get the information in my inbox. The Evolution of Robin Thicke was a really good album to me, and I was even more in love with his first album, Beautiful World, so I was quite anxious to hear what this new material for the new album. “Magic” is definitely jamming. I’m digging the music.

Here’s more music from Teairra Mari’s new project, which is due out on Interscope this summer. I was actually a fan of Teairra’s debut album (save a few songs — like “No Daddy”), so when I found that she was coming back onto the scene, I wanted to see what kind of look and sound she was going for. Although I’m rooting for Teairra, and I’m definitely in her corner, I haven’t really liked any of the other songs leaked aside from the single, “No No No.” Hopefully these are just teaser tracks.
♫ Shanell – Hate This City (snippet) – REMOVED
A couple of weeks ago, we did a Hot or Not spotlight on Shanell, who is 1/3 of the writing, performing collective, The Girls Club. Check out this new snippet that appeared on her MySpace page, titled “Hate This City.” It has a very retro, pop, 80′s-synth feel to it, and I absolutely love the composition, production and the lyrics. I’m eager to hear what a full version of the song sounds like.

The way Mario was talking about his new album after the not so stellar success of his last album, Go!, I was thinking to hear something really innovative and different from him for his fourth album. I’m hoping that this is old material that was just leaked and not representative of what he’s got up his sleeve for the next project, because this just isn’t going to hit it. This record is a few months late.
I agree w/ #25 about Thicke’s song. Its sounds like pseudo disco garb to me. It would be nice if it was unique and/or NON sampled (or at least sampled well). I think Thicke can come WAY better. Teairra’s song is reminiscent of 90′s love grooves and I’m kinda feeling it. Mario’s song… NO COMMENT ON CRAP lol.

I don’t know about anyone else but I can’t wait to cop the Thicke album.

RESPECTFULLY A LOT OF GREAT MUSIC CAME FROM THE 60′S AND 70′S BUT LET’S NOT ACT LIKE SAMPLING AND RE-DOING A SONG DIDN’T HAPPEN BACK THEN. WERE YOU MAD WHEN LUTHER VANDROSS RE-DID “SUPERSTAR”, OR ARETHA FRANKLIN RE-DID “NATURAL WOMAN”, WHAT ABOUT WHITNEY’S VERSION OF “I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU?” (I COULD GO ON AND ON MA) AND THEY ALL HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER HITS FROM OTHER SONGS THEY RE-DID, SO PLEASE DON’T DISCOUNT ROBIN’S TALENT BECAUSE HE SAMPLED THIS SONG AND BLANKET A GENERATION BY IMPLYING THEY’RE TOO NAIVE OR NOT SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW/CARE ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE. HAD YOU EVER THOUGHT THAT IT MAY TAKE THESE NEWER ARTIST TO INTRODUCE THE OLD SCHOOL TO THE YOUNGER GENERATION? (THANKS TO AN ORGANIZATION KNOWN AS ASCAP THESE NEWER ARTIST HAVE TO PAY, YES THE ORIGINAL WRITERS GET PAID, WHO IN YOUR BOOK WOULD BE THE OLD SCHOOL ARTIST, TO USE SAMPLES OR TO RE-DO A SONG, SO LET’S EASE UP CALLING THEM ROBBERS) WHENEVER A SONG IS SAMPLED IT HAS TO BE LISTED IN THE LINER NOTES OF THE ARTISTS’ ALBUM. THIS YOUNGER GENERATION CLEARLY CAN READ WHAT SAMPLES A SONG CONTAINS AND WHO WROTE IT IN THE NOTES. IF THE SONGS DIDN’T GET SAMPLED THEY WOULD BE STUCK IN A PAST GENERATION. SAMPLING BRINGS RELEVANCE TO THE CLASSIC TRACKS! I UNDERSTAND THE POINT YOU’RE TRYING TO MAKE BUT I THINK IT COULD HAVE BEEN SAID W/ OUT SHAMING THESE ARTIST FOR DOING SOMETHING THAT’S BEEN HAPPENING BEFORE THEY WERE BORN OR INSULTING THE INTELLIGENCE OF A YOUNGER GENERATION.
To #14, not true. While I agree R&B is falling, and there are some white folks really getting it. I don’t think they’re taking over. There are still some amazing black musicians out there who refuse to get on board with the watered down s**t. Musiq (hot s**t), Gnarls Barkley (have u heard that new CD?), Erykah Badu (back and doing it big), and so many more. So I won’t give it up just yet. Robin Thicke is mah dude and he is killing it with his music, Natasha isn’t R&B, and I’m not really feeling Justin or his work lately. I think we black people still have it in us, we are just giving into what everybody wants to buy which is bulls**t but I know we are coming out of that soon. …Well, I love old school and absolute originality… and I have relatives who were fortunate 2 spend time with Mr. Marvin Gaye during his musical journey… my heart lies with his originality and that of the great artists of that era and the Motown Sound completely… I personally feel that he and many of the other wonderful artists would be cool with some of the sampling done by some of the cats of this generation…yo…it’s like they’re being remembered… cool
…but Mr. Marvin and Mr. Stevie too, (&& my Dad) to me, have always personified the true essence of ‘originality’

I don’t know who these women are. And by the sound of their music, I have no interest in finding out. I love Robin Thicke and Mario is pretty good when he has the right material. Unfortunately, that song was not one of them.

I love Robin Thicke. soo cutie&he can sing. So Im definetely diggin’ “Magic.” The beat is kinda Keyshia Cole meets Jay Z. Its beautiful.
I don’t know about these other songs, but Robin’s was cool. Brian really is a cute, even though light skin guys are unfashionable.
