I watched American Idol last night out of boredem, because I already know that robot a.k.a. David Archuletta will win, but anyway I saw Fantasia’s performance and I liked it. She was giving it a lot of energy. I just felt she was mumbling too much on some parts. If she was singing more clearly, it would have been a better performance. But yeah Angel, I saw Simon’s face and it was priceless. I don’t think he liked Fantasia’s performance. LOL!!

It is unfortunate that the writers of the show have not considered that Cali is culturally and ethnically diversified; as a result they have decided to portray this show as a dominant caucasian-weak rip off of a former popular show.

Off topic but there’s this dumb ass show on the CW called Farmer’s Got a Wife (or something like that). Of course, they have the one Black sister (and not a cute one at that) in the mix. I LOVE Fantasia but I hated her performance to be honest…Simon looked like he was disgusted; like, WHAt DA’ HeLL she doing? She’s such a sweet soul though and she is talented. The song was wrong for a live performance but I bet on radio its going to be hot.

It was the wrong song, but if you’re familiar with the song it goes REALLY REALLY fast…so you couldn’t understand what she was saying because the song goes at the speed of light and she sang it just as she sang it on the CD….but it just wasn’t appropriate. I thought the same thing when DC performed “Soldier” on Saturday Night Live but nobody went on and on about how “hood” and “deplorable” that was because they find them (by them, I mean Beyonce cause let’s just face it…she WAS DC lol) attractive. Fantasia’s performance definitely caught him off guard. There will never be another like her on AI. It is all about popularity/marketability which is fine at first, but it says nothing for the future. As much as I like Kelly Clarkson (Chris Daughtry is ok as well/Carrie Underwood) there is nothing unique about her. Her last album didn’t do very well and she had to cancel her tour because tickets just didn’t sell. I see the same thing happening to Chris and Carrie. They are just too “top 40-ish”. These days you have to have that special something that separates you from the rest. Fantasia has this in spades.

Truer words have never been spoken. I actually think it is to her advantage that she’s not what people would call the average beauty. This makes her even stronger IMO. It makes her work harder instead of falling back on her looks like so many others. Sometimes looks is a disadvantage because they think they don’t need to develop a personality.

Who is saying Fantasia is a failure? She got nominated for 4 Grammy’s on her first 2 CDs. She sold nearly 2 million copies with her first CD. I wouldn’t call that a failure. Stop buying what the media is selling. That is what they want you to believe. They are very subtle,but black winners don’t do “as” well because R&B generally doesn’t sell as much as pop. Anyway,Fantasia is one of the most successful artists on AI-PERIOD. She had a great run on Broadway and is now in the works to do the musical on the big screen. YEA TASIA!!!!

Some of you all still don’t get it!!! I do and did!!!! I loved the performance. We and everyones mother knows that Tasia can flatfooted sing anything she proved that in the Color Purple, this performance was NOT about her vocal skills though she was on key it was to display her ability to step ou the box.
You all have not been paying attention she has been saying rockstar for the past two years and she has it on her hand.
She also said in one of her grammy interviews she was not going to be in a box so why are you suprised.
You are underestimated this girl the international stage loves ROCK.
She only did what Tina, Patti, James Brown, and others did back in the day and do you all remember Paula when she first started she looked whack.
It was no longer boring Idol and the song was so appropriate “BORE ME” is what Idol did for me this year.
She at least woke us up cause my mama was even sitting in her chair yelling you go Fantasia, she was going I love your hair like she could hear her.
If her hair was black with the outfit and lights it would have washed her totally out because of her skin tone.
what do you want her to do lighten her skin instead of her hair.

Simon only knows about marketing/making money. He does not have an air for music. I could care less what Simon thinks and apparently neither does Fantasia. AI is so cookie cutter. There is nothing original about most of the singers on this show. America can’t appreciate anything different-especially when you are black until other countries except them and then they want to jump on the bandwagon. If Fantasia was white and gave the same performance with the same hair and outfit people would be saying how “original and unique” they are,but on Fantasia it is atrocious? She already won AI. She doesn’t have to please them at this point. She needs to please her fans and as one of them I was VERY HAPPY with her performance. That girl could care less what the haters think. She is who she is and makes no apologies. For that alone I admire her.

We can tell someo of you that are writing in have never heard the album, because she sung t his song like on the album and whenever she perfroms it live people love it, she perfromed it on GMA last summer and rocked it.
We know this song…and you say you are fan. Hate on it was for the energy, this song anyone cannot sing. This is how this song it.Listen to the cd, high energry and really a club song for dancing and partying and she worked it.

I thought it was extremely disrespectful to keep showing Simon’s face when Fantasia was performing. I’m very disappointed. Normally Simon doesn’t bother me,but he can be such a twat at times. He is such an ATTENTION WHORE.

It was not a flop. Futhermore,the album got nominated for 4 Grammy’s,as did her first CD.

What the hell does her hair color have to do with it? Yes she was good on AI,but that was a COMPETITION. It doesn’t define who she is as an artist. What you see now is the real deal. I always said AI is for a bunch of old people and young kids who are easily influenced because most of the singers on the show are so predictable and generic. They don’t bring anything new to the table. They just recycle the same stuff with different marketing.

HALCYONC, I see you’re a huge fan! lol Anyway, I agree with you about her being in the wrong genre…She says she wants to do “hood rock” but the CD failed…I guess too many people were pushing the ballads and “When I see You’s” on her…she needs to get with a talented writer, get some meaningful lyrics…there’s a way to get pain across without being so literal like Mary or simple (like the “Bore Me” song). But she got one fan here…when she goes on tour, I’m definitely going to see her. I haven’t seen such an energetic performance…ever… I mean, in this generation…and so I’m definitely going to check her out. I just hope she’ll allow some talents to help her out with the new record…she’s so much more than “Bore Me” she very much IS the spitting image of Tina Turner. Someone said Patti and James Brown…well she’s all these people + Aretha…it’s crazy!

Souljah Boy was nominated for a grammy, and Rihanna won one so that really doesn’t mean anything. now to the topic of her performance, i love the high energy of it, BUT i could not understand a word homegirl was saying. She was like a little energizer bunny man. She looked crazy as hell to me, esp at the beginning. But ye, i could not tell she was singing over all that screaming, and i KNOW she can sing, so why didnt she? Anywho, Simon’s face was PRICELESS. lmao, i want him to give a statement on whether he liked it or not lmao cuz i was dying after seeing his face.

I like Fantasia too but that performance was HORRIBLE!. I couldn’t even hear a word that she was saying. She screamed the entire time. She needs to get under and older singer ex: Patti, Gladys, or Aretha. Somebody needs to show this girl how to be a bit more classy than what she is. The hair color is a fashion nightmare. Please color over that NOW!
