Okay. I religiously watched DWTS until they prematurely kicked off Mario. Usher is an excellent dancer & performer, but they need to get a better demographic going in their studio audience. Their studio audience is skewed much older than it should be. They were killing me softly with the cheesy clapping every 30 seconds. Either they need to lose the clapping track in the background or they need to make the audience hold their applause until something great truly happens.

That being said, all three did a good job on their respective performances.

Why is it that Ashanti has the same on-stage mannerisms as she did when she first came out like 6 yrs ago? That same “hand on my chest” routine is getting tired. I could watch a performance of “Foolish” or something and see virtually no difference in her on-stage presence. Tho the song and video were a step up, the performance was not.

Ashanti has really came back and stepped it up.

Usher and Janet still got it in my opinion. I can’t wait for the Rock Wit U concert also. I know it will be sick as usual.

janet’s dance performance was great. didn’t like the lip synching. if that’s to be expected at the concert, i’ll pass!

Mario stayed longer than he should have, actually. From day 1, he was salacious. With all the body bumping and scant dresses, he should have known he couldn’t be so overtly sexual. He was adding too much emphasis on his pelvic region throughout the competition, too…sounds crazy, I know…but if you watched his performances, he was quite literally “goosing” his partner. I think it was a mix of youth and inexperience…the lewd “rolling” you might do to an R. Kelly song is not conducive to ballroom dance. And, when the rumors started about the affair with his partner, his dancing became something you just couldn’t forgive.

I’m sorry, but Ashanti has the most MEDIOCRE voice in R&B…I never understood the hype. Not trying to be mean, I’m just confused….her singing always seemed like talk/screaming to me, and there’s no emotion behind it.

I wish I could see what other people see in her, but she’s just not doing it for me. Some of her songs were cute though (production-wise I mean), but her voice….what’s the big deal?? Can someone please ’splain? LOL

Im sorry but Ashanti sounds a PICKLE! She never sounds good to me, but thats just my opinion.

# 38, many of the dances on the show are very sexual. I am a fan of the show, and the dancers’ styles are a matter of opinion. I was reading an article yesterday that discussed how the producers pair the partners a certain way to up the sex appeal, make the audience wonder if the partners are dating each other, & keep the ratings up. Mario is not the first or the last person on the show to grind his partner on the dance floor. Some of the married contestants have been just as sexual or more sexual than Mario was. My main point is that Mario is a much better dancer than Marissa, who was safe the week that Mario was eliminated. My other main point is that the audience is inappopriately skewed regarding age for some of the performances. The last point is there is too much clapping going on during the performance. It sounds like a clap track instead of natural applause.

There is a fine line, which may be up for debate itself but I can only go by what I’ve seen from every other celebrity on that show… There is a line you cannot cross…Mario’s dancing was lewd and low-browed and it’s not because he didn’t have an ability, but merely because he CHOSE to come acrose that way. The lip-biting in the behind-the-scenes moments, which he knew would be televised?? He made every moment with his partner some extended sex scene and that is NOT what the show has been about.

Well excuse me Miss Ashanti. Girlfriend definitely threw down in that performance. And the shoes are on fiyah!!!! I really like that single she has out. It definitely hit home for me. I have been there and done that. Overall, she did a very good job.

I love Usher’s smooth dancing, but I can’t stand the lip synching stuff. It’s getting old and it’s time for usher to learn how to sing and dance all at once.

Yes, I don’t understand the hype because her voice is simplistic…but that could be part of her appeal. Especially since most die-hard Ashanti fans seem to be under the age of 22.

I usually like singers that have a unique and / or exceptional quality to their voice, but maybe that’s just me. The appeal for Ashanti fans may be that her songs are attainable and they can sing along with her and sound like her…
For instance, I can’t sing, I mean I can carry a tune, but not sing…and when I sing along to Ashanti songs, I sound almost exactly like her…that is weird to me. Her songs are catchy though.

Now with an Aretha song, or even a Fantasia or Beyonce song, I won’t sound like them no matter how hard I try….they have great range, and there’s something unique about their voices. Whenever I hear Ashanti, her singing voice just sounds like a controlled extension of her speaking voice.

And about the song writing…how old are you? If that’s amazing sobg writing to you…you need to open your mind up a little….

In any event, Ashanti strikes a cord with many people, I don’t understand it, but more power to her. No “hate”, lol, I’m just flabbergasted.

Ashanti has been in the game for 6+years and performed as if this was one of her first times on stage! She looked more like Tiffany Evans than a veteran in this business. Her performance went like this sing/screaming, hand on her head, a little winding of the hip, 2 steps forward, pumping of the fists (as if it were a rap song) and gestures of driving a car and reading a book! R U SERIOUS! how on earth do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you make the Danity Girls look better than you! All of you who said her performance was amazing must have been asleep at the wheel of the car she was gesturing! We are not fools and all the posts (note to Donald Meyers) on her appearance schedule is very transparent! We know majority of you are on her payroll! Maybe CL is her own personal blog site! Who Knows but please stop with the Ashanti accolades because trust, her album is going to brick. I do think she will sell though cause she does have a solid fan base who will buy her album no matter how bad her vocals her because it is easy to sing a long like Sanaa said. I’m not really sold on the radio version either cause I don’t like the vocals on that either. I like the way the song was written though just wish someone else would sing it. Also I really want Ashanti to embrace this song as a ballad so she should try sitting in a chair and singing it without all of the movement and the “what what, yeh yeh”

As for Ashanti, I love the song hands down, You can tell that she is into the song everytime she sings it which brings more to the table than an artist with a GREAT voice but is bored with a song that they can’t relate to.

WOW! I wish I could see and hear Ashanti tear it up…That performance as well as the vocals were lackluster. I thought she sound the exact way she did on the first two albums. Ashanti is beautiful and can hold a note. That’s where the line is drawn. She’s straining to get certain notes out, she’s out of breath, she points several times throughout the performance as if she cant figure out what to do with her hands. I don’t see what big improvement people keep talking about in regards to Ashanti’s vocals. I didn’t see a difference. I’m not too keen on the song. Actually, its the worst I’ve heard it thus far.

Ashanti’s performanc was really good. People really love knocking her down, but she’s really legite to me and a lot of her songs are really graet. I’m not saying that I’m going to get the album (never bought any), but I do enjoy her songs and I actually can’t wait to see her develop more over the years. Ashanti is no Beyonce, true, but why does she have to sing like her? Then her haters would be calling her a copy-cat! Ashanti is really awesome and I am happy for her sucess.

wtf does ashanti have 2 offer???? im not a hater at all, i really try 2 like her, but everytime i see her perform i realize why i can never be a fan. her vocals barely improved she cant dance, her hair always a mess and her mom is up her ass everywhere she goes (peep the lady at the side of the stage lol). i would much rather hear her singing hooks on other ppl songs or writing songs for other people.
there’s a lot of artists that cant dance but damn she really b pissing me off with the hand gestures and shit lol

I’m sorry Ashanti stans, but even she’s beautiful and her wardrobe is hot, that girls till cannot sing worth a damn. Her runs were awful, she can hit any notes or anything. I know being huge fans of hers it’s hard to see it, but uh-uh she needs vocal lessons badly. Rihanna sings better than her listen to “Take a bow”.

Usher is still great, he’ll be recieving his “Icon” awars by the time he’s 40. But he just can’t move like he used to, he used to intrigue me with his flexibility and quickness I used to be like “damn” Usher, but now he’s kind of slow. Some people are saying his album is lame, I hope not, sorry stans. But Usher is still bad ass.

Janet is great, she never had great vocals but she will forever be a outstanding dancer, and entertainer.

I mean seriously, I couldn’t enjoy’s Usher’s live vesion cause I was distracted by the audience clapping every 5 seconds. I take it that it was a predominately white audience…

He was lip syncing and not doing a very good job at it I might add. On the last number I didn’t think his dancing was very good. He was just going through the motions IMO.

Mario should have at least been in the finals. Much like AI,a bunch of old fogies watch this show,but don’t actually buy the CD’s which is why you don’t have to be a winner to be successful.

I’m an Usher fan…..but his dancing and swagger have seemed a little off lately. He even missed a few of the in-sync motions with his dancers in this clip. All of them were together and he kept rushing it and moving before them. I think fatherhood and marriage have affected him a bit. The sex appeal is gone and he’s a little awkward now…..maybe it’s nerves.
