This is a good look for women of color. From what I hear, Vogue doesn’t usually have black models holding down the cover. Kinda odd how Toccara is included, but not Eva who actually won. I noticed Eva hasn’t been on Tyra show for a follow-up or nothing, but anyway big ups to all the beautiful ladies.

  2. Brandon

And not one of them cover girls is wearing their own damn hair! Still a good step forward. Hope it’s a sign of real progress and not just a gimmic to sell mags since people don’t really buy Vogue much anymore.

  3. Complicated_25

Tyra is not to be toyed with…she’s a bad bytch. Love tyra. Love black, beautiful women.

  4. TiffanysWorld

I’m scared to say how I really feel for fear of the others who won’t agree with me and my opinon..heehee…

    Just kidding..I ain’t scared of nar-nutta! lol..

The ladies all look beautiful…All in different shades of blackness-ness..It’s been a long time coming…

  5. Bri

Where’s Tyra, Is the second picture her?

  6. Chiara

Well Liya Kedebbe is Ethiopian so she has straight hair. I don’t know about the other, only Naomi is wearing a weave for sure.
I think it’s funny there are so few black model they had to resort to old pictures and taking models like Tocarra.

  7. danDan

after a challenging day, this is fantastic news, because Jourdan Dunn is from Hammersmith, they found her in Primark. It’s like saying that she’s from Rosedale in Queens and they found her in umm walmart or something..

    we’re all gonna make it…

    :D

  8. Nothing But Love

Im so getting this issue…. these pictures are hawt tyra looks firece, and Naomi campbell is that chick dont get it twisted.

  9. It’s about time! Liya is the baddest chick.

  10. IAMDARKAQUA

THE BIATCH NEEDS TO BE IN A STRAIGHT JACKET ASAP BUT SHE’S SO FLY IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA…NAOMI IS NO JOKE..WIT HER CRAZY ASS!

  11. politicallyincorrect

Oh I get it, African American women aren’t exotic looking enough. They are the ones that tainted the genes

  12. FIRESTARTER1981

What is wrong with Tocarra? She is a model also. So, what if Eva won. I believe I see Tocarra on more stuff than I see Eva. I think that Tocarra is very beautiful. Just because Tocarra actually eat food don’t hate on her. Congradulations to everybody that was chosen to do the photo spread.

  13. politicallyincorrect

When are the Eva fans going to realize she is a pretty girl but not a model

  14. carmen

I have been stalking Borders and calling them for this issue! I can’t wait until it comes out! No many may not be wearing their natural hair, yes they may be old pictures, however, let’s stand up for the fact that there is an issue featuring black models in the FIRST place. It is a step in the right direction. It serves as a lamp for other fashion titans still living in the dark ages and not featuring and using black models on runway, in magazines, and behind the scenes. *Ana Wintor take notes! * Work it out!

  15. KSH

    Love it! I am impressed!

  16. Tabby

Tocarra is reppin the plus size models, that’s why she is there. They are trying to make change. Not only black models on the cover is change but featuring a plus size model is MAJOR change. So for those turning up ya nose at Tocarra, she has opened the door for a lot of women. You see who won ANTM this last cycle… You don’t have to be “hood” plus size but if your bigger than a 8 in the modeling world your considered fat.

  17. hood_shit

    I’m def copping this!

  18. Phillyfashionista

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOOOOVE IT!!! Everything about Italy is just sexy, and I’m glad to see our beautiful sistas being a part of that!!!

P.S. I think there will be a lot of happy Italian men buying this mag cause Lord knows they love them some Black Women, LOL.

  19. Naomi Campbell Looks beautiful.

  20. STLCHICK

I want to purchase this magazine! I’m loving the concept. I would be interested in seeing it again w/ another ethnicity group featured. I want to see Tocarra’s pic though.

  21. Tabby

Does it really matter if they wear their own hair?? It’s 2008, I can’t belive people are still stuck on that BS tip. Why act like weaves are new. I NEVER hear anyone making hair remarks about Paris H, Nicole R, Jessica S, and Jessica A. They all wear weaves. But since people get it twisted because they pay $6,000, and call it “hair extentions”, it’s ok. Oh please. I would love to see some of ya’ll hair. Forget your faces. I want to see some hair game and not just on Easter and Christmas. This just reflects slave mentality at it’s best.

  22. Jessica Liz

This is a huge break threw, i know first hand how hard it is for a black model…. And this industry wont change until all people of color eknowledge the blaintant racism in the fashion industry and demad a change. We deserve to get the same opportunities the white models get, so its a dream come true for me to see this issue of Vouge.

  23. Tabby

My son was the first black kid to appear on the cover of Italia’s news paper during fashion week. They loved him over there. He was the first black kid to walk.

  24. mzc2u

This is a goo step forward, love Tyra’s pic, It has alot of depth, and is that Naomi on the bottom pic, if so she looks beautiful, crazy and all but she is bad!! Toccara is beautiful too, just liked her better when she was truly plus-sized!!

  25. Natural Mystique

They’re all gorgeous!!! (except for that Tyra pic)
Where’s Karen Alexander–she, Naomi and Liya are my favorites!
I don’t know who else is displayed, but from what I see here, there’s a certain look here that doesn’t exactly represent all Black women’s looks. Hmnnn.
    I need a copy though.

  26. jonas

Wow that is amazing for Vogue Italia’s.
Naomi is so pretty along with the other ladies.
Can’t wait to get my hands on the copy with Mrs. Campbell.
Why is tyra looking like that though? pale with a dew rag??

  27. Mis

A step ahead, but we are STILL embracing the European’s vision of black beauty instead of representing ALL black beauties. Where are the brown to the chocolate to the charcoal complexion models at?

  28. KaeDeluxe*

    these photos are absolutely stunning!!

  29. TIANA

CHANEL IMAN AND JOURDAN DUNN…. WORK IT!

I AM STILL NOT SATISFIED THOUGH.

SO WHAT, YOU GONNA MAKE A BLACK ISSUE THEN NEVER FEATURE A BLACK IN YOUR MAGAZINE AGAIN? YOU DONT HAVE WHITE ISSUES DO YOU? WHAT IS THIS? YOU FELT BAD SO U GAVE UP 1 ISSUE AND SHOVED US ALL TOGETHER… THEN WE BACK TO “SPOT THE BLACK”???

THIS IS SUM F’D UP SHI* I MEAN, I LOVE ALL THE MODELS FEATURED AND IT ALL LOOKS NICE AND LOVELY, BUT INSTEAD CAN WE NOT JUST HAVE AN EVEN DISTRIBUTION? CAN WE NOT HAVE A BLACK EVERY MONTH INSTEAD OF WHEN YOU DECIDE YOU NEED TO FEATURE A PERSON OF COLOUR TO NOT APPEAR RACIST?? THIS IS LIKE ALL THAT BLACK HISTORY MONTH BULL SHI* COZ I KNOW NO BLACK PERSON WAS FOR THAT SHI*… I AINT EVEN GON START ON THAT ONE.

SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG BUT THIS IS ALMOST A PISS TAKE. HOLLA

  30. Seriously

I’m glad to see a magazine taking a step forward and showing designers what they’re missing out on. Whether we want to admit it or not, many of us Americans look to Europe to see what’s the next hot fashion trend, beauty trend, etc. so I’m glad that Vogue Italia has decided to say let the world know what our people have always known: BLACK IS WHERE IT’S AT!!!!!!

Too bad Vogue America didn’t do this first. Poor Andre can only do so much over there at Vogue, but I know he is probably happier than anyone about this fashion exclusive.

  31. BIG WIG

I agree with TIANA….. even out the models all the time and there will be no need to just pop out on BLACK ISSUE to not appear racist..

  32. Original Truth (I don't care if ya get mad)

wow 2008 and we have a “black issue” Vogue…. that’s an issue for me..a nd I have to agree one issue and then never feature another black cover…. I guess that’s the forty acres and mule gift from Vogue… they suck anyway…. NEXT!!

Love the photos.. Tyra reminds me of Kerry Washington in that photo on the sofa….

I don’t support clear people magazines….. When I see one or more clear people with an Essence Mag then maybe I’ll hop on board….. This is an accomplishment int he fashion world but a disgrace in all reality!!!

  33. Sideshow Bob

@25 Contrats to your son! That’s big shit on his resume’
Give it to ‘em Toccara. The only BLACK ANTMer that is really gonna be in a big, mainstream magazine. I don’t think she is really plus size anymore but that’s big shit. VOGUE! WHAT! Who says you have to win that show to be big? NOT!

  34. Sideshow Bob

@34 I don’t think that is Tyra on the sofa. It looks like Naomi

  35. TR!LLA

    about time
    THEY ALL LOOK AMAZING!!

  41. RiveGauche2006

Cool, love Vogue italia, can’t speak a lick of italian, but the fashion & photography rock, the subscription is nearly 300.00 for 12 issues, i paid it back in the day when gas wasn’t 4.10 a gallon!!

  42. Sideshow Bob

    @43 u lucky. Its 5.10 here in L.A.

  43. OrangeSharpie

i had to look twice cuz i thought the covers were photoshopped. im actually surprised by this. but! this is soo nice to see! do it more!

  44. Juicy SuperStar

Well me and all my friends love Vogue and have held a subscription since High School. Yes we have discussed its lack of color but we like looking at the clothes. We like viewing fashion even if we cant afford it. With that said, I’m going to buy this issue online. Yes, I think they should feature blacks more but I’m in no position to change that right now. If I don’t purchase this issue and the All Black Vogue doesn’t sell well then they will feel justified in their “Black OUT”. They are simply going to say Black Models don’t sell as much as whites and Black people don’t support their favorite models. I like fashion and Love Tyra so Im buying it.

  45. Juicy SuperStar

    @44

    $5.10

    *Passes OUT….*

Im going to buy a Hybird…

Its $4.15 for Reg here in DC.

  46. bella

i am going to be buying this from Borders who usually have foreign vogues lol
This is wonderful, a depiction of beautiful black women whats not to love

  47. That’s Beautiful. Bout damn time, don’t u think

  48. Tabby

@47 nicely said. We do have to support this issue. Forget Essence’s next issue. Essence’s has fell off big time. I can’t believe they sold the magazine. A black staple like that and BET shouldn’t have been sold. Yeah I know it’s business but dang. You see white all up and through Essence. But it’s ok.

  49. Sideshow Bob

    @Juicy SuperStar
And that’s cheap! I’mma ride my damn bike everywhere or skateboard or something. but wait, that’s hard to do with a suit on…damn

  50. goldie pyramid

    gorgeous!

  51. AriesRme

I will have to cop that and she the rest of the pictures so far so good. Tyra’s fivehead is huge but she can strike a pose like no other. Go black beauties!

  52. chrismar

Liya Kebede is the only one wearing her natural hair on the cover, but i wish she had left it in curls.oh well they all look beautiful.

  53. UMMMM...

    Loves it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh can’t wait to get it

  54. JOJO

EXCUSE ME BUT WHAT DOES LIYA KEBEDE BEIN ETHIOPIAN HAVE TO DO WITH HER HAVIN STRAIGHT HIAR?? IM PART ETHIOPIAN AND MY PEOPLE IN NO WAY HAVE NATURALLY STRAIGHT HIAR. WE DO HAVE NATURALLY CURLY HAIR THO…BUT ITS NOT STRAIGHT UNTIL WE TAKE A FLAT IRON TO IT LOL

  55. Original Truth (I don't care if ya get mad)

Thanks for the correction #36… then all of them resemble right about now..lol..

hmmmm I kinda agree with your point #47…. still not buying but I kinda agree with the part about not purchasing and them thinking we don’t support… maybe I’ll peek at it in the bookstore….

    aside of that…

  56. BAMbeano

    can i say that i love #24! .. lol
