Aml Ameen and guest Actress Red Madrell Adam Deacon and Femi Oyeniran

This post is for all our U.K. readers out there. The U.K. premiere of Adulthood went down in London on Tuesday. Adulthood is the sequel to ’06′s critically acclaimed hit Kidulthood (which is one of my favorite movies) and it basically picks up where the last movie ended. After reading a few reviews, I’m definitely going to check it out.

Director & Actor Noel Clarke and model Danielle Lloyd Will Johnson and guest Shanika Warren Markland and Madeleine Fairley

  1. Ohh Nate…..Take that tie off and we can make sumthin out cha’!

  2. Littlemamasohood

I’ve never heard of this movie. Where can I get more details?

  3. Cash S

Clearly I’m from the states. I’ve never heard of either movie nor do I recognize any of these celebs lol.

  4. AriesRme

Hmmmm I’m not hip to either of these movies thanks for the post I’ll have to check em out oh and everyone looks nice.

  5. Rana-sxyldy

    UHHHHH!!
Who are these people? I guess that’s how the UK feels when our stars go over there!

  6. Littlemamasohood

Ok, I clicked on the link.

  7. Liya

Thanks for showing the UK some love Angel :) :)

  8. Kellz

Thanks Angel for posting events like this. Its nice to see what others are doing outside of the US. Next time can you feature details about the movie instead of just focusing on the celebs? Hey, maybe you guys can start a movie/dvd section! Something that features urban mainstream and indie flicks that aren’t getting exposure. That would be killer!

  9. The links above have more info.

And yeah, I do plan on starting a DVD review and release section in the future. Just gotta find the right person to keep it up to date. I’ll keep y’all posted.

  10. miss bahamas

(puzzled look)……..I left the UK last year after being a student there for about 4 years and I know NOT of this movie or the previous one……..neither am I familiar with any of these “celebs”…..

  11. Tabby

Just as I can not speak on this topic, I feel the same when reading comments from people commenting that are not from the states. Yeah we know American artists are world wide, but we get to know about them a little better than people who are not from here. That’s why I made the comment about not addressing my comments if your not from the states. Things always get twisted. I guess this is big in the UK.

  12. Original Truth (I don't care if ya get mad)

I’ve never heard of these movies… but fashion wise everyone looks nice and fresh…

  13. PheonixSky

They have a trailer for it when you click on the link. The kidulthood movie looks crazy.

  14. T.Lynn

CASH S…co-sign EVERY SINGLE THING you said. I’ve never heard of the people of the movie. Details anyone?

  15. DENITA SKYE

Is it just me or is the fashion not that great in the UK? Dont know what it is but I look to red carpet events mostly to see what everyone wears and none of these did it for me. Sorry

  16. mode elite

    What a pleasant surprise Angel!
most of them are d-list celebs, which is why most of you have never heard of them (heck, I only recognise faces I can’t remember everyone’s name) I’ve gotta see this film though.

  17. Gee

Oh great that’s what we really need. Another drug infested movie about teens having it bad in the ‘hood.

I like the way they show some teenage girl giving brain. Very artistic. This movie won’t get any of my ends not today or any other day.

  18. bambino

thanks for this post angel catering for the u.k audiences. idulthood was 2 sick and adulthood looks even better definietly gonna check it out when it comes out on friday. some random celebs are there tho sue-elise nash!! lol

  19. A.

    Thank God for something UK.

Can’t wait to see this film. Kidulthood was the funniest.

Asher D looks a mess. Dunno what he was thinking…

  20. K

Finally, the UK is being shown some love, thanks Angel. The movie is good n can’t wait till Friday to watch Adulthood. Yeah most of you guys won’t know who they are cos they are UK actors. Im glad black actors in the UK are being noticed now.

  21. Krist

I’m not from the UK but I’ve heard of a few of the celebs. It’s good to see Su-Elise! She’s looking good these days, Lisa Maffia too but Asher? I don’t think so. For the people that went for visits or stayed there for awhile, how did you not know of those three at least? Mis-teeq and So Solid Crew used to be huge.

  22. Juicy SuperStar

Never heard of any of these people… I wonder why… I only know of the Spice Girls and Amy Winehouse… Thanks for the lesson CL.

  23. Rae of StuffFlyPeopleLike.com

Somebody put me on please…..I’m such an American Boy…LOL…Im Clueless…

  24. Dev

Thanks Gee (17) i feel the same way! Yes, in the U.S you have Tyler Perry, Spike Lee to name a few but in the U.K people and T.V is not interested in showing black folk in a positive light f showing them at all. I’m not really feeling this film for these reasons, the U.K need to start showing black people in love, black people in business and black people doing positive things.

  25. politicallyincorrect

I have seen a UK show called Dub Plate online, it was ok, but I guess you can say that show had some negative images too

  26. Dame( I buy champions companies I am pass buying out bars but I do that)

    I agree with number 3

  27. LA BELLA

i have never heard of none of these people, sorry….

  28. lol i live in london and don’t know who most of these people are

def wanna see adulthood tho, i enjoyed kidulthood…for those with access to BBCiplayer you can watch the entire movie (kidulthood) online for the next four days.

for those criticizing you may not like what you see but that’s how some people in the UK choose to live you only have to look at the news to see that.. and the movie in my opinion acts as a cautionary tale, same with dub plate drama which wasn’t glorifying crime and violence as it showed the consequences people face when they go down that road.

i do agree that we need movies and tv shows that show positive role models, i can only remember desmonds fitting the description and how many years ago did that end?

  29. bambino

agree with 28 i 4got about dubplate shystie who starred in that is in adulthood too.

  30. I know none of these people, but Ashley Walters is hot.

  31. anonymous

I’m a movie lover and from watching the trailer for both movies, I’m hooked. A lot of American made films are not edgy anymore, there not original just cliches, they have no subtance, no weight. Movies that are worth your watch are either international flicks or just movies that was made by unknown directors that usually turn up at film festivals through out the states or internationally. I’ll check out both movies because they seem very interesting. I just wish I could say the same for the movies I watch here in the states.

  32. LoNdOn GaL

no 19. kidulthood was not funny. sum parts were funny like wen moony dashed da burger at da woman lol. but DA WHOLE FILM aint funny. its bout wat we black ppl in da hood areas have 2 face on a daily basis. GUN & KNIFE CRIME. i dont no how u fought dat was funny. but dont get me wrong, mayb ur talkin bout sum parts.

anyway, just fought i will clear da air. ANGEL, thanks 4 showin us Brits sum luv. i cant wait 2 c dat movie on friday at da cinema. im countin down. i no its sad. but if u’ve seen da trailer, den u will no wat i mean!

it gd 2 c black ppl in da uk doin big fings 4 us black ppl rite now as we need lots of help with this issue on gun & knife crime. i love da fact da Noel Clarke did many projects on urban areas dat are faced around us. i recently lost 1 of ma best friends who got stabbed cause he was goin home from school. i ave 2 live everyday of ma life just as if he was still here. i like da way Noel captures all of dis dat is goin on in our environment.

anyway thanks 4 dis post. R.I.P. Jordan. i miss u.

  33. ALEX

Ok im from the uk ..let me just explain to you what this is .Adulthood is like a famous movie about violene and crime jus like some american movies. aml ameen is a british actor .noel clarke is the director and actor

  34. ALEX

    @ dentia sky

we are not as extravagant as amreicans dress (not and insult)

we like to keep things simple .

  35. ALEX

so much negativity for the u.k but in the u.k we idolise actors in america. if u aint seen the movie yet tghen dont talk shit about it ….u will not understand it full if you jus watch the trailer trust me ..im from the u.k .i don think anymore overseas actors should be put on this site beacuse you lot write negative stuff but its all good because this movie is big in the uk ! and the first one was great!

  36. LDN

Yep.. love how you’re reppin’ the UK. Definitely going to check this film out, Kidulthood was amazing. Big up to Aml Ameen ;D

  37. haney29

    LOOOOVEEEE FEMI OYENIRAN!!!!!

  38. LDN- Lauren and Raquelle

I know a lot of people don’t recognise the celebs… heck, i’m from the UK and I only know a couple of them. The film is meant to be gritty and be disconcerting at times but that’s the reality of it. Just showing images of positive black poeple would be naive cos there’s the other side to it and often a struggle. . The negative images can only make people think about their own lives, Certainly made me think anyway… :D

  39. MESS

HAS ANYONE NOTICED IN THE UK THEY ARE KINDA FAT, THEY DEFINITELY ARE NOT AS BODY CONSCIOUS AS WE ARE HERE IN THE U.S.!

INTERESTING CAUSE THEY ALL LOOK SO “REGULAR” VERSUS MANY OF OUR GIRLS WHOS BODIES LOOK SUPER

  41. Moe

  42. KAMILI

Im from the UK and I can tell you the following :
1)ASHER D -REAL NAME ASHLEY WALTERS AS HE WANTS TO BE ADDRESSED NOW WAS IN A GARAGE-RAP GROUP(THEY FELLOFF BIG TIME COZ THEY USED TO GLAMORIZE VIOLENCE ATLEAST THATS WHAT IT WAS SEEN AS AND THEY WERW LIKE A HUNDRED OF THEM IN THE GROUP AND LISA MAFFIA WAS THE FEMALE LEAD SINGER NOT RAPPER..

2)DANIELLE LLOYD AINT A MODEL SHE’S KNOWN OUT HERE FOR ONLY SLEEPING WITH FOOTBALLERS( SOCCER PLAYERS) THEY ARE EVERY BIG OUT HERE! ALTHOUGH THEY ARE NOT ON BECKHAMS LEVEL OF CELEBRITY OR MONEY BUT THY ARE STILL VERY RICH AND ARE CELEBRITYS..

  44. LONDON GURL

OMDZZ..i really wnna watch adulthood cant wait!!

  45. Jay

I think some of you americans forget that there is life outside america. Black people do exist out of america you know lol. And i dont know how someone can make generalisations about UK black peeps and how we dress based on a few peeps in the pics.

Anyways, i saw kidaulthood and thought it was really good. HOWEVER, i am sick of seeing all these “urban” dramas about black boys struggling and having troubles of drugs and “street life” keeping them from their dream of being the next 50 cent. LOOK, yes, it exist..but it is not all we are. We see this all the time on the news and in the mainstream media. Do we really need to reinforce these stereoptypical views by making movies like this ourselves? can we please see something else! x

  46. Brandi

I loved Kidulthood, can’t wait to see this one!

  47. (GMWstylez) stuffflypeoplelike.com

Wow…I have no idea who these people are and I’m sorry #12 but I have to agree with #15. There seems to be no fashion sense whatsoever in the UK. They look as if they are “just going” to see the movie. Does not look Red Carpet-ish…SMH.
    Stay Fly!!!

  48. Nizzay

    U DUN KNOW! :D

Kidulthood was dope, looking forward to seeing this film. Red Madrell is sooo fiiiiiiine.

  49. proudlyblack

  55. flo

    @ 40.
People in the U.K aren’t as materialistic and self obsessed as those in America. They don’t run out and cut up their bodies to achieve a certain look like most of our celebrities. It just isn’t a priority to them. It’s funny that you say they are fat, considering America is the fattest nation in the world. I’m an American. I moved to the UK 5 years ago and i love it. People have more respect for themselves here, they love themselves as they are and are not as shallow as you have proved yourself to be. The best thing about the UK…They appreciate..they don’t HATE.

  56. Oh Boy

UK black ACTORS ARE WACK cos they accent don`t do it

  58. To Live and Die in Glendale Cali the place

I know Ashley dude cos he was in that 50 CENT movie
Nate as well cos he got same hair as mine well maybe not the hairline
almost 4got I also know that Lisa MAFFIA girl cos of so solid

  59. Just Jenn

Most of the actors in this movie or the previous (kidDULTHOOD) are not what you would consider ‘established’ actors. They are still up and coming. Am from the UK (London to be exact) so I can vouch for that. The first movie was v.intense-really graphic-although it does reflect the modern day lives of the youths in the capital, its still slightly exaggerated in my opinion. Although again, saying that, that’s what film does in essence…
