New Nas track entitled “Black President” (Produced by DJ Green Lantern) off of “The Nigger Mixtape”. In the song, Nas speaks directly to Obama and gives him his outlook and expectations on what changes we need as a country. Good timing.

when’s the LP dropping?
I can’t wait to get that new NAS
And though it is Heaven sent WE ARE READY to have a Black president!!!
Wow, the lyricism is ON POINT. Nas’ new LP and this upcoming mixtape sounds like its gonna be on point. PROPS to Angel for posting this.
Hey is that Tupac on the hook!
I hope NAS’s record company release his CD respectfully and not along with the TRASH…..
IS THAT JOHN Legend singing a chorus?????
That sounded like John Legend on there but not sure
I don’t care who say’s i’m hating, but Nas needs to fall back on this one. The reason being, Obama has not yet won the general election and the repubs are lookin for any and everything to throw out there to distort “white america’s” image of him. Now while i feel he was getting deep and all, I think that we shouldn’t be putting it out there that all of this unfair discrimination on people of color will stop just because a brother in the office. There are bigger issues to deal with (although that is one that should be at the top of the list) but lets be real, discrimination is like violence, your never gonna totally abolish it its just the way of the world. I think Nas should take the time and realize that it isn’t about rallying to buck the system so to say, its about showing these ignorant mofos out here we’re more than just a race of people who file lawsuits or always crying rascism. We are leaders, we are people of character, and we are not all barbaric. Plus, half of the shit nas kicks in his raps I can’t feel because it aint him.
BEST RAPPER EVA!!!!
YALL HOES STUCK ON LIL WANYE R THE REASON U SO DISRESPECTED AND SEEN AS A BUNCH OF UNEDUCATED ILLITERATE NASTY AZZ HOES.
This album is pure tomfoolery, we all know our history. And how can he be representing in this manner when he was just calling out elderly black people?
That’s one thing about our community is that we tend to cling on to the slavery, racism past, but we still have house negro mentallities.
I won’t be purchasing this ignorance.
I like the song! It’s tight!!
I don’t agree with Nas mostly but I give props to him on this one. Its a keeper!
Perfect timing Mr. Obama will be the next leader of the U.S.
Khia I agree with you about Weezy I heard his whole cd on youtube and the best song is Mr. Carter and that’s only because Shawn Corey is on it.
FUCK NAS
Nas …. a talented lyricist is now reduced to constant gimmicks -
This might have been noble or saying something if he introduced this BEFORE Obama was the nominee. This is just bandwaging now.
Great song NAS is awesome! lets win this thing Barack
I liked the flow you can’t deny NAS is tight in that area. Im excited about it. I personally don’t think that Obama can run on a pro black agenda however I think that our people are starving for a leader out front because we have not realized that we are leaders and can make changes in our own communities without figures in the spotlight doing it for us.
I think this is the first time I haven’t like a song by Nas…hmmm…..
BANGER! I love everything NaS does anyway! He’s the GOAT!
wow. nas pays mad homage to barack obama. he’s not as crazy as i thought he had gotten then!!
yes we can!
#9 and #11 are two dumbasses who wouldn’t know good music if it slapped em in their faces……………..
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE NAS!!!
I love 2PAC and NAS great song
i need this 4 my myspace ASAP!
9 and 11 are correct they’re not evaluating the music, they’re evaluating the time
and seriously fuck nas who is he to think he can give advice to obama
Little too late, I lost my faith in NAS, he has sold out purely for the money and the media attention. He cant capture the spotlight anymore so he does whatever he has to get his name back out in the public eye. Too late and keep your sights off Obama, last thing we need is NAS being another Pastor Wright
Not bad.
#25, AIKES:
Do you know how democracy is supposed to work?! NAS is a citizen of the United States of America; THAT’S why he can tell Barack, George, Bill, Hillary, Condi, & even Ralph Nader what he wants from them. Guess what? You, TOO, have the right – nay, the RESPONSIBILITY – to do the same. Don’t be upset because he realizes what you don’t. Don’t find fault because he will do what you won’t.
NAS NEEDS TO CHILL OUT!!!! ONE STEP AT A TIME ….. DONT DOUT HIM AND QUESTION HIM… LETS BE PROUD OF HOW FAR WE’VE COME AND HOPE FOR THE BEST…. POSITIVE THINKING BRINGS POSITIVE RESULTS!!!
Shut up, Nas.
How is it Obama’s sole responsibility to cure the ills of the Black community?
That strength and cure you and your street kind are looking for lies within.
Only Black baby mommas and black youth and black mothers and fathers and elders can “fix” the URBAN black community’s plague of self-destruction.
Stop blaming shit on YT and “the man” and the “system”, whatever the fuck that is. We are the ones perpetuating our demise. This type of bull is so played out already.
Put the reefer away for this one!
Well, first, I have to say that this song is SO much more cohesive than the “Nigger” track, that song was all over the place and the point was not clear at all.
Second, it’s hard for me to think of Nas as the greatest of all time when he keeps riding on Pac’s tail.
Third, the song is ok.
Fourth, I didn’t hear much in the way of expectations of Obama, other than the “every innocent Black man released. . .” part. It sounded more like a song in celebration of Obama’s win, rather than confronting Obama about what’s expected.
And, lastly. . . well. . . that’s it.lol.
@21, well that would depend on what you consider real music my friend. In regards to me saying half the stuff nas talks about aint him, its the truth. This is the ame guy who when he first came out was claimed he was an atheist. Now all of a sudden he’s god’s son. Like my man Jigga said “Is it black girl lost? Or shorty owe you for ice?”. Boy I tell you, a nigga smoke a blunt and rock a quefy (not spelled right i know) and he’s qualified to be a chosen prophet. We just went through this whole thing about the n word having such a negative stigma with it he goes and tries to build some contoversy to sell records. Although he’ll tell you he’s “schooling the youth” i call b.s.
cause believe you me, he can be as philisophical as he want’s, its all a business move. Thats why I always respect jay more, he tells you from the jump that he’s come for the loot.
However, I think if some white racist hear this song, they will say oh…. Obama is a supporter of gangsta rap.” they wil think you’re a fucking moron too!
i will always love nas, i just can’t help it.
I AGREE WITH EVERYBODY BUT I HONESTLY THINK SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TELL NAS TO SAVE ALL THAT SH*T FOR WHEN OBAMA IS PRESIDENT..AND RIGHT NOW IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT THE RIGHT TIME TO HIT UP OBAMA WITH HIS ADVICE..IM HAPPY THAT WE HAVE GOTTEN THUS FAR BUT WE HAVE MUCH MORE TO GO AND OBAMA WON’T BE ABLE TO SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS BUT CAN MAKE A CHANGE FROM THE CRAP WE DEALING WITH ON A DAILY BASIS…..
I’m co-signing the Khing we don’t need to put that out there right now, cause thats all some people need to put down Obama!
@33
I have a right to my opinion. It is obvious that anything that is associated with Obama (good or bad) will be critized by people who dislike him…like the Rev Wright situation. I mean really, think about it, does another person actions and thoughts has to always reflect your own? No. So get off of that Meth high, and shut the fuck up.
The hook is hot, but NAS is ANNOYING!
IMO: Some of you on this site seem fearful! You are stating that, Nas should not voice his opinions or concerns- due to fear of what white people may think about Obama. Nas is not criticizing Obama, he is acknowledging his accomplishments and acknowledging the possibility that Obama may be the hope we need to change things for all people. There have been many discussions and concerns about the topics Nas mentions in this song ( poverty, innocent men/women being incarcerated for crimes that they did commit and police brutality ect.). Nas even states in this song that there are some Negros that hate to see a black man succeed- he mentioned Rev. Wright as well. Please, let’s stop blaming Nas or anyone else for the reasons why others will misjudge Obama. Obama is not afraid of any man judging him, because if he was- he would have never attempted to campaign for the Democratic Nomination. Obama won this nomination because he is a fearless man and realizes what needs to be done to change the negative mentality of many Americans- especially when it comes to race-and we should all hope that this becomes a reality. Remember God is always in control- not man! Fear is what is ruling and ruining this world! Fear of speaking out is keeping so many behind.
Keeping us in FEAR is how President Bush was able to take control over this country for the past 8 years, it has also kept many slaves from escaping to freedom. Let others feel free to voice their concerns and hopefully those who are fearful will follow!!!!
@32: We can also ask Jay-z is he a street husler or is he Hollywood? We are all walking contradictions- that’s what makes us human- Obama has proven that he contradicts himself as well- it still doesn’ take away the possibility that he maybe the first African-American President of the United States.
Love, Peace and the Audacity of Hope!!!
Error: doesn’t
truth@39
song is dope…this is what he should be dropping, we need more political commentary in music…Obama been runnin for a long time now and barely any rapper addressed this
nah we got time to make songs about BUST IT babies tho…fuckin coon…
keep it up Nas.
Damn I LOOOVEEE this song!!!! Nas is great! The timing is great!! Hearing Tupac on the hook is GREAT! Obama is great too!
) Yes we can change the world!
Its really sad its like what to do> When he was going to call his album NI
I like the song and have always liked Nas. He’s definitely an awesome and courageous lyricist. For those that think Nas will cause contraversy, he won’t. Atleast not from the people with wisdom and good outlooks on life. Stop trippin. The election is in God’s hands. Stop being scared for what is about to blow our minds. Wer’re destined for change. And Obama (a biracial man) is going to bring that. He’s had the opportunity to experience both sides of America, black and white so I think he’ll do fine with becoming the president.
There’s nothing I love more than an intelligent man w/ some swag and Nas is that! There are two kind of rappers, the ones w/ really nothing to say and the ones that talk about something. The problem is that most of the ones that talk about something don’t have that swag or their delivery is a lil weak. Nas is the best of both worlds and I love this dude!
I’M NOT A BIG NAZ FAN BUT….THIS IS GREAT ,,,PERFECT TIMING….GOD BLESS
I can’t hear the song right now, but as long as it is positive, I’m with it. Obama is at a very vunerable state right now…we don’t need the careless remarks of others scaring away the white vote for Obama because they think that the world will become a big ole Black Panthers movement if Obama gets in there. So PLEEEASE ppl…keep it positive!!
Obama is black but he is not here to “SAVE” black people. He is here to do what is best for the country, as a whole. If Obama becomes President, that’s not going to stop black on black crime, black men from degrading black women (women in general), and all the other degrading things that black men are stereotyped to be like. It is up to each individual to RISE up and get it together. Obama is blazing a trail, just as MLK blazed a trail for him. But Obama is not going to be only about helping black men deal with jail, the cops, and violence. Nas is trying to make a point here but it FALLS SHORT! Try again. (Note to Nas: DO NOT CALL OBAMA A NI99ER. It gives others, like white suburban kids who listen to your music, the attitude that they can call him that too. )
I haven’t loved much of Nas’ stuff since Illmatic, but I actually love this track. Let’s hope Nas gives us another great CD and not a CD we listen to for a week and then forget about.
Please give me a break some of you . Obama is not above being questioned . Im disappointed in Nas . I thought he had more sense when it came to certain topics , unfortunately he don’t . I hate to, but I agree with # 15 .
@ 48 the surburban white kids parents are probably walking through the house calling us the N word allday long . So, please stop blaming it on rappers . We didn’t create the word so we definitely can’t diminish it .
Lmao @ 41 ” bust it baby “
Heard somewhere that Nas and Green jacked the sample and idea from a girl named Christina K. Go to Realtalkny.rawkus.com to get the story.
damn…yall are deep. In MY opinion, this is a great song. Wonderful lyrics. Lyrics that actually have meaning, lyrics that make you think. Not just for black people, but everyone. “People need honesty”… White people still hate him even though he’s half of what they are. I love Barack Obama. I would love to see him and Hillary make history twice. Hillary, take that VP spot. People say she’s a snake, but I think she’s just a strong woman. lmmfao @ “Bust it baby”. I was mad at him at first…but, damn Bill Cosby was right.
oh my god; this man or child [nas] just doesn’t get it. his whole project is an insult i compare this to the rev. wright rant about america. while you damn america stand in the mirror, ok; first obama is not a black saviour so a message to him of this nature is a diservice. i feel we as blacks must turn w/ in ourselves to solve our problem and must stop looking for or to a gov’t that can’t relate to black pain or suffering. young man don’t you get it. i get tired of the excuses we as a people keep using, and when i get critical about our black race issues i stand in the mirror when i point a finger [patience] can’t you people see. i had to check my daughter recently. she tried to BLAME her failures and shortcomings on racism, and she has a college b.a. degree. i told her ; DON’T YOU EVER LET ME HEAR YOU , OR LET IT COME OUT YOUR MOUTH , BLAMING WHITES OR RACISM FOR YOUR FAILURES. we have to find a way in these days and times . this system will always be this way. its not going to change so using racism as an excuse is wearing thin. while the majority race has contributed. you can-not say that in this day and age , that there isn’t opportunity and better chances now verses the past. this system is still guilty to a degree but; i also hold myself responsible, for where i’am in life. nas you are a mis-guided gifted person i should google and find out just how much formal education you have cause it seems you just don’t get it. there is a maturation process in life’s stages, and if we are not getting formal education [k-12] we are lost, a white man in the south told me in regards to sharing his knowledge and what he knows his quote was ; i’am NOT going to teach you NOTHING. so young people continue to negelect your formal education and see where you end up. a so- called street disciple who is on their way to self-destruct. quit looking to obama and get your own house in order. its a wonder that barack ain’t pull a tiger woods and basically told us i’am not black; and it ain’t that kind of party. so nas get your life in check first.and stop trying to give advice to obama. chill. also your cd cover the one w/ the slave w/the whips you couldn’t even have tolerated one slash of that slave massur’s whip. so please give us a break. also last but not least . somebody tell charles barkley “THAT A FOOL AND HIS MONEY IS SOON DEPARTED”.
@ 50 “can’t diminish it” but we can stop using it and making it acceptable to call each other that word. Do the Jews call each other “Kike” as a term of endearment? I THINK NOT!!!
@ 55 And why should they stop using the word ? What benefit would we as a race get out of it ?
Damn, this might be the first Nas project that I might have to skip. I guess it’s a sign of the times that even Nas is watered down and compromised. This is what happens when our people don’t have the true understanding of Christ who is our hope and our only hope. The shame of it is that Nas has been taught by brothers and he knows who he is, but his love of money and Satan is making him think and say things that are exposing his double-minded mentality. You cannot love your people and love America, it is not possible. You cannot hope for America to be “saved” unless you love America. Barack Obama has never overtly promised to do anything for the black community so I have no idea why Nas made this track for, it must be to endear himself back into the good graces of the black community after the whole “Ni**er” album fiasco. Obama is a Zionist, he has nearly gotten on his hands and knees promising that so-called Jews that he will be a hard-liner against the Arabs and “Islamic fundamentalists”. This shows those that are paying attention that Obama wants to bring people together only after he’s been instructed by his sponsors which people he should want to bring together. He has no problem demonizing and alienating those that cannot accrue him more political power. Whoever goes into the White House (if there is another election) will all follow the same script. Some of you black people in this malaise and captivated by his vague speeches need to really analyze the man’s affiliations. The last thing that Obama will be concerned with is the plight of black men, so thusly, why should black men be concerned with him or the election in general? It makes no sense.
@54
Racism is not going anywhere so you can continue to mislead your daughter all that you want. This economy will wax worse and worse and as it continues to plummet, you will see more and more white people start to lose what they think is rightfully there’s in this society. When that happens they will look for someone to blame, as they always do. They will be more forthright with their racism and then the true litmus test for people like you will be exactly how much disrespect you’re willing to endure and denial your willing to maintain. I can see you telling your daughter to persevere through it and use all her mental faculties to succeed but to try to maintain that things have improved only show your ignorance. Things have changed and mutated, they have not improved. In most ways, they are worse than they’ve ever been. If you’re telling her that the system will “always be this way”, and yet she should ignore racism, what type of hope are you giving her? You’re basically telling her to be subservient and be a sellout which is why the majority of corporate negroes have just that mentality.
Are you seriously asking, what benefit would we as a race get out of not using the word”NI99ER” to address each other?
@ 58 Yes, that’s exactly what Im asking . What BENEFIT will we as a race have ?? Like I thought ,you don’t have an answer because there are NONE . In your entire thread #48 you spoke as If none of the things Nas spoke on was relevant enough for Obama , the possible first ” black president ” to address. That it’s on people as individuals responsibilty to change , but we as a whole should work on stop using the N word , something that will never go away . We can stop using it but if you think that will encourage other races to stop saying it you must have a brain the size of a pea . It’s not worth unifying as a race to maybe see what we together could do to better our communites ( stop the degrading or each othe , violence etc as you say ) ,but you’re worried about how an urban kid will think it’s okay to call us a N word is worth working together on ?? And people on this blog got tight with me a few weeks ago when I said black people are the most stupid people on this earth .
@ 59
There is an answer. Stop using it because it’s an ugly word. Period! What is so hard about that? And black people are not stupid and I surely do not have the brain the size of a pea. (laughing)
Listen, if you love the world and want to keep it alive and well in your vocab, that’s up to you. You can! I personally stopped using that world a long time ago and I have never looked back.
P.S. There are ways to debate someone without resorting to name calling. I’m sure you learned that in college.
