♫ NEW MUSIC: NAS – “BLACK PRESIDENT” ♫

New Nas track entitled “Black President” (Produced by DJ Green Lantern) off of “The Nigger Mixtape”. In the song, Nas speaks directly to Obama and gives him his outlook and expectations on what changes we need as a country. Good timing.

(Thanx to Nahright.)

There is an answer. Stop using it because it’s an ugly word. Period! What is so hard about that? And black people are not stupid and I surely do not have a brain the size of a pea. (laughing)
Listen, if you love the word and want to keep it alive and well in your vocab, that’s up to you. You can! I personally stopped using that world a long time ago and I have never looked back.

P.S. There are ways to debate someone without resorting to name calling. I’m sure you learned that in college.

    Damn…

I’m sitting back viewing these comments in disgust.

It seems to me that black women (or women of color in general) find it very hard to support their brothers (black men).

    Its always a catch.
    Quit nitpicking….

Yall sound like some damn house negroes (“oh nas giving white americans the perception that Obama like’s ‘gangsta rap’)???

    (Oh obama hasn’t won yet)

    Support.

Shit that’s all we ever ask yall for….

    Some damn support.

Celebrate…he’s paying homage to the fact that this country has given him the opportunity to be nominated.

    We support yall. Support us.

    For once

    @15

How could he have released it b4 he got the nomination??? lol that makes no sense….

I love this song, Ive been a Nas fan tho. Its not about him being obama being a savior. I think its a real song.

@ Tracy . I didn’t call you a name it’s all truth . You never had anything to say worth listening to so just move right along . To stop using a word because it’s ugly is not a “benefit ” . BTW : I did learn reasoning and analytical skills in grade school and through my parents most of those things are basic learning. I had most of those basic things before college was ever thought of .

Nas is a prolific, intellectual lyricist. This is a great song and I hope this is on his next cd.

#15..obviously you don’t know our history or you wouldn’t be able to let go of it so easily and move on. Yes racism still exists, yes the KKK is still very much alive, and yes we still need to be talking about our past and our future. The problem with many of these kids today is that they don’t know their history and the white history books aint trying to tell us nothing about it. They get out here and still get treated like second class citizens and have no idea why because the schools aint teaching them and for the most part their parents aint teaching them either.

I applaud Nas for saying what many punk a$$ rappers refuse to talk about and that’s black people and our struggles, black pride, and Obama. This song aint gon do nothing to his campaign but hopefully get some of the negroes in the hood to go register to vote. A right we just got not too long ago if you know your history.

    House Negros (LMAO)
I am sorry you had a hard time understanding, what I meant. Like I said read between the lines.

  8. Am I the only person that lives in AMERICA?

I too hate the constant use of the N word, but at the same time I have to agree with the one who stated….What “REAL” benefit would we get from the deletion of the word?”….. Think about it. No seriously, sit back…stop and think about it. What “REAL” benefit?

There is more things we do wrong as a culture that we need to delete that would beneift us greater than the use of the N word.

  9. Have Not Thought of a New User Name

Barack Obama is running for president of the United States not Black America, whatever plans he has for the Black community he can’t let the rest of America know because then he wouldn’t get elected, and he alone can’t change all the problems in the community.

  10. Obama should choose that N!&&er Nas to be his vice president………I’m sure
that would guarantee his ass get elected…….I mean rejected :-)

IMO: Some of you are soooooooooooo…………delusional! Just look at how negative you are about Nas- African-Americans are afraid to support one another, because we have been brainwashed to believe that we are the INFERIOR race. Maybe this is why Bob Johnson did not support Obama!! Some of you are saying that Nas is disrespecting Obama, but if you listen to the song he is praising him in the utmost highest standards. Get over the fear of the N- word, because if you listen to most hip-hop music it is stated in almost ever line ect. Obviously this topic is bringing out the weakness in many people! Negros will continue to fall behind- because some of you are very uncomfortable with your own skin! In the words of Sri Chinmoy: “Oneness is the perfect expansion of our inner reality. Let our heart’s oneness only increase to make us feel that we belong to a universal world- This is a fulfilled DREAM of GOD! ”
    Blessings To All!!

I really like the song! I think its great, reminds me of an old hip hop song.

Even though Nas seems crazy I don’t get the hateration on CL

    The Intellectual,

Screw it…I’m in love with a married man. Anywho, this is the Nas I’ve been missing and craving. I’m still glad that he changed the title of his album, because his message could have gotten lost in all the hype. I once said I wasn’t going to go out and buy this album, I was planning to get it bootleg, but I renig, I’m definitely picking it up as soon as it drops.

    Peace,

to the idiots that think Nas is in seeking of the spotlight and desperate for attention…do you know anything about his career. Dumbass’ he didn’t lose it, he left it. God’s Son was universally acclaimed, so what does he do, go and make an album less about thrilling the masses and that speaks to his soul. Idiot; he walks the path he has chosen for himself. To call Nas a artist looking for a gimmick is plain stupid, if that were the case the last damn thing he would be trying to talk about is our social disparities, it has already been proven that that type of music doesn’t sell. So for you dumb asses, that isn’t a gimmick. Lil Wayne’s {who I happen to like} drug habits are a gimmick, Nelly’s (no innovation having ass, band aid wearing non free styling ass is a gimmick. Lil Flip, Soldier Boy and those of similar status are the goddamn gimmick, not a man who barely ever promotes his albums. Have you ever seen a Nas interview when he is promoting an album, he never gave a damn if you bought an album of his or not. Some of you people need to keep it tuned to 106 and park and stop acting like your intelligent. To everyone that gets it, Destiny Is Ours!!!!

I look at music as a whole, I like good music, but I don’t really like this. I “liked” Nas around illmatic, and a few singles here and there (the b-sides mostly when I was djing). The production value though honestly is garbage, some like it, thats their ear, but I had to skip through it, because I found it boring.

If I want to learn something – I’ll read, but to be honest he isn’t saying anything different than any adult is thinking right now, and there is more going on in the world than “possibly” having a black president. So how is this “deep” or “intellectual”? Its just – o.k.

To each his own, but if it weren’t for the “n*gga” press he was actively seeking, i’d give his music more of a shot than this go around…

I really wish the most of these folks listen to content instead of searching someone to hate. I guess the most of you would rather hear another “lollipop” track or encouraging our women to lick the rapper. Nas the top five dead or alive. It seems that you guys must really be upset that your so called favorite rappers don’t think on this level. Hip Hop is about content! This is what he meant when he said hip hop is dead because the art of story telling is dead. This is something positive and our people are much more the pimps, pushers, whores or in jail and he’s trying to tell you this. Go ahead and hate. The best always rise to the top. Obama will be the next president and the first black president I promise. Nas is my favorite rapper since illmatic and his track record alone deserves the up most respect. Wake up people save the music and stop listening to this trash that so called defines our people. Save the music. Nas keep doing your thing boy. You Welcome!

  18. T Ford

Wake Up People! Nas is the greatest!

  19. mofo

People, just because people “liked” nas, and aren’t feeling this song does not mean that they like ‘lolipop’ or soulja boy. It means, they aren’t feeling the track and thats it. I give nas respect, much respect, for what he has DONE, but not for this.

I listen to words, but the production should be there for me too (and I am not a fan of b.s. music), but the entire song is not compelling really, its a mixtape joint riding the coattails of a possible black president. There are 300 more songs just like it, from different genres – just not from Nas. And I didn’t them either really – just like when Talib Kweli gets too preachy sometimes, just sp*t that sh*t, let me sort out my political views on my own – and Let obama make the statement for himself.

  20. T Ford

I can respect that! However read most of the post. Some of these individuals seem to be so simple minded. This isn’t an “If I ruled the world track” or a “Black Girl Lost” track or even “Got yourself a Gun” however it has substance which so much other current music lacks. I like the song because of the political statement it’s makes. I tell my children that we are living history right now! This has never happened and I really want to absorb as much of it now because what Obama is doing is truly histrorical. Man, my mother went to Bobby Kennedy’s Funeral when she was in the 11th grade. I’m thinking on a whole different level because I feel the history. I enjoy club tracks like any other man. But respect is do to someone who has substance in the music. Life is serious but never take it too serious we are allowed to have fun. I just truly get irritated when some readers hate on a true legend of hip hop. His track record speaks volume. I heard folks talk trash about T.I new track. It’s not his best track however it’s a good track that the message speaks to the soul instead of me wanting to supa soak that hoe. Know what I mean. I enjoyed your post because it’s seems you understand some history of hip hop. Some of those other post were ignorant and classless. This song had perfect timing because I truly believe Obama will win. Nas doens’t need any money! He’s been mentioned by those who truly know Hip Hop as one of the greatest. I promise you when we are older folks will remember Nas as they do Biggie, Pac, Rakim, KRS 1, Jay Z, Andre 3000, Big Daddy Kane, LL, Redman, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Snoop, Dre, Em, T.I, Luda, Lyte, Salt and Pepa, Pun, Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, EPMD, Scar Face, Wu Tang, Bad Boy Ent. and Tribe Called Quest. You do it for the love and be remembered for substance. I’m young enough to be fly but I’m old enough to know better.

  21. oooh nasty

I agree with the others who say ‘there is a time & a place for everything.’

Obama has been going through so much with people judging him on ‘Gulity by Association’ & there is already the ‘Fear of a Black Planet’ furthermore alot of people are not hearing/listening to his message but choosing to dis him because of his color.

Nas is bringing up a lot of great points esp innocent people in jail. It seems Nas was focused on Obama stepping up, almost pointing the finger and asking ‘what are you going to do.’ As president Obama will be coming into decades of capitalistic ideals & rulings. But I believe Obama is focused on giving EVERYONE a fair chance at a better future. Being a realist I know CHANGE takes time and hardwork. And it is not just going to be Obama’s position but also the effort of us all to come together to make America what it should be.
