I am fed up I and I drive a small car and it cost me $40 to fill up and I fill up every four days it is cutting into my other bills it is out of control for real. I know the government has control over the gas prices.

Im in Tallahasse, Florida, gas is around 4 here. I drive a small car and it’s take about $46 to fill up and just two years ago it barely took @25. So yeah gas it killing me big time.

Everyone is complaining about gas prices but no one is doing anything about it. They can only continue to increase it if consumers continue to buy it. If people simply went on strike and stop driving their cars for atleast a week or two I bet they would reduce the prices. Ride a bike to work, skateboard I mean do something. Cars are killing the damn environment anyway so basically everyone is paying to kill themselves, get real! and fast.
I’m from St. Louis obviously and there was a report on Yahoo! a few weeks ago that showed that MO had the cheapest gas prices in the US. Idk bout that anymore cuz I believe we’ve broke the 4 dollar barrier. Gas is crazy!
I remember when I first started buying gas, it was only $1.49. I live in Detroit, and gas here, is now $4.09 and that is in the city. It is slightly higher in the Burbs. Really times have changed, when looking at the faces while pumping my gas, everyone, I swear look so DEPRESSED. I mean LITTERALLY.
Gas is a necessary expense. I don’t even look anymore. I just fill up and go and sit my ass down somewhere. I would hate to see what happens if another major hurricane hits.

Wow I was just watching an old bone thugs video…came out like 2000 and gas was 1.119. It’s ridiculous now and the more I think about how much I pay for gas, the more upset I get. It’s 4.19 up in my parts. I might not be able to afford taking my car back up to school. It’s just too much of a hassle.
I live on Long Island and gas prices around my house range from 4.37 to 4.67. I drive a Honda Pilot and I pay $100 a week. People should start taking the bus. I actually started taking the bus to go to work, the mall and going to see my friends. I rather pay $2 for the bus ride. Why should we pay the tax on the gas when we can simply use coal from the US to make oil. Congress, OPEC, and the Gas Companies need to stop their B.S. and pay for the tax themselves.
If gas prices get any higher..I’ll have to cut back on my driving. To fill up my truck its about 150 dollars. (Granted I don’t pay for gas..my dad does) It’s really expensive to maintain 7 trucks and 3 cars. It’s about $ 3.88 a gallon for me where I’m at. not to bad compared to DC @ $4.14 a gallon.

Gas prices are rising but i don’t feel like us Americans should complain because we have it good comparing to other countries. If i look around me evry household has ATLEAST 2 CARS . These gasprices are affecting the foodprices all around the world. IN 3world countries people are STARVING and the UN said: INSTEAD OF PUTTING GAS IN OUR CARS WE SHOULD PUT FOOD IN THE MOUTHES OF THESE STARVING PEOPLE.
I think that people have lost what real important we can live without cars but not whitout FOOD.
I live in Cali too, on the Penninsula. Just last week I parked my SUV to start riding the bus. In my car it takes about 45 minutes to get to work and now that I have to catch the damn bus, I have to get up an hour earlier for a 1.5 hour bus ride. Needless to say, the people on the bus irritate me to the highest degree but it’s a compromise I have to deal with for the time being due to the influx in gas prices. On the Penninsula gas averages between $4.79-$5.21 for regular gas. On El Camino Real in Millbrae the Shell station is charging $5.21. That’s a damn shame. Overall I try no to complain b/c I work for the government and they provide us with a $75 commuter expense for public transportation. So instead of of dropping $55-$60 dollars of my hard earned green for 2-3 days of VERY LIMITED DRIVING I use their $75. And trust me… unless something good changes real soon with gas prices I’ll keep doing it.

I mean come on,, why would anyone elect two oil tycoons as the president and vice president of this country… Whats sad is that its only going to get worse when McCain goes into office and yes I highly believe he will just because this land was created on racism and will continue to be that way.
Also if anyone reads the news his advisor said another terriost attack on US soil would benefit McCain… Don’t be surprised when another city gets blown up right before elections. Just like Bush planned 9/11 right after he got into office.

Girl I drive a suburban and I refuse to put more than 25 dollars in that thing at a time. It barely moves my dial and my husband laughs at me but when I’m low on gas I just park it until I feel like putting more gas in it. I’m on maternity leave. I dont have shit to do anyway.
If 99% of you want to know why gas prices are so high, go look in the mirror. It’s a simple case of supply and demand.
I’ve been riding the bus/taking the metro for YEARS, simply because its a good way for me to get my exercise on. Yes, it’s a pain in the arse having to get up a little earlier, but I use that time on the bus/metro to relax, listen to my iTouch, or study.
Some of you guys need to stop being cute/cool, save some money or your parents money, and get on the bus. If I can park my Benz at the commuter lot and feel no shame (granted mine is only one of a few there), then so can you.
To all of my fellow Cali people, may I suggest park-and-ride. I hate the Metro. I took my driver’s test and got a loan for a car as soon as I got my license so I would never have to rely on public transportation again but it is helping more than I thought it would. Five dollars for a day pass is better than $50-$60 (if not more) a week to fill the tank.
This gas price shit is getting to be ridiculous. Everyone is feeling the pinch…even drive-by shootings are down.

Ummmm……. I dont live in a major city. Hell, I dont even live in a minor one. We do not have public transportation. Some people need their cars. Think about the people in rural areas who have no choice but to drive atleast 30 miles each way just to get to and from work.

I can’t help but laugh when I see people in their Hummers and other SUVs. Seemed like a good idea at the time, huh? My mother and brother both drive luxury cars and the looks they give when they realize it’s time to get more gas is depressing. Though I would have loved to get my hands behind the wheel of a Range Rover Sport Supercharged, a 2002 Honda Civic had to due. That’s another reason gas is so high. Shorty is on a roll, but the high demand for these expensive ass cars is also a contributing factor. Manufacturers know that these cars are gas guzzlers. They buy shares from the oil companies and double their profits.
Not everyone has access to public transportation so it can’t apply to everyone. I know I don’t the Dart in Dallas does not go to Lewisville or other cities. So I can see where most people would have to drive there own vehicles.
I’m just sick and tired paying $20 like every two or three days for gas. In Pittsburgh regular gas is like $4.09, unleaded is $4.29 and premuim is $4.39. I just wish the gas prices would go down to $1.00 per gallon.

Yeah, some cities don’t have public transportation, so it’s easy for some but not everyone. Plus some of us have to drive for miles before we even see a bus stop, so you might as well keep it moving.
I and really thinking about getting a bike but I have been spoiled by the AC. I am a true house nigga because I cannot stand the heat. I start to get real alley when it gets too hot and I start to lose all sense of reasoning. Maybe I’ll get a bike in the fall.

America is about to experience what the Europeans and British have known for years “HIGH GAS PRICES” In Europe gas is about 2.40 pounds a liter. When converted to US dollars that is about $9.60 a gallon. WOW…Someone is getting rich.

My and my husband (celebrating 24 DAYS of marriage) share a car. I drive a 2005 Hyundai Accent – and although people giggled at me in traffic, now I get looks of envy. It costs me $37 for a full tank. Mind you, my commute is only 5 miles to work. I am looking on Craig’s List to find him a 89/90/91 Honda CRX Hatchbacks that get 45 miles to the gallon. If gas goes to $5 – I will be bringing my bus pass out of retirement.

I live in MS where there isn’t any public transportation, so you have to drive your own car to work,etc, the gas here is now 3.91 a gallon, I drive a midsize car it takes me about $50 to fill up, someone says that there is a solution to this, but what is it? I’ve been hearing that there is a shortage of oil, because of the other foreign countries demand for it. So what can the average American citizen do, besides buy it?
Gas is $4.00 a gallon here in Va ( that’ s for 87). I just purchased a plane ticket lastnight for a trip in a month and it was close to $300.00 . I’ve never paid that much for a ticket in advance . It will keep rising no one can control that .
For those making comments about taking public transportation–for some–thats not really an option. When I lived in SC that would be feasible but now that I like in Oklahoma–its not. The bus system doesn’t run in my area–or many other areas for that fact and I live in the city. Public transporation isn’t really big here. And when it does run its only from like 7-9 hours or so starting at 7pm. So I HAVE to drive to work. I am one of those people who wanted a Tahoe..not for show but to reward myself…I like it and felt like I work hard to get it then I deserve it. But now…I know I can’t afford it. My plan was to get one next year-by then I will have had my malibu would be paid off for two years. If I do get a new car like I intend…I will get a new malibu.
This is ridiculous…i believe this to be price gouging at it’s best.

the benefit of owning a home nowadays is seriously questionable too unless you have an 810 credit score. i have a great score, but even with that, there are so many foreclosures and other problems that it’s not worth it to me (in response to the mention of black people not owning a home). i was this close to buying and i am so glad i didn’t. now friends of mine who bought a home and have a car are looking to move back in with mom or dad or rent an apartment. maybe one day, but not today. maybe when obama has made “the change” i will go for it. right now everything is too shaky.
