♫ HOT OR NOT: T-PAIN & LIL’ WAYNE ♫

T-PAIN & LIL’ WAYNE - CAN’T BELIEVE IT

T-Pain and Lil’ Wayne are set to team up to do an album together a la R. Kelly and Jay-Z on Best of Both Worlds. Even though the idea sort of makes me cringe, I don’t see why not. These two have definitely been at the top of their game for the past year, with Lil’ Wayne selling over a million records his first week out, and T-Pain being featured on everyone and their grandmother’s song.

Well, here’s “Can’t Believe It,” a track from Thr33 Ringz, T-Pain’s forthcoming circus-themed album, due out in September, with its lead single, “Silver & Gold.”

SO, HOW DO YOU LIKE “CAN’T BELIEVE IT?”

♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

Thursday, June 26, 2008 |

♫ Michelle Williams - Hello Heartbreak (full) - REMOVED
The full version of Michelle Williams’s “Hello Heartbreak” has leaked. I think I dug the snippet a little more, but this doesn’t distract my interest from Michelle’s new project, Unexpected. This is the first song from the album that I’ve heard that really just hasn’t kept my attention. And even still, I think it may have something to do with the quality of the song. Is it just me, or does the vocal seem really low?

♫ Joe - E.R. (Emergency Room) (full) - listen
Although extremely underrated, I really liked a lot of the songs on Joe’s last album, Ain’t Nothin’ Like Me, and to be completely honest, I’m really digging this new song too. “E.R.” feels similar to a lot of the material on the last album, so I’m wondering if this means that Joe is coming out with a new album or if this is just unreleased material from the sessions of the last album.

BLACK HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: LOVIE AUSTIN

Thursday, June 26, 2008 |

Lovie Austin (1887-1972) was one of the first female bandleaders in jazz.

Born Cora Calhoun in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on September 19, 1887, she studied music theory at Roger Williams University and Knoxville College in Nashville. In 1923, she moved to Chicago and began touring on the vaudeville circuit. A fancy dresser and a well-liked person, she was often seen around town dressed to the nines and driving her Stutz Bearcat with leopard skin upholstery.

Ranked one of the best female jazz blues piano players of the period, Austin began her career accompanying blues singers such as Ma Rainey. Continue Reading »
