The Democratic nomination may be even closer to wrapping up as Sen. Hillary Clinton has asked top donors and supporters to attend a speech Tuesday night in New York.
Referring to the personalized email request to attend the event, one donor said, “This has never happened before.” Analysts suggest she is planning to end her campaign and endorse Sen. Barack Obama within a day or two. A campaign spokesperson, however, denied that Clinton is dropping out.
The two candidates spoke Sunday night and agreed their staffs should begin negotiations on post-primary activities. On Monday, Clinton staffers were told “to turn in their outstanding expense receipts by the end of the week”. Members of her advance staff received calls and emails Sunday which summoned them to New York and told them their roles with the campaign are ending.
Obama is expected to claim enough delegates to put him over the top Tuesday night at an event in St. Paul, Minnesota. On Monday, he said he had asked Clinton to meet “once the dust settles” from the race.
CLINTON WILL DO WHAT IT TAKES
On Tuesday, Sen. Hillary Clinton is set to deliver a message “that she will do whatever it takes” to put a Democrat in the White House. Sen. Barack Obama insiders say this indicates that she would accept an offer to be Obama’s running mate if asked.
According to a close friend and adviser who spoke anonymously, “In her speech…, she will convey the message that first and foremost she is committed to Democrats winning in November and will do whatever she’s asked to do. She will do whatever it takes to bring the party together to win and whatever is asked of her to make sure the Republicans are defeated.”
Both the Clinton and Obama campaigns have said there have been no formal discussions between the campaigns, but this message has been conveyed via informal channels. Obama insiders say the message is a clear signal that Clinton is willing to serve as Obama’s vice president.
CLYBURN SUPPORTS OBAMA
Rep. James Clyburn, the House majority whip, is the highest ranking black person in Congress. He’s now also a Barack Obama supporter.
In a statement on Tuesday, Clyburn said, “I believe the nomination of Senator Obama is our Party’s best chance for victory in November, and our nation’s best hope for much needed change. Senator Obama brings a new vision for our future and new voters to our cause. He has created levels of energy and excitement that I have not witnessed since the 1960s.”
Obama’s campaign advisers said that they were orchestrating an endorsement of Obama by at least eight Senate and House members who had pledged to remain uncommitted until the primaries ended, and that the endorsements would come the moment the South Dakota polls closed on Tuesday night.
The congressional endorsements on Tuesday night are intended to show that the party is behind him and that he is moving from primary to general election. Even the location of Obama’s speech on Tuesday night symbolizes this: the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, which will be the location of the Republican convention in August.

If girlfriend was really willing to do whatever it took to get a democrat in office she would have bowed out months ago, but she wanted it too damn bad. I hope the Dems do not decide to make her VP. Anyway, uncommitted superdelegates are coming out in full force for Obama today. According to his website he only needs 30.5 delegates for the nomination.

I’m tired of hearing about this….i don’t care why Obama won because he made history. He has opened a door that many have tried to close on us for as long as we have been on this land. At this point it doesn’t matter if McCain wins or not because Obama has drawn a blueprint for any minority to follow to get closer to the white house.
Everything takes baby steps people. Hillary shot herself in the foot with losing this campaign. She tried to discredit Obama and she tried to lie her way into the house. Please Obama do not invite Hilary into your cabinet. She will sabatoge you initiatives. If u must deal with her just use her as a consultant of some sort but other than that keep her at arms length. As a member of the democratic party she is obligated to support his initiatives anyway on behalf of the party (if he’s nominated). Therefore, there isn’t an urgent need to have her in his cabinet. Barack Obama does not need to pick Hillary for a running mate, any person with an IQ above 0 can see voting democrat in November is there only option. Women will come arround when the figure out who John McCain plans to appoint to the Supreme Court (roe v. wade) and the fact that he has said more than once he is not strong on the economy, and he will continue the war for as long as he feels is needed.
