POLITICS: IT’S OVER AND THE WINNER IS…

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

On Tuesday, Sen. Barack Obama claimed the Democratic presidential nomination following an epic battle with Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Barack Obama’s speech in Minnesota

With a victory in the Montana Democratic primary, Obama captured the 2,118 delegates needed to be nominated at the party’s convention in August. After the polls closed in Montana and South Dakota, the Obama campaign also announced the endorsement of 26.5 superdelegates.

This marks, as the Obama campaign quoted the Washington Post, “an historic achievement that for the first time will place an African American at the top of a major political party’s ticket“.

You chose to listen not to your doubts or your fears, but to your greatest hopes and highest aspirations,” Obama declared in his speech in St. Paul. “Tonight, we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another — a journey that will bring a new and better day to America. Because of you, tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.”

Hillary Clinton’s speech in New York

During a speech to supporters in New York, Clinton commended Obama and acknowledged her path to the nomination had closed. However, she did not leave the race.

Clinton won South Dakota’s Democratic primary and during her speech, commented that she had received nearly 18 million votes. “Even when the pundits and the naysayers proclaimed week after week that this race was over, you kept on voting.”

Now, the question is, Where do we go from here, and given how far we’ve come and where we need to go as a party, it’s a question I don’t take lightly,” Clinton said. “This has been a long campaign, and I will be making no decisions tonight.”

She said she’d be speaking with party officials about her next move and also presented her case that she was the stronger candidate and argued she had won the popular vote.

According to a source on a conference call earlier Tuesday with Clinton and NY lawmakers, Clinton said she would be interested in serving as Obama’s running mate. The Clinton campaign, however, says she merely said she would do whatever is in the party’s best interest. The source added that everyone on the call thought Clinton needed to be on the ticket.

I am so proud……It is time for a change. McCain is 4 more years of Bush and no matter what people say in front of the media, behind closed doors they are tired of it too. I want fresh and new and Obama is just that. Sorry but I think he has a better chance w/o Hillary (for some reason I dont think she could stay in her lane and Bill will continue to put his foot in his mouth) JMHO

What a blessing to look up and see light! Obama I am praying for you and your family. This is a great victory for our people. Now roll up them sleeves and get ready for a race that will be filled with lies and strategic attacks. However, I will stand to be a supporter… every American should stand and support you. I just really believe that this is a change we can trust. Congradulations.

While we are getting excited we need to be brigning unity amongst our race. We can’t preach this pro-black thing only when a black man is running for president.

We can’t only dislike non-blacks whena black man is running fro president.

Him being in the office does not gurantee a 360 in our community and now we’re all perfect, no we still have gaps and bridges in our community that needs to be fixed.

Obama will do his part as in to helping us financially, but we have to work on the other things, like the crime, the black men vs. black women war of the genders thing that was still going on when he was running in the domocratic race. Black women against black women, all of that is still existing and as long as we’re divided then him being president will not benefit completely.

We can’t go “Ha! In you face white man/white woman only for this time?

Where was the “Black unity” weeks, months, years ago?

Black people a black president will mean nothing if WE DON’T GET IT TOGTHER”!

So there we have it. I’m still delighted I’m alive to witness this!
On another note, that shrew Hillary has lots of nerve to try and put O in the position to approach her and offer her any VP slot.
How dare she not even concede or admit to defeat, yet come out making comments about accepting a VP position. Bill was beet red yesterday, probably half-dead from high blood pressure dealing with that selfish, power hungry she-devil who just won’t quit.
I hope Obama doesn’t consider Hillary for shyt. She isn’t to be trusted.

Obama….The first of many!!!!! this man has made me so proud! we need to put him on a $75 bill or something.lol….i love Obama!!!!!! but idk if i want hilary for president. i personally believe her decisions for running this far was to seperate the party the party even more! mathematically there’s no way she could’ve won! and i really wish she would quit with this popular vote crap fl. didn’t count baby it was illegal and michigan wasn’t even on the ballad! besides i don’t think she’s content with being behind the scenes. their views would certainly clash!

40.

dukesman2000

Wednesday, June 4, 2008 /

Bill…. it was actually 17,000 in the arena and another 15,000 outside. This guy is a rock star. And what a sore loser Hillary has proven to be? To use a basketball analogy here: it’s like she has fouled out of the game and refuses to leave the court.

At first, I was thinking that Obama might need Hillary on his ticket in order to have a shot at the White House. But after watching this democratic race, is the more and more she appears too polarizing and has become a pariah across party lines, to be much of an asset. She would derail Obama’s campaign in the same manner Bill Clinton derailed hers. So it’s best if Obama leave her right the hell where she is and seek somebody else. How things are going, Obama can choose a goat as his running mate and still whip McCain’s ass.

All fun and joke aside: Obama doesn’t need Hillary! Forget the 18 million voters on the table…those who didn’t vote for Obama in the caucuses will not vote for him in the national election. Why? Because they are not color blind. When they look at Obama, they don’t see his accomplishments and his competence; all they see is race. And it is inconceivable in their minds to have a Black man be the leader of the “free world.” So those votes should be written off.

The are the categories Obama is losing in: white seniors, whites with no college education, and Puerto Ricans. So, in other words, he is losing the support of racist old farts, the illiterate and the delusional, respectively. But don’t fret; with an historic turn out of Blacks coupled with the young white college educated, Obama will win the presidency.

So whether Hillary is on the ticket or not, what Obama needs is for Black People to come together for this final push, get off their ass a vote this November.

I am extremely proud. Proud to the point of being speechless. What gives me so much pride is the fact that Obama and his wife have this sincere, non-compromizing quality that is infectious. His speech was simply human. I cant see how anyone could not have seen the American spirit in him. McCain, to me, seemed very non-American. His focus seemed to be on his party and his supporters, instead of the country. he came off as apathetic. And of course, he was boring as all out doors. Typical McCain character. Hilary….wow. Is she delusional? Very arrogant. Very self-oriented. I was not impressed…At all!

Don’t hamstring him with that black segregationist rhetoric. Everyone’s african in origin anyway. I hope Rev. Wright keeps his ass in hiding, wherever the fuck he is. That bullshit he spews has done nothing for “us.” Just look around you: 50% dropout rate, AIDS amongs black women an epidemic, 37% prison population, gang murders rampant in every major city, and on and on. Black ministers should be marching in every community after every Sunday sermon. But no, they are busy driving their Rollses, Benz, etc., out to the suburbs.

There are some black sites that claim to be a cut above the rest, but all they do is read obscure political articles that they assume their readers do not read and then write their own articles claiming “we broke it here first” and claiming “sources”.
Worse of all, they write negative rumors they find on Right Wing Blogs about Obama that have no basis of truth in them and pass them off as Gospel since they are truly Clinton supporters but do not want to alienate their black base by endorsing her . I mean, they did not even CONGRATULATE the man for this Historic Moment. So thank you again Concrete Loop FOR YOUR FAIR REPORTING.

After watching Hillary speak last night. I have to say I’m MAD.
Barak has mentioned sexism and thanked Hillary for shattering sterotypes. Hillary her “whole life” has worked for the advancement in civil rights, but when an Historical American moment happens like this and Mr. McCain and Mrs. Clinton can’t even show one bit of gratitude for Mr. Obama for also shattering the glass cealing,Is unreal to me and disrespectful. Its also something I will NEVER forget.

I really hope Obama does not pick Clinton to be his running mate. In the same difference I understand her wanting to win the nomination but I think her prolonging how long she has made herself look real selfish and a soured sore loser. If she would have left the race when she needed in order to help the Dem party I would feel differently about her. I mean she even said she is open to the VP spot if Obama wanted her to be. She is a head of herself. I think she need to go sit down somewhere for a while, for real!

Truly a monumental even had occurred on June 3, 2008. This is no time for nay saying. He came this far by faith and there ain’t no stopping him now, he’s on the move! It was said that when he is officially nominated at the Democratic National Convention that it will be almost 45 years to the day that King gave his famous, “I Have a Dream” speech. Talk about a time in history. I’m so glad I was here to see it.

I’m so proud of Obama, and Michelle looked awesome as usual!

As for Hillary, she should be a shamed of herself , She has yet to recognized that Obama has won if it was the other way around Obama would have been very humble and jumped on board and supported Hillary. Obama is a man of integrity and humiliate, and I love him!

We will need to help him. We need to volunteer out time and donate. Everybody go to is website when you get a chance. I cannot wait CHANGE!!!!!

OBAMA 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!….I must say although i loved Obama from the beginning, I was a skeptic at first. I didn’t know if our country was ready for a Black..African man to make it all the way. Yesterday, was an emotional day for everyone..i will never forget it. What this means to not only the Black community but everyone in the country as a whole. America is changing and for the better. Obama let’s me know that I can achieve anything, I put my mind to. As i enter law school this fall, i am grateful and know that years ago people died so I could have the opportunity to have a future. People’s blood sweat & tears, black, white, hispanic, asian. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!so excited…this is something that I will be able to tell my grandchildre and they can tell their grandchildren. This should be hope for all the lost black boys and girls. Obama..should be your role model not these musicians. Aspire to be greater than your surroundings, don’t let society dictate your life. Bill…. it was actually 17,000 in the arena and another 15,000 outside.

Bill Said:

You have a Point Dukeman2000

Although Hillary Clinton has the potential to bring 18 million voters to the table, INCLUDING the Hispanics and Woman Voters, she also brings a LOT of Drama and demands…

Hillary probably wants to be Co-President, instead of Vice President, and she will probably demand a position for her husband & daughter.

Hilliary & Bill have their OWN agenda, and they could be a distraction.

I saw last night that Barack Obama has a way of drawing people
* When have you EVER seen a Presidential Nominee draw 32,000 people to a sports arena, to hear a 20 speech.

That’s Simply unheard of, yet Barack Obama does it with the greatest of ease.

Obama will NOT pick her sorry behind for VP because she don’t deserve it. And she got the nerve to ask him to help pay her campaign debt? This woman is crazy.

I don’t know what made Hillary think that she could run her campaign the way that she did and still get the nomination…oh yes I do, both her AND McCain underestimated Obama. Rather they underestimated that mabye the tides are turning when it comes to what America REALLY wants. Her campaign was total smut and if she would have ran a cleaner one, mabye things would have played out differently-she did not “respect” the black vote-her and her husband trivialized our influence in this race and not only that, she single handedly damaged the DEM Party almost beyond repair.

I was watching on You Tube how all of her supporters were whining like spoiled brats that didn’t get their way. Their arrogant, self-intitlement is astounding. McCan’t still has that attitude about him-like Obama is still a novelty-and you can tell he still has no respect for this man who ran a clean fair and square campaign.

I don’t know how this is going to end but I do know that no matter what, Obama’s integrity has definately raised the bar for what a true leader is supposed to be.

The WHITE MANS worst FEAR is about to come TRUE!! LOL!! I hope he takes his VICTORY all the way to the WHITE HOUSE!!

All alot of people out there are saying is that they are afraid for him, or that he may get killed etc…But please, I feel like if this is in GODS will for this black man to run the nation, thats what he will do & nobody/no man will be able to take that away from him, no matter how hard they try. That would be really Jacked up for someone to try & assasinate this man after 8 straight years of BUSH fuckin up the world!! And no body tried to kill him?!?!? So for them to attempt that would be jacked up if this black man wins the Presidency.

As far as Hillary goes, I wouldn’t trust her on my team, after all that cat fighting she did along the campaign run!! HELL NO! He made it this far without her help, or her votes. If she is willing to assist him sincerely in a DEMOCRATIC way okay, but to join in and still be crying about her loss…I wouldn’t want her on team. He can round up his own people anyway!

And if McCaine wins, that is officially the end of the world as it barely stands as it is presently after the 8 TRAGIC years of BUSH.

NO-NO MORE REPUBLICANS!!!
