On Saturday, Jill Scott announced during her show at Carnegie Hall in New York that she is engaged to her drummer/boyfriend Jon Roberts:
While she began to sing a tear-filled intro to her signature song ‘He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat),’ the blond-striped coiffed musician emerged with a bouquet of yellow roses and kissed the double-Grammy Award winner after whispering sweet sentiments in her left air.
The sold-out crowd, who came to partake in one of the biggest highlights of “The 2008 JVC Jazz Festival,” cheered its approval – some standing at their feet.
Scott, who was divorced from her longtime lover Lyzel Williams last year, beamed as she revealed the secret news to the rapturous audience. SOURCE

Jill isn’t the only one with wedding plans in the future…American Idol season two winner Ruben Studdard is also planning to marry soon and obtained a wedding license yesterday:
Studdard, 29, arrived at the Shelby County Probate Office in Columbiana, Ala. with fiancée Surata Zuri McCants, 30, just before noon, filled out the paperwork and walked away with their license, an eyewitness says. Studdard is a native of nearby Birmingham.
“They looked really happy,” says the eyewitness.
There was no immediate word on when they planned to marry. An Alabama marriage license is valid for 30 days. SOURCE

NATE DOGG ARRESTED

Hip hop artist Nate Dogg was arrested this morning while driving on the 405 in L.A. Word is her was chasing down his wife or some craziness:
Cops tell us a woman who said she was Nate’s estranged wife called into 911 freaking out as she was driving, claiming Nate was making death threats against her and “dangerously” following her as she drove down the road. The CHP stopped them both, and after interviewing both parties, arrested him for making terrorist threats and driving on a suspended license.
The singer, whose real name is Nathaniel Hale, is currently in the process of being booked into the medical ward of the Twin Towers jail in downtown L.A. He suffered a debilitating stroke last December. SOURCE
RIHANNA SAYS HER & CHRIS NOT DATING
Rihanna stopped by The View yesterday and of course she was asked about Chris Brown. According to the singer, the two are not dating contrary to what paparazzi captures:
“We hang out a lot. We’re very close. He’s an amazing person but we are not dating. We’re very close friends, though. Very, very close.” Co-host Whoopi Goldberg asks what the difference was between dating someone and being a close friend. Rihanna said, “There’s a very big difference. I think you know!”
She also explained her tattoos, including the new one on left shoulder: “They’re Roman numerals. Me and my best friend got the same thing. It’s her DOB (date of birth) and she has mine.”
