i agree that there is a lot of hate - we’re quick to befriend people, regardless of their color, then turn around and talk about them. who is not guilty of this? it’s not about sex and injecting semen, it’s about the fact that they have a family and it’s real love, you should check it out. i know racism is alive, but don’t act like it’s so INCRDULOUS that people of different nationalities and ethnicities can find a common bond and love each other.

No disrespect to you sis, but the brother is right. There was no commemoration or tribute thread to Malcolm X when his birthday passed. I wasn’t expecting one, nor is it your responsiblity to create one on an entertainment website, but the truth is the truth. There has never been a thread dedicated to Malcolm X that I can remember. If there was, please correct me.

I really don’t see what the hoopla is about just because Joel Madden is WHITE? C’mon people get over yourselves, it is HIS perogative to wear what he wants to wear. IMO the shirt is dope and I do believe it is vintage. I had a smilar shirt to that in the 90’s. There are people who just wear things because it’s cool and “trendy” but don’t know sqaut about what that item represents. Being a Jamaican-Canadian it really irks me when people of all backgrounds wear Red/gold/green colours and rock Bob Marley shirts or JA hats, shirts, etc and don’t even comprehend the background of what those three colours represent to the African/Carribbean culture, they just think it’s cool. However, I just don’t see Joel Madden as that type of person, he semms to be a really cool and intelligent person and his fiance IS half-black and half-mexican so I am sure she knows her history. I commend him for having the balls to wear a shirt like that knowing that he will receive backlash. Say someone like Pharrell or Diddy were to walk around wearing an JFK or shirt with Nixon on it would they get the same type of response?

JUDAH there have been stories posted on here concerning martin luther king commemorating his birthday. In fact, i’ve seen other posts where the people at concreteloop will readily pay tribute to supposedly great men like Carl Rowan yet for some reason Malcolm X can’t get some kind of love from them on his birthday? So, while this may primarily be an entertainment/gossip site, it is important to remember that they have done similar things for lesser people. It’s bad enough he wasn’t mentioned on any news station, i’m not naive enough to expect that, but why wasn’t he mentioned on here?

Brother, I already referred to why. It should be considered the times that we are living in. There is no recognition for strong black male thought patterns unless the black woman and white man feel comfortable with said thought patterns. Simple as that. You will often find that white people, particularly the caucasian sponsored Afrocentric curriculums taught in “black colleges” often concentrate on the socialist civil rights movement figures as the preferred protagonists in the black struggle. Malcolm’s “salvation” is alleged by certain integrationist blacks and whites to have been that he “saw the light” after he came back from Mecca, that being that he learned to love the caucasians. I would advise you to do your own research and to be EXTREMELY skeptical about all black people that receive praise and commemoration in this society, especially historically.
